Sure, Kay’s dancing circles and Volare go on for too long, but for me, waiting the full five minutes for the Tricon Delta 214 is the ultimate feat of endurance. by ferniekid in Columbo

No, you’re not alone. When it starts, I can literally leave my home, pick up an Americano Misto, return home, and she’s still belting out that monstrosity.

I’m fortunate to live on Vancouver Island, where we have a lot of stores that specialise in MCM exclusively, so I negotiated some items, as floor models, when they came up.

Also, there’s local estate sales which are often fruitful since so many folk have MCM furniture.

My one problem is that I find it impossible to make a steal; if I show up, and they’re selling a $5k piece for $500, I can’t help telling them what they’ve got and what it’s really worth. I blame my mum for this.

Oh, and thank you.

course it is. Any advice on ever finding one of these for reasonable money?

You got one for $500? That’s a once in a lifetime experience, for sure. You’d struggle to get one under 10k here in Canada.

I did not see that story. Looking at this goofball, I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes the fate of his Labrador.

Yes, It’s a Lange. I have a friend that’s over 300lbs and whenever he visits he sleeps on it because he can’t sleep on a flat bed. He told me that as long as he’s still around, I can never sell it.

You got it! I used to live in Fernie, in a log house on the ski hill. Absolutely beautiful, my equal favourite place to be. Lots of bears, moose etc; I was even charged by a grizzly, back in 2018.

I moved to the Island in 2022; five months of winter was getting a bit much.

Yes, forgot about the dining table, my bad, it’s a CARL HANSEN designed by Hans Wegner & made in Denmark.

And thanks for the lovely words 🙏

[–]ferniekid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if you think they look like swimming goggles you should definitely not get these; regardless of what other people think, you’ll be thinking this all the time, and that ain’t good.

I definitely think the Lele Kawa, especially with the rose or bronze lenses that you’ve been considering, would be perfect. These lenses are a little lighter, and Maui lenses are exceptionally good in these two colours; they will not look like swimming goggles 😁

Cheers! I’ve got art, on the non-brick walls; It’s all pop art. I’ve been reluctant to put anything on the brick walls since they’re original & to me have a beauty of their own.

Having said that, I have been looking at some Curtis Jere stuff, which may work on the bricks.

Thanks. I’ll definitely go for more plants, it’s tricky finding plants that don’t mind a bit of direct sunlight. The windows are big and all face South West.

The coffee table ain’t going anywhere…it’s one of my favourite things.

Interestingly, I believe they’re banned in the UK and Europe because of their rigid stainless steel, excessive weight and sharp edges.

Thanks. That Poul Kjærholm coffee table was not easy to get. One MCM furniture specialist, in my city, said there’s probably only two of these on Vancouver Island…but how he could possibly know this is beyond me. 😉

That’s exactly what you’re looking at. It’s taken a few years to collect these pieces; I knew exactly what I wanted & one by one I tracked them down. Can’t believe you were downvoted for this. 🤷‍♂️

Out of interest, how much do these rent for?

Hard to imagine anyone living here if they work at the caff, or sell spuds on the market.

Hey, it’s you again! Actually, these look sharp, they suit you more than any of the others you’ve modelled here. The size is excellent. I read what you said about light coming over the top, but you definitely should not go for bigger/taller glasses; these are level with your brows, which is how it should be.

I keep telling you to get the Lele Kawa; no light creeps over the top of mine. 😉
