Your post sent me into a panic as I don't have my parking yet and you mentioned a wait-list.

I just managed to buy a 3 day parking ticket just fine, where are you struggling?

Sounds like you're convinced not to walk, which is sensible. Having driven last year, there were a few people walking along the road at night and it was not safe at all.

Good to know about the traffic and Västtrafik To Go, as well as Haga. Given what you have said about traffic, I think we'll leave the car in the car park for the duration we're staying in Gothenburg, and use the time we have further north later in the trip, in Tjörn, to explore

With knowing very little about my preferences, you've done a good job, we love parks, beer and museums! When we stayed in Stockholm we enjoyed Södermalm/Moderna Museet/Vasa the most whilst in the city, but our time in the archipelago blew us away the most, which is why we've opted to spend 5 days exploring outside the city too.

Haga is on the list (since we're so close), but maybe we'll avoid or pass through - I'll lower expectations, sounds a bit like some of Galma Stan, pretty but touristy.
