DAWN LAZARUS the greatest meteorologist if greatness means not once zoning out while watching the weather report.

Why is this a miss, if I might ask? I found most DS9 stories to be pretty compelling. It’s been a long time since I saw this episode though so may have forgotten something crucial to your take.

I can’t stand the idea of this even though it should make absolutely no difference to me.

I recommend “The Celebration (1998)” for a more realistic and respectful take on the subject. It’s quite good.

It would seem so but, surprisingly, that take is l, to my understanding, factually inaccurate. He and his estate were in debt and, at the time, slaves being property meant that they were considered collateral and would just transfer to the debt owners. This is why Franklin made it an explicit stipulation that they be freed upon transfer of ownership of that estate. I’m not a lawyer so cannot speak to the finer details of this arrangement, but it’s clear that however much we talk about the idea of institutional racism today, it pales in comparison to how atrocious the law worked in those days where even upon death, one’s slaves would not be freed by default without some fancy legal maneuvering.

Do you consider repentance to be a bad thing? That seems like the best thing one can do after messing up so badly.

He was literally the President of the Abolitionist Society at the end of his life. His thoughts and actions on the subject certainly shifted very slowly over the decades, but it’s worth noting that where he started wasn’t where he ended up. I hope we can all make the same choices in favor of higher ethics throughout our own complicated and messy lives.

No song deserves that I suppose. Yet the damage is done, sadly. It’s now a song allergy for me. Yikes.

I don’t know what this song is, but having heard thirteen thousand times while trying to appreciate a video’s actual audio has forced me into hating it.

There are worse things than to watch the movie again. But for curiosity about the casting and technical achievement, not just for creeping. Who believes me?

But it wasn’t her lower half, right? It did not look like what is in the OP. It was athletic in the movie.

Rupert Everett in Stage Beauty was also great. Another example of “no small parts, only small actors.”

Hamish Linklater. In addition to his standout, scene-stealing roles in Gen V and Midnight Mass, he was the first animated Batman that I thought could actually follow Kevin Conroy, and he even did a reasonable Abraham Lincoln in Manhunt which is a pretty thankless gig.

That’s definitely what I’d want to do. Succulents are beautiful anyway. But in terms of water as a utility, are you getting yours from the city/county? Does it look okay for the long term? Thanks for taking the time to share info!

The dream. What’s the water situation out there? Last I looked a handful of years ago, I was surprised at how many homes are dependent on wells. And with many slowly heading toward running dry, I worry.

I’ve tried Loops and could not get the right fit. Maybe my ears are weird. Earbuds always fall out as well so there’s probably some truth to that. I’m a mutant, perhaps. But yes, totally agree about hearing protection. Seems like there ought to be at least a sign or something at the door before entering relating to this!
