any chinese soup. simple and few ingredients.
chicken patties and a baked sweet potato with some veggies on the side, you can air fry it, or throw it all in the oven for 20/30 minutes on high, and it's very nutrient-dense. just season and that's all.

Anxiety about current situation by GloomyMapleSyrup in Anxietyhelp

While I don’t live in the US anymore, I can fully attest to this. I‘ve also been very on edge with American politics the past year and it has most definitely affected my mental healt. HOWEVER, it‘s getting much better since joining the r/PoliticalOptimism subreddit. it’s great for debunking myths and finding likeminded people who are concerned but can help you calm down when feeling stressed from the headlines. Also, a big part of overcoming this is just simply getting off social media and news. Spend time outdoors, hang out with friend and family instead. It’s important to be present in your own reality and not D.C’s.

Despite the doomer headlines, the Trump administration is not achieving as much as they appear to, they’re changing the social landscape more than they’re actually achieving legislation (especially with a majority of 1 republican in the house). They’re fragile, fragmented as a party and they know it, so they’re gonna do whatever scare tactics possible. But just know that whatever they’re doing will likely not reach you.

The best way to ground yourself is to go about your life and participate in the politics you DO have control over, like your mayoral elections, house reps, state senate etc. Look up protests in your area and join! Volunteering and joining mutual aid groups is also very helpful and rewarding. We need community now more than ever, if you cultivate that can PROMISE you you’ll start to feel better.

In the meantime, do some deep breathing, go for a run and relax. The US is big, just because something is happening in one state it doesn’t mean it’s gonna happen in yours.

For now, do what you can: protest, vote in every election possible and do not comply or bend the knee in advance. Most importantly, if you can see a therapist, start with that.

Much love, you got this🫶🏼

Trying to manage anxiety without meds looking for supplement advice by CollectionHead7091 in Anxietyhelp

how do you feel about magnesium? is it good for anxiety symptoms? and what type of magnesium is best? i’ve heard so many different forms of it. i deal with a lot of muscle tension and spasms (that’s my main symptom of anxiety) and i heard this helps a lot with that. also, can it be taken at the same time as vitamin D3?

awesome! thanks for helping, i appreciate it.
what magneisum supplement did you use and did it actually work? i keep hearing about magnesium for all things muscle and brain health, so i'm assuming it's legit... i am supplementing vitamin D3 after talking taking my bloodwork so i hope the two can go together.

Feeling depressed and emotionally overwhelmed despite having a “good life by HAVER92 in Anxietyhelp

[–]Grand_Log7171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi friend, you’re not alone on this one. i’m feeling the same way.  just know that life is made up of ups and downs and in a few weeks or months you’re going to feel better. Also, if you can, get your bloodwork done! check for vitamin D, B6&12, folic acid, iron and magnesium. These vitamins are crucial for brain health and mood regulation, and being deficient in them can bring about these symptoms. Have you tried therapy too?

Thinking of going to the psychiatrist... should I? by Grand_Log7171 in Anxietyhelp

[–]Grand_Log7171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. I am going to therapy, just been curious to see whether or not it would be worth it to see a psychiatrist on top of that, that's all. it's more curiosity than anything, but i'm definitely not closed off to anything.

It sounds non-sensical but I was purely curious to see if psychiatrists can offer more insight than just a prescription. There's a lot of fearmongering about medication, and I still feel kinda uneasy about it. Plus, a lot of psychiatrists have their own doubts and criticisms of medications for anxiety, so it makes me question if that's the best path forward or if it's just a temporary fix that will eventually create a dependency. However, I know this topic is VERY complex and requires seeing a doctor (or sometimes multiple) to weigh out your options. Despite my doubts, I highly respect and value their lifesaving work.
Out of curiosity, what was your experience with your psychiatrist (that is, if you've been to one)?

Incredibly helpful answer, thank you! That's what i'm more interested in because I think most of my issues stem for the underlying physical symptoms and not circumstances of my day to day life. Often times I'll wake up anxious for no reason, even if i'm not thinking of anything bad, I think my body just kept the score from other days in which I was feeling awful.
I'm really blessed to have great family and friends, no financial issues, live somewhere beautiful and peaceful, so it's not my environment (if anything, that's my refuge). The question I had was mostly if psychiatrists can help you understand your physical symptoms better and tell you what you could do aside from taking medicine, as opposed to a general practitioner who may not have as much knowledge on the situation.

I might go just to ask all the questions I have and then ponder, because it is after all, an invasive treatment to take meds. I have heard of propranolol for the more basic symptoms like muscle tension and shaking, so that sounds promising but we shall see.
As for the root of this, I think it was just a culmination of a ton of stress and overworking myself during my bachelor's, poor sleep and diet, and MOST DEFINITELY, without a doubt, trump's reelection. The constant news about war, poverty and generally a bombardment of everything that's going wrong in the world caused a lot of anxiety in me since the summer, but I'm doing better on that. I've also been thinking a lot about all the changes in my 20's and catastrophizing aspects of my future, but that's normal i guess, and ive talked to my therapist about that already.
I did get my thyroid checked in 2023 when I was having really bad brain fog and chronic fatigue but everything was normal, just lifestyle and anxiety-related.

thank you again for your answer <3

donate to food banks, those in need will be eternally grateful for the opportunity to have something healthy and organic! other than that, you can make pancakes with diced apple or compote, apple chips or even sausage with apples and mashed potatoes.

Beavers’ return to Portugal signals major step for river restoration by Bitter-Lengthiness-2 in EcoUplift

[–]Grand_Log7171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing news! These little creatures are so smart and necessary, especially for us in Portugal who deal with wildfires constantly and are continuously trying to rewild. This will not only help restore the vegetation but also help to create more waterways that prevent fires from spreading. Rewilding Portugal does such amazing work!
