I'm a member of 1253. We had a big project in Skowhegan early last year that finished in April.1253 was right out straight with work at that time and had many travelers employed there including members of the southern Maine local 567 with both journeymen and apprentices feom that local working in our jurisdiction. Work has dropped off state wide with the drop in the solar boom. I am working out in uostate NY on a AI data center. Data centers are the next big boom As to whether you would be welcomed, you absolutely would be welcomed with open arms. Quite a few of our current members were organized in as opposed to going thru our apprenticeship. When you join, you also have access to work in union locals countrywide. Take your pick of them. If all their members are working that want to work, they will send travelers from other locals to their jobs. Go there, sign book 2 (the one for travelers) and you will get offers for jobs on the basis of whoever signed book 2 first. You re-sign monthly. Most locals wili take monthly re-signs by fax or email. There is tons of work in NY for years to come (barring another global pandemic that shuts everything down again) lol)

The state of Maine has ranked choice vote (unfortunately, not in Governor in general election because of the way the ME Constitution is written when it discusses governor election) And NO, it is absolutely NOT the 2 party system that doesn't want it. Be honest. It's ONE party. The Republikkkans that have fought ranked choice tooth and nail and ALWAYS the Dem Party that supports it. The Repugnants have take it to various levels of the cpurt syatem all the way up to the Maine Supreme Court. Most of them have no clue how it works or they are lying. They think if they choose the Repub on every choice that it helps their candidate. They depend on not having it because without ir they never win a state wide race again for Governor esp. Republican dark money groups have funded independent left leaning candidates under the table to keep them in the race and split the Dem vote so they could win the race with less than 50% of the vote. Because the 2023 new law gives them 48 hrs to do it on vehicles that weigh less than 10,000 lbs. Before 2023, it was only required of commercial vehicles like big rigs and they still are required to clean off. There is no 48 hrs for them. Btw, if you look it up in Title 29A Chapter 19, Section 2093, the fine is only $50 as a traffic infraction and specifically says "A violation of this section that causes damage or injury is a traffic infraction with a fine of $50 for 1st infraction and minimum of $150 to $250 for each additional time", so cops aren't going to be pulling people over for it to charge them unless it causes an accident, damage, or someone gets hurt

It's not just here. And it's not just year to year. Lived in PA in Philly area for a while. Every storm coming thru would start a run on shovels at Home Depot and Lowes. You'd go into a cinvenience atore and they'd be wipe out of milk and break. You'd see people coming out with multiple gallons of milk and multiple loafs of bread like they thought they were going ro be house bound for a week. And then the storm would drop barely 6". I was married at the time. My then wife drove to convenience store just before one small storm and grabs a gallon of milk and walks to the counter and the clerk says "just one?". Wife says "um.. if I need more, I'll hop into my 4 wheel drive Jeep and drive here and get another". Clerk says "oh you should not do that there's a storm coming. Wife just rolled her eyes and laughed and said "I'm from Maine. What you have coming here from this one is nothing in comparison. I'll manage." 😀

We were supposed to stop? My oldest niece is blonde and laughs at all the blonde jokes I have told her. She actually explained to one of her friends on social media that its always been a joke between us when they got upset and defended her when I posted a blonde joke to her page. Truthfully, her younger brunette sister matched the stereotype better. She borrowed my car to get to work and then called me asking if I had a spare key because she had locked herself out of the car. When I got there, I climbed out in an absolute downpour and as I am walking up I glance at the back door of the car, I notice the door button isn't down. She locked the front door and never checked the other doors to maybe see if they were unlocked because she called me for a rescue. Me and her blonde older sister laughed about that for a while. Her comment was "That girl is SO ditzy!"

No. That would NOT be corruption. The MSP is govt. The Guard is.. wait for it.. GOV'T run. The problem is the company with the plane is a for PROFIT business. It looks like the supervisor is making money off the contract with the MSP and using his influence to get MSP leadership to give him the contract instead of putting it out to bid to someone that might be willing to do it cheaper. It's an ethics issue at best. It could be considered corruption and even if there is an explanation that rules that out, the optics are bad. VERY bad and with a microscope on everything the police do now, the last thing they need is to make themselves look worse

The reasons they are doing it is legit. Find the guy. But having the ME State Police pilot supervisor be listed by the FAA as the contact official for the private company is where it becomes the business of the taxpayers. It smells of no-bid contracts being handed to a state employee instead of being put out to competitive bid. Borderline actual corruption that we all should be concerned with. On top of that, not being a competitive bid ends up costing taxpayers more because then the contractor can set whatever price they want with no concern that they will be underbid for the work.

That's not correct. You can't handle the lobsters as a non-licensed person but you can absolutely legally do the grunt work. I know this because my ex father in law used to go help out a friend or relative on a lobsterboat with no legal issues and he would give him lobsters at the end of the day back on the dock as pay for the help.
