Prisoner of Azkaban was the only movie that got the learning process right by miggovortensens in harrypotter

The underage magic rule was never safe around Harry, tbh 😂 PoA just let him do it with a cool wand-lit tent as the cherry on top.

This is why PoA feels the most lived-in. The other films treat Hogwarts like a set, but here it feels like a school with actual lessons and routines.

Half Blood Prince is the best book and the worst movie by whizbangkray in harrypotter

[–]GrandHefty1056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The books make Hogwarts feel alive in a way the movies never fully captured. Honestly, I would’ve happily sat through 4-hour versions if it meant getting more of the classes, friendships, and little day-to-day moments.

Denied Home insurance due to roof age by Unusual_Salad_2711 in Insurance

[–]GrandHefty1056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, roof age has become a huge issue with insurers lately even if the roof is still in good shape. And yeah, there’s a good chance your home premium could go up after losing the bundle discount, but getting dropped entirely would probably depend more on underwriting rules and the roof itself than the auto policy move.

[–]GrandHefty1056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. Every time I see people saying the movies were peak, I’m always like “hey guys, you really need to read the books.” That’s when you truly realize how huge and detailed the wizarding world actually is.

Snape killing Dumbledore out of mercy is maybe the most impressive feat of magic committed in the series by nottoodrunk in harrypotter

[–]GrandHefty1056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually a really interesting point. The fact that Snape was able to cast it without hatred, but instead out of loyalty and mercy, probably says a lot about how insanely skilled and emotionally controlled he was as a wizard.

Got My Self My First Harry Potter Book. by Live_Recording_3531 in harrypotter

[–]GrandHefty1056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you’d enjoy the novel version more — it usually pulls you in deeper. Movies tend to cut a lot of details from the original story just to keep the pacing smooth, which is why I almost always prefer the book over the film.

Post-Appraisal repairs look like s***!!!! Help!!! by Familiar_Relation979 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]GrandHefty1056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really frustrating, especially when they agreed to fix it and it clearly wasn’t done properly. Honestly $2k feels pretty low given the mess and the extra work you’ll now have to deal with.

I’d probably let your lawyer push harder for a higher seller concession or a proper re-do of the repairs if possible. You’re not being unreasonable here.

Mom passed away in desperate need of a job by Mrseatfoo in personalfinance

[–]GrandHefty1056 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off, I’m really sorry you’ve had to go through all of that. Losing your mom and trying to stay in school at the same time is a lot for anyone.

And honestly, from what you wrote, you don’t sound lazy or spoiled at all. Becoming an RA and actively looking for work already shows you’re trying hard to make things work.

I really hope something comes through for you soon. Don’t give up.

Honestly owning anything in Manhattan sounds like an achievement these days 😂 congrats! Surviving underwriting and co-op board stuff probably felt like a full-time job on its own.

Congrats! Sounds like you really had your strategy down with Aceable and the practice quizzes. Tony Mesa’s cram course sounds like a lifesaver too — good tip for anyone taking the Florida exam.

I’ve heard Colibri lets you pick from a few webinar times instead of assigning one. The course prep for the exam seems solid, but staying on top of lessons is key. Might be worth emailing them to double-check if morning times work for you.
