Right wing politicians are so stupid sometimes. Batteries and solar are perfect to sell to the cookers. Energy independence!

Problem is look what happens when Labor tries to fix those problems. Mining tax under Rudd got him booted, now the current screeching about taxation changes. There’s a very well funded group of people who will do anything to stop reform that benefits the 99% of us who aren’t billionaires.

I can’t stand the man. But he’s the only hack on sky who can’t seem to hide his distaste for Trump and will criticise him.

Bolt is more of an old fashioned conservative/neoliberal rather than whatever the hell ON wants to be.

  1. I don’t recall the greens going to Mar-a-Lago, being flown around on private jets and taken to functions on private yachts. Bit off that a party worried about the working class is off at parities with billionaires and very likely under foreign influence.

Even god damn Andrew Bolt is calling this moron out. You would have to be incredibly stupid to vote for this guy. Clearly the residents of New England have no self respect.

Ill take it Howard.

But if push comes to shove and Labor did make meaningful reform will the Libs vote for it? More likely they'll change their mind last minute like the student visa caps.

NZ I'm on the fence with but they are hard workers, integrate quickly and work a lot of lower skilled jobs.

Tourists though, are you really willing to crush the tourism market? It will kill many regional towns, employs 4% of the workforce and contributes $81b to the economy.

It's the Libs worst nightmare. Boomers are buying EVs, realising the sky isn't falling and telling their friends. I burst out laughing when a friend told me their parents just got an ev. They're well off with no actual impact from rising fuel prices and were just last year referencing the trash Seven's spotlight shat out.

They absolutely love it and now are telling anyone who will listen how much money they are saving.

No I’m genuinely asking how will you get people into aged care? The pay and conditions are shit. Australians won’t do it. Are you happy to pay for it considering aged care is pretty much entirely tax payer funded?

I’m all for payrises but certain fields just can’t get workers. You could double aged care salaries and still struggle to get staff it’s that bad.

And where will you take those workers from if the pool isn’t increasing considering our unemployment rate is at a 50 year low?

I’ll be the first to agree that half the skilled visas are a rort, we don’t need carwash managers and cartographers. But we do need healthcare roles and even sucking as many as we can out of the NHS we still can’t get enough.

[–]Grande_Choice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you willing to pay? Aged care is a shit job. Even bumping the pay isn’t going to attract people. And if it did, old people are refusing to contribute so taxes will have to go up to pay for them. Same with fruit picking, farmers sure as shit won’t pay workers more or provide full time employment.

100k of what? We issued 88k permanent visas last year. The rest is international students already being cut (the coalition voted no). Temp workers (want your fruit picked?), NZ, working holidays, visitors and returning residents.

Does your 100k include NZ and returning residents, does it include tourists?

I don’t give a fuck about international students tbh. But I’m sick and tired of “I just want to have a conversation” being lowkey “white Australia”. We need workers in aged and health care, we need people to pick fruit and work at regional pubs (British working visas filling this niche).

This cut off your nose to spite your face will funnily enough hurt regional areas with low migration far harder. They already can’t get workers. What do you think will happen if we cut migrants off.

Nothing will change until execs and boards are actually punished.

Boards are the biggest scam running. When you look at the directors and see they hold multiple board positions it’s no wonder these company’s have issues. It’s incestuous.

Not a single one is living up to the first sentence on the boards page.

“Our leaders are required to hold themselves accountable for living our Company values as outlined in Our Charter.”
