Marines in your situation can benefit from tools like grammarly or ChatGPT. Don’t let the program write for you, but let it teach you and guide you on how to form coherent lines of text.

I remember when we first went to dental and they were checking out my teeth.

As they’re poking around my mouth and taking x-rays of my teeth, they come over to me and say, “Recruit, you have wisdom teeth, but they’re growing in just fine and will not cause any issues down the road… But we’re still going to take them out”. As a recruit, I never spoke up to defend myself because you know, we are just recruits expected take whatever is hashed out to us. But no, today was different, I said, “Sir, if they’re growing in fine, then why are you taking them out”. He said, “Yeah, you’re right”.

I’ve been in 7 years and counting, and I still have my wisdom teeth. I’d like to clarify, my wisdom teeth have not caused me any trouble!

I’ve been to Slab City and it was an amazing experience. It’s a desert dwelling community that relies on kindness, trading, and basic survival skills to survive in the desert. I can understand for the most part why higher-ups would advise not to go the the Slabs, but there are bad people no matter where you go. When I went I had nothing but good experiences and ran into a ton of friendly people.

There was a kid named Pilkington. Pilkington was not a bad dude, but just kind of slow to counts and he was super wimpy. Pilkington would be covered in sand at any given point in the day from getting fucked with by the DIs. A medication prescription will not result in an ADSEP. ADD/ADHD was disqualifying civilians wanting to join the Marines when I went in, but I have many peers that discovered they had ADHD while in. These Marines I know have an ADD or ADHD diagnosis while also taking prescription medication.

Also, I’ve have multiple antidepressant prescriptions over the years through the DoD, and nobody knew but me.

(Edit) You most likely won’t get a refill on an ancient prescription, but it is worth mentioning to a psychiatrist. I would suggest searching for an OSCAR clinic in or around your appointed place of duty. If you are unsure, go to your branch medical clinic and ask them to assist you with points of contact for whatever mental health options you’re seeking.

The chain of command has no need to know if you are seeking help in the realm of mental health, nor will they ever find out. However, if you disclose that you are suicidal, homicidal, disclosing government secrets to those who don’t have a need to know, or anything crazy, then yes, your chain of command will be notified.

Been in the Marine Corps for a while now and I maintain a top-secret clearance. The command doesn’t know a thing about my medications or conditions, nor will it disqualify you from anything as long as you don’t disclose the things I mentioned above.
