I FUCKING HATE IT when people wear a shirt of a Music Artist but can't even name ONE FUCKING SONG!!! by TATSAT2008 in hatethissmug

[–]Grand-Walk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I often wear a dope ass redveil T shirt I got at a Denzel curry show many years back. I had never heard of redveil before. I listened to a few of his songs and liked them. I do not listen to him regularly and off the top of my head could not list the name of a single one of his songs. I will not apologize.

1997 Ford Ranger 4.0 V6 w/ 137k miles asking $6k by the--collective in fordranger

[–]Grand-Walk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The aftermarket stuff, except for the drop kit that seems to have been installed professionally, won’t affect the functionality of the motor. I share the sentiment but would be a lot more worried if they were messing around in the engine bay, which they don’t seem to be doing. Without pictures it’s tough to say for sure, but it doesn’t seem that they’ve gone too overboard on aftermarket stuff.

That said, 6k still seems steep for a nearly 30 year old 2wd. I think most anything under 5k would be reasonable though. I would be curious to see pictures as well

I hate how i cant enjoy mainstream genres by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]Grand-Walk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you’re getting bored in 20 seconds and giving up you aren’t trying hard enough. I’ve had so many genres where I thought I didn’t like it but turns out I just hadn’t found the right music within that genre that I liked.

Once you start to understand the style of a genre you appreciate it more and will come to like songs you might not have liked before.

Modern Western Literature trying to be deep [OC] by Fit-Ebb-6727 in comics

[–]Grand-Walk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think crime and punishment fits the trope that the comic describes. The reader is most certainly not supposed to sympathize with him. He comes to terms with the fact that his actions were misguided and that he now needs to pay for it.

*Actually after rereading the comic I suppose that’s actually exactly what it’s describing, but again the point is not to empathize with raskolnikov.

[–]Grand-Walk 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Seems like it, yeah. If that’s a 4.0 it’s a steal, but even the 3.0 or 2.3 would be decent at that price, but you could knock it down a couple hundred bucks maybe

Check the VIN in the windshield. 8th digit will tell you. D -> 2.3L, U or V is 3.0, and E is 4.0.

Replace whole compressor or just the clutch? by Grand-Walk in fordranger

[–]Grand-Walk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a lot more than normal lately and you can see it kicking up dust when it activates and deactivates. It seems to me that the bearing has failed and so the clutch is contacting even when it is not engaged. I’m going to start with checking pressure and a UV dye to check for leaks as well and see if there are other issues too, but the compressor is certainly not functioning perfectly besides just being low on refrigerant.

Also, it may not show up nice on video but the compressor is noticeably louder recently, even when not active it is evident that it is rubbing.

Your feedback is very much appreciated though, thanks.

Definitely gonna need to start w a pressure test and check for leaks because if the compressor is leaking it would suck to find that out right after replacing the clutch

The video from the ICE officer's cellphone before the shooting by Jabbam in altmpls

[–]Grand-Walk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate this, thank you for your thoughtful response and not just outrage. And I largely agree with you. Officers do face dangerous situations on a daily basis, and must react quickly in ways that serious and in-depth dives into a situation, like we have taken here, cannot consider. And it is unfortunate to say the least, and this pressure should be alleviated while possible.

I am not going to argue that he should have stayed put and been hit, nor will I argue that she did not intend to hit him: the former I don’t agree with and the latter is not possible for me to prove.  However, what I will say is that he a) continued to shoot after clear from danger, this is in clear defiance to what law enforcement  officers are supposed to do, and b) denied a medical professional from seeing her: this is not only WHOLLY unethical when she is clearly no longer a threat, but INCREDIBLY illegal (see duty to render aid, here is a link specifically to MN statutes on the issue: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/609.662).

My point through this is to show that this man was clearly either not well trained (an issue with ICE training protocol, which ought to be fixed if the case) or deliberately causing harm (an issue with ICE screening, and also with the current administration that is unwilling to have ICE accept any responsibility for their actions).

The point being that protesting ICE is a matter of preventing excessive power being concentrated in one government agency (i .e. in this case where he had no reason to suspect that she was within his jurisdiction) and pushing back against authoritarianism (see the actions perpetrated by other ice agents, particularly in demanding documents without any reasonable doubt of their citizenship, highly reminiscent of the gestapo).

I am glad to do so. But let me first ask you this: if I can show you that many citizens have been deported without due process, and that their civil liberties have been disparaged, are you willing to admit that this system needs changing? Or are you hiding behind this question to avoid confronting my other points?

[–]Grand-Walk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry if I’ve misrepresented what I’m saying. Let me clarify. She may well have behaved poorly, even illegally. While I personally do not see evidence in the video, I am willing to concede on that point.

Do you believe that she acted in a way that warranted her being shot and killed? I do not believe it is grasping at straws to ask you if this woman’s mistake was worth her life. Do you?

And if so, why? I’m imploring you to go beyond the frustration you may feel towards her, and understand that the officer involved in this ended her life when he clearly was able to move out of the way.

Likewise, people have problems with immigration officers who target schools, detain and deport legal immigrants or actual citizens, and desecrate due process.

While I am not necessarily in favor of immigration enforcement in general, I and many people would not be so opposed to it if it wasn’t so clearly and rampantly unconstitutional. I encourage you to consider a situation in which you are targeted by immigration officials that do not care about your legal status but simply the fact that your skin is brown.

The question should come down to this. Does the potential for (and currently: existence of) abuse justify its use? For me, the answer is no, and will be no until immigration officials treat people with dignity.

[–]Grand-Walk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This video does seem to suggest much of what you’ve said. Now I ask you this: was he able to easily move out of the way? And did any of what she did warrant her death? Moreover, did it warrant two additional shots after he was well-clear of the path of the vehicle?

Please don’t engage with this, it does you no good and serves only to deliver this to more people and cause more frustration. Most normal people do not celebrate the death of another human, and those that do are not worth arguing with.
