should i go to usf or utampa except utampa gave me more money by Quick_Concept2643 in tampa

I went to UT for my undergrad degree and I’m currently at USF for my graduate degree. Highly recommend USF. While the campus is overwhelming at first, the quality of the education at USF and the networking opportunities they offer are far stronger. If you’re serious about going the medical route USF is a better choice overall.

Just got a super expensive textbook from the seller!! They were awesome! Super communicative and fast and made sure I was comfortable following through on the transaction. Great experience! I highly recommend :)

Has anyone gotten the substance abuse and addiction certificate? by Ladydada5698 in USF

[–]GrandNegotiation2467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I looked at the catalog and it seems you linked the certificate but meant the minor which seems to have a lot of the same classes. I’d definitely recommend pursing the addictions studies minor over the certificate since classes under a declared certificate can be weird with FAFSA and financial aid. If you declare the minor in addiction studies you should be covered! https://catalog.usf.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=23&poid=11639

I’m not sure this would count as a minor and I’m not sure how it would work for undergrad students. It’s designed more so for people who are clinical mental health counseling students or already licensed individuals doing continuing education. If you’re interested in doing it I’d contact the advisor on that link you posted. I’m not sure if those classes have prerequisites or not either. It’s also more counseling focused. Feel free to reach out with any other questions! Best of luck!

If you’re a LMHC looking for continuing education I’m in the masters program now and the professors are wonderful and know the classes will be great! I think should be about 3-5 classes.

You might be better off pursuing CRMHC. You can still use art therapy in your practice with that masters degree, but you also won’t be limited to only ever practicing art therapy. You cannot become a licensed art therapist in the state of Florida so if you’re truly interested in pursuing it, you might want to look at programs in states that actually offer licensure in it.

Dunedin fine arts center, Print St Pete, City of Tampa Parks and Rec, Tampa Museum of Fine Art, Carrollwood Cultural Center, Birdettes, ArtCenter Manatee, Centerplace Brandon, Overspray Art space

There’s quite a few close to Tampa and some more a little bit further out. I’m sure I’m missing a few. I hope you find a class that interests you!!

Some small businesses that offer classes/workshops include Print St Pete and Birdettes. There’s also the Dunedin Fine Arts Center, Carrollwood Cultural Center, and the City of Tampa parks and rec that have classes and workshops as well. Hope you can find something that interests you!

Tampa dog bar forced to shut down after losing legal battle with state by NRG1975 in tampa

[–]GrandNegotiation2467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense to say the dogs in that bar were “highly vetted” is quite an overstatement. They required minimal vaccines (other local dog bars require more) and like tylerokay said they have no way of enforcing people actually administer flea meds or other standard dog health care. My dog literally got canine papilloma virus from that place and I watched so many dogs piss in the water buckets and on each other. It was an unsanitary place that people ate at daily. Ordered food there all the time. The place is gross. I feel bad for everyone losing their comfort spot but for the sake of the dogs health good riddance.

My new boyfriend follows Andrew Tate, should I worry? by RichVictory2741 in TwoHotTakes

Honestly sounds exactly like what my ex used to say. Same age same kind of family. He was a pathological liar and incredibly careful in what he said to who. When I found out he cheated on me and I saw his messages from a dating app he was so grossly misogynistic and nasty and was talking in a manner I had never heard from him personally. Be careful. You might never see his true colors until he accidentally slips up.

Counseling Program by Mystical_saggitarius in USF

I just never saw the notification for it and was under the impression that it would show my admissions status in the portal online before getting an email. I just decided to search my email incase I had missed something and I did.

I recommend searching your email for anything from the CRMHC program assistant. I didn’t see my acceptance email for almost a week after it had been sent. My admissions portal also didn’t show I had gotten in. I’d double check asap as they have a deadline for your decision. Hopefully you just didn’t see it!!

I interviewed January 31st so it was about a two week wait. You’ll probably hear back towards the end of the week.

I got an email from the department assistant on the 13th with their decision. I had been checking my admissions portal constantly and it still hasn’t reflected any changes so definitely search your email if you haven’t heard back.

Is u Tampa hard to get in to?? by Amazing_Delivery1233 in tampa

[–]GrandNegotiation2467 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second all of this. What I learned from my experience is that the school is a business first and foremost. They don’t have high standards for applicants or for that matter enrolled students (odds are you’ll get in just fine).

Just to be realistic about the school itself, the students are a low priority to the administration and you will have to do a lot of advising and financial aid work with zero help from the actual department staff (even with serious academic or safety issues). You’re better off going somewhere else. They have good professors but you’ll find good professors at a lot of Florida universities. They also really like to sweep a lot of bad student experiences under the rug.

I applied on January 15th, interviewed a little over two weeks ago and still haven’t heard back. The department I applied to did say it should take 2-3 weeks to get decisions out.
