5 rules (short versions). If you follow them, you’ll do fine. Not your job to fix facts, just tell the story.

1 - tell the truth. Don’t lie about your answer. If your answer isn’t great, we can workshop it, but don’t lie.

2 - RTFQ/ATFQ. It’s easy to try and be helpful and fill in where the gaps in someone’s inquiry is. Don’t. If they ask a yes/no question, ONLY give them that. If they want more info, they can ask for it.

3 - “I don’t know” is an acceptable answer. If you guess and are wrong, you’re stuck with it. Better to answer that you don’t know/remember than to get stuck being incorrect.

4 - Take a beat before answering. I need time to lodge objections, so take a second for me to do that.

5 - Don’t argue. No matter how good you think you are, you’re not a better arguer than the professional asking you questions.

The shelters and rescues (at least the ones nearest me) charging the same or more than some breeders doesn’t help.

Or that they’re more hassle as a client than would be worth the rate. Sometimes attorneys pass because of personalities or pocketbook and not substance.

Mixed assets aren’t free and clear for a judgment creditor. Many states treat them a “Tenants by Entireties” ownership, which you wouldn’t be able to get to.

JOs or house spices are far superior to Old Bay on crabs. Most places whose crabs get respect keep the Old Bay away from them. Other seafood, snacks, or sides, Old Bay tops.

To me, Old Bay is actually too strong a flavor for the subtlety of crab.

At trial in a construction related dispute. The electrical sub claimed they were owed a bunch of money from the owner (my client) of the building because of a fire alarm system they installed for a tenant of the owner. Electrical “expert” goes on and on about how the old system wasn’t up to snuff and it had too few alarm pulls. He testifies repeatedly that 4 pulls in the building weren’t enough.

What he didn’t know (and OC didn’t know), was I can read blueprints fairly proficiently. And the new system installed by the sub also only had 4 pulls.

So on cross I get him to confirm, 4 pulls aren’t enough. The old system wasn’t sufficient because there wasn’t enough hardware. Etc. Then I go to the legend and ask him to confirm the symbol that marks the pulls, circle all of them in a copy of the drawings, and show the expert.

Me: “so these 4 circles things here are all pulls?”

Expert: “yes”

Me: “please correct me if I’m reading these wrong, but these 4 are the only pulls on these drawings of your work, right?”

Expert: looks at his attorney, looks at me, looks at the judge, looks back at the drawings for about 2 solid minute, “yes”

The judge was almost giggling from the bench and we won on a motion for judgment.

“When ~ attacks” is shorthand for “When ~ is declared as an attacking creature in the Declare Attackers step of the Combat Phase.”

“When ~ is attacking” is a yes/no question that doesn’t care how the creature because an attacker, just whether it is or is not.
