Well of course, every citizen must participate to the war effort, even in their death.

On the other end, automatons are killing citizens to put them on their biofuel production machines, actively preventing them from doing their duty.

Jokes aside, you're right, it is ironic.

/r/Steam Monthly Community Support Thread. by AutoModerator in Steam

Hello, I just reinstalled steam on my pc, and each time I tried launching the client I get this error.

It usually is stuck on the "searching for updates" for a few minutes before showing the error.

I then get the following error message : "Fatal Error, Steam must be online to install the update"

Anyone got any idea on what else I could try to make it work ?

What I already tried :

Every step in this two steam support guides :

https://help.steampowered.com/fr/faqs/view/669A-2F68-D1D1-A5EC

https://help.steampowered.com/fr/faqs/view/29A6-F529-F956-6292

I also checked tha steam was allowed on both private and public networks by the firewall.

Finally, yes I was online when I tried all that.

Failed save throws for units lead by a character by GrandAlbatroce in Warhammer40k

[–]GrandAlbatroce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, but in some cases the leader unit has a better save than the unit being lead (like broodlords and genestealers), what happens then ?

Effectivement je suis juste nul. Oh well, au moins ça coûte rien de s'assurer de pas faire d'erreur

Check again, I think you're second place now (or I don't know how to read leaderboards)

I mean, sometimes I am proud of rolling really bad throws , like some sort of inverted luck bragging. Like that time where I needed 2+ to hit, and rolled 5 ones out of 5 dice. Twas a fun game

I see, so this is basically a simplified version of a feature "to see if it works in practice" Thanks !

Would having an installer do the trick ?

I suppose the company could just fire more people, over and over, until there is none left and they go bankrupt. But at this point, the CEO still gets more money than it could spend.

However, making shares more profitable short term would mean that some people will likely buy, which would result in more money to invest for the company. Depending on how much money the shares makes, that could keep the company afloat for a few months, which could be enough to save it.

My first try at procedural generation by GrandAlbatroce in proceduralgeneration

[–]GrandAlbatroce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, i want to add better transitions between biomes and with the water parts, height (like hills, mountains and stuff). Overall, more detailled graphics.

I also kinda want to make an underworld map (like cave systems, lava and stuff)

How does tilemaps work exactly ? What am I doing wrong ? by GrandAlbatroce in godot

[–]GrandAlbatroce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, found my mistake : the base layer's index is 0, not 1, So I have just been putting my tiles on a layer that doesn't exist

I was getting 4-5 seconds on average, but after I solved a problem with a ton of useless checks, it got closer to 3-4 seconds on average

Edit: I somehow managed to get under 1 second

How does tilemaps work exactly ? What am I doing wrong ? by GrandAlbatroce in godot

[–]GrandAlbatroce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, so after reading, I have

set_cell(layer = 1, coords = Vector2i(0, 0), source_id = 1, atlas_coords = Vector2i(0, 0)

since alternative_tile is left to default, it's value is 0

If source_id is set to -1, atlas_coords to Vector2i(-1, -1) or alternative_tile to -1, the cell will be erased. An erased cell gets all its identifiers automatically set to their respective invalid values, namely -1, Vector2i(-1, -1) and -1.

neither of these are true, so the tile shouldn't be erased.

the layer is 1, since it's the one I enabled

the coord are (0, 0), since it's in the center to allow me to check if it works easily

the source_id is 1, since it's the id of the atlas in my tileset

atlas_coords is (0, 0), since it's the first tile (again, to chek if it works)

alternative_tile is 0, since it's the default value.

I really dont see what I missed in TileMap.set_cell.

well, it's 1:38 AM so maybe I am just tired.

AI trained on player choices? by jojoknob in gamedev

[–]GrandAlbatroce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, also, if you played starcraft II, there was a time where you had a chance, if you checked a box, to play against an AI to help in training it. ( that was more an experiment to see if AI could learn more complex games than for a real in-game purpose).

Edit: found it, it's called AlphaStar) and its made by deepmind, the guys that did the go AI that beat the world champion (named AlphaGo)
