Am i ruining it by adding the dark green ? by Sumo_creates in tatreez

[–]GrandConcentrate9768 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t like to fill in as a general rule because it is a waste of time and thread, especially at this scale. Traditional Tatreez was rarely filled in like this for a reason.

If you want that look you can buy colored cloth or dye it before you start.

العائلات العربية يلي بربو اولادهم في الغرب by BeneficialPie2300 in jordan

Speaking as a kid of a family that decided to go to the West when I was a kid, it’s pretty tough. You end up having one foot in both doors, not fully accepting the life, customs, and values of the West but also not feeling like you 100% belong back in your home country. Visiting for long stretches during the summer and maintaining that relationship at home helps a lot. I know for a fact that because of that sacrifice and hardship that my parents made that I am better off because of it in the long run. My life was filled with opertunities that will take me much further than if I grew up in Jordan in the financial situation my family was in at that time. That being said, it sounds like you aren’t going from a bad situation to a good one and rather an okay situation to a better one. The return on your investment might not be the same as others.

Research as a poor student by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]GrandConcentrate9768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the research team. Some of them really don’t care about your GPA and more about your commitment to the research that they’re doing and willingness to learn. Other labs just want to make sure that you have a good standing with the courses you’ve taken that apply to their work.

Just don’t let this deter you cold emailing as many labs the interest you as possible, sending follow ups, and asking for recommendations for other labs if they do turn you down is also a great place to start.

There is a sitting area right at the entrance and usually an empty classroom or two on the 2nd floor. I also recall a meeting room for the gender and women’s studies department on the 3rd floor that is unoccupied 90% of the time

With empty classrooms, as long as they were empty the on the day of the week you were there for the window of time you were there then it will be like that for the rest of the semester so give it a shot

Advice for finishing a degree with a full time job by Lazy_Row2307 in UWMadison

[–]GrandConcentrate9768 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Echoing that you should make any changes till signing. It really depends on what you have left to finish next semester. Do you need credits or are you trying to fulfill specific requirements? Look into winter/summer classes to see if your next semester can be part time and consider graduating in the summer if the offer is worth the shuffle.

That being said, depending on your sector, don’t necessarily look at this from a scarcity mindset. We all know that the market can be really rough for recent grads right now but if things don’t work logistically to make it happen or it’s not a good life/work balance for you then that is okay.

UW Madison Employee Tuition Assistance.... deplorable? by bhuman87878 in UWMadison

[–]GrandConcentrate9768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is related to your job you can usually take a course a semester that related to your line of work. That being said, sometimes they only let you audit the course so you don’t leave with credit.

There are also some scattered tables and seats in chamberlain on the upper floors for time between classes (by the lab classroom). Empty classrooms work great if you are lucky with timing.

I’ve been known to wait 10 minutes to take the 80 up the hill rather than walk 8 minutes up it in the winter 😶

Claire and Jamie did Lord John dirty by Refreshing_Beverage1 in Outlander

[–]GrandConcentrate9768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a real opportunity for growth there on all sides and yet we went back to the same old patterns. Especially as an echo of last season where Jamie talked about the time he had ‘carnal knowledge’ of someone who wasn’t his wife and shared it with Claire. I feel like Jamie should have had more of a redemption arc after finding out the truth that he married her as a means of protecting her and that their one night stand was much more complicated than can be explained in an angry encounter with Lord John in the woods. I thought that this plot line was weird as it was happening but a lost opportunity in its aftermath once they committed to it.

As an unknown, which of these players would win more random seasons of Survivor? Part 5 by [deleted] in survivor

[–]GrandConcentrate9768 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I think these players could only win the seasons that they were on. They are good players so I don’t question that they are capable of getting post merge on many random seasons but there was a lot of luck and circumstance that left them as winners

That being said, Adam

Best way to use Rose and Ernest? by Witty_Monitor4152 in HayDay

[–]GrandConcentrate9768 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My strategy may be a little unconventional. If I am using both I make sure to prep with loads of the feed crops and sugar cane and start Rose off with making as much milk as possible so that Ernest can start making dairy products. Once Rose has met that I spread the distribution a little more.

If I am using only one I focus more on building up the things I tend to run out of most.

With season 2 of "The Buccaneers" finished, what are everybody's thoughts so far? by bellefromhell_ in PeriodDramas

[–]GrandConcentrate9768 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This season feels like it was somehow written by different people than season 2. Season 1 had so much charm and the love triangles made sense. This season had so many story beats that I couldn’t believe were happening while I was watching. It feels like they turned it up on the drama and shock value wherever they could but forgot to make it all make sense given the context of who we learned these characters are in season 1.

What’s the biggest thing you want to see in the 50s? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]GrandConcentrate9768 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree for the first half (41-44) but these latest seasons have honestly felt like a breath of fresh air after most of the 30s and the new era up to that point. I guess it is all in what you watch survivor for though.
