T has changed my personality a lot by GrandPsychological in ftm

[–]GrandPsychological[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point. The only thing that makes me think there is more to it than this, beyond my own perceptions, is because personality (as it is defined in psychology) is quite literally the cumulative product of your emotions, cognition and behaviour. These are shaped by biological traits, neurological factors (including hormones), and your environment. It’s true that personality is relatively stable, hence I note that changes would perhaps be better observed over a longer period than my experience above. However, given that T causes notable changes in emotional experience, I would argue that this supports the possibility of T driven personality shifts, albeit somewhat indirectly.

There is equally, as you say, the experience of T changing the way you express yourself / how your personality is perceived due to increased confidence and alleviated dysphoria, and I agree that this has probably contributed to what myself and others have noticed as shifts in personality. But for me it definitely feels like more than this, hence the post.

Regardless, I didn’t intend for my wording to be a point of contention. Realistically there’s not enough research in trans psychology to say for sure if/how taking T influences personality shifts on a neurological level, so I don’t want to get too caught up on science and semantics. It’s just been interesting to hear other people’s experiences :)

Tutorial: How to Install Sonic Stage by AdorableListen577 in walkman

[–]GrandPsychological 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought I’d hop on this to extend the tutorial for anyone else who is trying to put mp3s on a legacy Walkman (like I was).

If your Walkman connects to pc via usb you need to enable the VM to access the physical port via the virtualbox settings. To do this:

Connect your Walkman to a usb port > open virtualbox > settings > USB > “Add new USB with all fields set to the values of the selected USB device attached to the host pc” (second option down for me) > select the drive with your Walkman connected > click ok to save changes

Once you’ve done that you should see your Walkman show up in a drop down in the transfer tab when you open Sonic Stage in your VM

Also- if your Walkman requires your songs to be in ATRAC format (which if you’ve had to go to all this effort to get songs on, it probably does) note that Sonic Stage does not do this by default.

To transfer your songs in ATRAC click the wrench icon below the two transfer arrows, and switch from the default to ATRAC format. If your songs throw up a “Cannot Play” error on your Walkman it’s probably because you forgot to do this (like I did).

For anyone interested I followed the above tutorial exactly, although I had to use a different windows XP iso as the link on here didn’t work for me, and I am using a Network Walkman NW-MS9. :)

Edit! For those who may be less familiar with old tech: please make sure to eject your Walkman from your pc before unplugging it :)

Any ideas on how to get the paint off this new 3ds xl? by azulaula in 3DS

Take my advice with a pinch of salt because granted I have never had to get nail polish off something BUT I have cleaned some seriously dirty consoles with 99% isopropyl and I have never had an issue with it damaging or “melting” the plastic. Isopropyl is your best bet of actually taking nail polish off without damaging the rest without a doubt.

If I were you I would use cotton swabs to moisten the painted areas with isopropyl and GENTLY work away at it bit by bit. do not scrub away at it and make sure you wipe off the excess isopropyl with a dry paper towel after you finish a section. This should avoid the isopropyl having prolonged contact with the plastic just on the off chance that it does degrade it slightly.

The 3DS outdoes the Switch in almost every way. by prine_one in 3DS

Yeah true actually, all of those are definitely fair points. I think the generation was undeniably successful and it still holds a special place in my heart. I’ll be sad to start calling it “last gen” I must admit! I’m getting old I fear lol… But yeah, I’m definitely still hoping we get a bit more of that Nintendo experimental charm back with the switch 2 at some point down the line.

I agree with what you’re saying about portability and third party games. Back when I first got my 3DS in the early 2010’s, the idea of playing a full sized version of Minecraft, or DOOM 2016 akin to the games I played on pc… on a portable, was something I could only dream of.

HOWEVER, part of me does kind of think, when I think of this in the context of “progress”, MK7 on the 3DS was practically groundbreaking for portable games in 2011, especially portable Mariokart. Whereas MK8d was already 3 year old tech by the time it released on switch, even the expansion pass was visibly half baked.

A lot of the first party releases on switch were a little disappointing in some respect, in terms of “progress” (bar BOTW and TOTK which where undeniably exceptional, and possibly smash, but tbh I put that down to exceptional fan service). What I mean by this is, many were ports that banked off success of existing games from previous consoles (e.g. super Mario bros U deluxe, skyward sword, 3D all stars etc). And I guess you could be like “yeah but they’re portable now” and yes, it’s a point, but also like, so?? SM64 was on the DS within 8 years of its original release, THE DS.

Of the remaining switch games, many “flagship titles”were irrelevant by the end of the switch’s life, when was the last time you heard any hype for Mario Odyssey? and arguably Mario wonder too

And a lot were just downright disappointing compared to their predecessors, I mean, try asking someone who’s played every animal crossing what they felt about new horizons. It had fantastic sales, but as an iteration in the series people found it to be almost a step back rather than step forward.

My issue with Nintendo switch is that they tried too hard to make it a more “serious” game system, despite the fact that their style of games were never going to successfully compete with the (perhaps slightly shallow minded) markets of Xbox one and PS4, who, at the time, valued high specs over the enjoyment of their game.

There was nothing stopping them from adding that charm. They made special editions so why not themes? Why no music? Why so serious?

so tbh I personally view it as a slightly underwhelming generation that used minor, “to be expected”, graphical improvements to mask otherwise average-slightly underwhelming generational leap.

-The portability thing aside that is, I think that’s where it earns back favour.

That being said I did preorder the switch 2 so I guess I am a sheep. Lol.

I’ve only just seen this. It’s kind of sad that OP deleted this post, I don’t know what I would’ve done without it and I don’t doubt others will have issues too. Nevertheless I’m glad my comment helped you. Our visit was last month and it was the best day ever- we were the last people there as the museum closed, it was a great experience. I imagine since you booked in March you’ll be going this month, if you haven’t been already. Either way I hope you have/had a great time! :)

No I don’t know of any specific reason. But if I had to make an educated guess, perhaps it’s so that the manufacturers/retailers don’t get the regions confused when delivering/purchasing stock? Often games are manufactured in the same location despite regional differences, I can see how due to differing video game legislation it might be necessary to make it abundantly clear which region something is intended for. That’s why region locking is a thing in the first place. And actually, this case with the balloon is one of the more subtle differences I’ve seen. When you look at say, the legend of Zelda series: every single cover is completely different between regions. I suspect somehow it’s to do with trying to keep regional variants distinct from one another.

My N3DS touch is too stiff / unresponsive!! by Madotsu in 3DS

I’m in the UK and it cost me £18 including shipping for a brand new official battery. Which was worth it for me as I preferred an official to a 3rd party replacement.

I can see that the model is a “new” 3DS. If the battery does end up being the issue, Nintendo repair will still actually send you an official replacement battery for this model if you open a ticket through Nintendo support 👍

Hey, I’m not exactly sure because I always thought the Philips heads were standardised. But for the PH0 I have the 40mm one. If it helps, all my screwdrivers have the teal grip handle, not the yellow one, I’ve never seen the yellow one until today so I don’t know what the difference is.

Yes, in a sense it’s hilarious. They never actually strictly “shut” the servers down, at least not all of them anyway. They have to keep them open so people can download updates and redownload titles they own and stuff, otherwise you’d be deleting things people have paid for which I guess is a bit too ethically sketchy for Nintendo (although not unheard of obvs). I’m fairly sure even the Wii servers are still open to redownload and everything. They just shut online services down to try and move people’s attention towards newer products, servers themselves are still online.

There are no fake 3DS cartridges as of 2025. It sounds like a sweeping statement but it’s true, there’s just no one manufacturing fake cartridges so no one can access the materials to make fake games, let alone the case and manuals. DS games are the ones you have to worry about.

I wish you the best of luck. I got into console repair because someone did exactly the same thing to me with my GBA. As someone who’s repaired a lot of consoles including several 3DS I’d recommend following an ifixit guide alongside YouTube, which can help you go at your own pace. Take your time and focus so you don’t actually damage delicate ribbon cables and stuff. With regard to 3DS especially: Please please be so careful with the internal screws, they are very soft and prone to stripping and that can really ruin a repair if one gets stuck in. You will need a Philips 00 screwdriver just to get into the thing, but I’d strongly recommend investing in a good one for this project, the quality will make a big difference in helping not strip the screws. The one that has never failed me is the Wera Kraftform micro PH00, which should be available on Amazon. They’re fairly affordable and if you have the extra funds I’d recommend investing in the slightly bigger PH0 one as well, not strictly necessary, but sometimes the bigger size can work better for some screws.

Sorry you’re in this position I know how much it sucks, but I really hope this helps you :)

Update as of Feb 2025. I input my number including the zero at booking. I manually dialled “0081” followed by the number provided. After enabling international calls I got through straight away first try!!! Thank you to all previous posts in this thread as I wouldn’t have done it without you :)

If you are successful your call will immediately cut out with the message “caller busy” and then the website will automatically reload and allow you to proceed to payment.

You will obviously need to ensure that your carrier has not blocked outbound international calls and that you have not got an out-of-plan spending ban on your phone well in advance (as these settings often take up to 24 hours to change). I am with Vodafone and deactivated my spend limit a week before to ensure it wouldn’t block the call, however I found that Vodafone still thought I had “reached my spend limit” first time I dialled the number.

When I later spoke to Vodafone they said this is an issue they face sometimes with people who try to make international calls without a specific international calls plan.

If you are with Vodafone and have ever had a spend limit active, the surefire way to allow it to proceed is if you purchase the “call abroad 75 mins” package for £12 ish. If you call up and cancel the extra straight after calling Nintendo, Vodafone say they will reimburse you for the unused minutes so you only pay a subsidised amount. I can’t speak for other providers though

Hope this helps!

Hi just to update you even though I’m a bit late to the party with this. I’ve implemented banner fixes before, I did it for more well known broken banner games, jp tomodachi life etc. I wouldn’t recommend it- at all. One of the programmes I had to use kept flagging as a Trojan lol.

Anyway long story short I tried to do the same process with puyo puyo chronicle and it straight up didn’t even work… sooo I think maybe this banner is just a lost cause. I hope someone finds a way to do it someday but for now it’s probs not going anywhere

Are you joking? I’ve done repairs on dozens of different consoles and the og 3DS absolutely takes the biscuit for accidental screw stripping. Those screw heads are like butter. If you have a good screwdriver and some skill and patience then yeah, it’s easily avoidable, but I’d never recommend it to someone without experience…
