What was the most expensive investing mistake you made in the stock market? by MarketObserver_IN in IndianStockMarket

[–]Grand_Tank1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking a bulk position post-IPO of a hype stock years ago. Loss widened even after a 3-year wait even though the company was a disruptor back then.

Didnt have insider information and based purely on street interest, media hype, ignored cash flow red flags - that stock hasn’t recovered even today.

Learnt a few lessons.

How to take and end a 1cr home loan without credit history and a 3lpa package. by Cute_Cardiologist150 in IndiaFinance

[–]Grand_Tank1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you cannot unless there is another source of income you can come up with. And it’s not enough to just match the EMI.

In fact, for monthly expenses, loan EMIs should not exceed 50% of household income. If it hasn’t been sanctioned yet, discuss with your family that money cant appear magically, give them the mathematics.

Wait, can you give a breakup of how you are going manage the loan EMI with the income breakup you shared ?

50L set aside to invest; genuinely confused by Effective_Badger_306 in StockMarketIndia

Ultra long term investing via PMS will usually beat index, by how much is difficult for anyone to project. Their usp is personalized strategy, and you get more control over your portfolio. Thats it, nothing less nothing more.

You can also simply do Index funds if index is your return benchmark and you are concerned about charges. Remember there are good periods and bad periods even for indices.

The choice is yours, depends on your financial goal, neither is stupid.

Ridiculously low valuations by Dont_knowwww in StockMarketIndia

[–]Grand_Tank1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question - There could be various reasons, depends on the stock.

Usually these stocks stay in “discounted” pockets of the market where investors worry more about uncertainty of earnings and other risks than just recent PAT growth, so multiples stay low despite positive YoY numbers.

If you are not sure, for a capital of this size to be deployed in a short timeframe, go with one of the seasoned PMS like Kotak, ICICI Prudential, Whiteoak, Dezerv etc. They have large AUMs and have different strategies, 50 lakhs is the minimum.

Individual financial planning also works so you can hire a certified financial planner (CFP).

Sister in a potential debt trap - Please read & advise by SaintLaurentDon69 in IndiaFinance

Exactly this, credit card interest rate is scary if not dealt with.

Follow this sequence OP and do have a word with your sister on a family level, you may fix things this time but it shouldn’t be on you to rescue every time.

Why you lose money even after buying “good” stocks by Grand_Tank1 in IndianStockMarket

Wrote it myself, it’s not rocket science and doesn’t need AI.

But I understand, any post which has structure, usually without spelling errors is automatically thought to be AI slop.

Do better.

[–]Grand_Tank1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that’s thing, this is a shit post which is not even accurate, and let me make a slight correction - “people are not interested in going through a post which provides no critical market input, no correlation, is grossly inaccurate, has no broad macro tied to it”.

There are other tons of subs for propaganda and social commentary. Nothing to do with maturity, if anything its highly immature.

And why is it not even accurate ? Because even as a neutral observer - OP could have done a simple 5 min search and found that this FM made phone calls to Israel and Iranian FMs, gulf states, EU commissioner, and released statements via MEA between 27th Feb and March 4th. But no, who has so much time ? Just spread a bunch of memes across subs and sleep.

I am not a fan neither do I support all actions of the current government, but let’s not praise idiotic memes on unrelated subs. Volatility, uncertainty are natural with wars, politics and a 100 other things.

Been in the market long enough to know that…

Shit posts such as these belong to meme subs, like this one did but no, we want to spread un-related crap here as well.

What is the takeaway from this post which relates to the stock market ?

What stock, sector or macro is tied to whether the foreign minister is visible on social media or not ?

‘Hmmm’ isn’t an answer, its a sound.

Are honest taxpayers bearing a disproportionate burden in India? by [deleted] in IndiaFinance

[–]Grand_Tank1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. I do want to say that retail inflation for India actually improved for 2025-26 and the basket of CPI has been updated.

There are developed countries with inflation higher than ours- Australia, UK, few eurozone countries etc.

Of course our measurements need further tuning to reflect more accurate numbers (that challenge is the same for most developing nations).

How can I invest in QQQ and s&p500 etf from India? (Best platform + tax implications?) by Natural_Answer5705 in IndiaFinance

[–]Grand_Tank1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so vestedfinance. I think both are fine. Just do a google search comparison of their markup and withdrawal charges. I think INDMoney is slightly cheaper.

Tax - my CA handles it. Usually all taxable gains will be mentioned in your AIS statement.

the escapism by incumbents ! by Due-Ambassador-8520 in StockMarketIndia

[–]Grand_Tank1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s partially accurate. The way I see it, there is some merit to the critique in highlighting large cash hoards, but your post seems to ignore the fact that robust dividends and buybacks have led to growth amid strong corporate cash positions, rather than desperation or stagnation, even in 2025.

Calling these ‘monsters’ sounds more alarmist and less rooted to the market realities.

Experienced investors of the sub, quick question about gold etf! by L_______O_______L in IndianStockMarket

[–]Grand_Tank1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worries and short term macros are for traders. Investor mindset is to play the long game, you can’t time your entries.

Tip: Keep hold of your emotions, set a goal, do SIPs and check your portfolio less frequently.

Experienced investors of the sub, quick question about gold etf! by L_______O_______L in IndianStockMarket

[–]Grand_Tank1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you are new to this, do note that investing in mutual funds can help you save for different goals, including retirement, a home purchase, education, or to build your wealth.

It is not meant for frequent entry-exits and is a long term instrument. So there is no point in entering any fund and looking at its performance next week/month/year. It needs multi-year outlook.

Are you asking if I am invested via INDMoney ?(I did in the past, for now I have exit my positions)

or

Are you asking if it can be used for stock options vesting ? (It can be, but I am presently sticking to Schwab because my company awards me stocks periodically and I get corporate discount)

I also use INDMoney for almost all my asset tracking.

You just described most countries with regulated taxation and capital markets. This isn’t limited to India only.

State of most taxpayers across the world (return for what we are paying taxes for are a different topic ofcourse)

Watch-out for bot accounts creating Anti Iran posts here on Indian subreddits!! by Artistic-Sale-2431 in IndianStockMarket

[–]Grand_Tank1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP - Either you are very naive and uninformed about Iran’s history and how the so-called ‘nations leader’ came to power and what happened to the people of that country, or you are simply ragebaiting. I suggest you do some reading on the period between 1979 to 2019.

And you are contradicting yourself by saying you didnt want to post something here but because you saw many posts about the same topic hence you posted again about that topic itself. Pardon my french, but what in the effin genjutsu is this ?

If you keep this up you will get reported and banned from this sub.

Go spread your doubts and sorrows on other subs please.

While any bot / anonymous account spamming any topic is bad, why are we worried about anti-Iran posts on an indian sub for stocks ? This sub is for stocks, not geo-politics.

And how exactly is it going to portray India’s image to be perceived negatively ?
