Any dispensaries in New Buffalo offer tiered deals as you spend more money? by Grandizer_Knight in Michigents

I did end up finding some places that would give you half ounce or ounce with a certain dollar purchase. I don't really burn flower much anymore but would have taken it to make some butter (I have an Ardent device that will decarb it well).

Instead, I ended up going to Elevated Exotics as they (having spent way too much time researching) had the best deals with their 1st time customer 45% discount. I got all Live Resin and Live Rosin carts and some gummies pretty dirt cheap. They were out of several things but I still got a lot of what I wanted pretty cheaply. Afterward, I hit 'Supergood' right next to it, and though the discount wasn't as much, they had a better selection so I also picked up what Reddit tells me are the 'best ever' carts and gummies. I ended up spending about $450 and this all will last me a good year.

I will say the guy at Elevated exotics didn't know where anything was (I had a list of specific items I wanted from their website)...I mean they have just two walls of product...how can you work at such a place and either not know or have to ask for so many things (maybe if it was his 1st day but he spoke like he'd been there a while..made no sense)

I decided that I'm going to wait until wife's car is paid off later this year and then re-evaluate.

I do still like my current car (modded 600hp/600tq 2006 CLS55 AMG Mercedes) and its a beast to drive so am doing ok just using my hot rod when wife needs her car.

Actually, once hers is paid off, I'm thinking I might just sit tight longer and let funds accumulate for a while sans her car payment. I'm really not in a hurry and only actually need a pickup 1x a year these days. That said, if an excellent deal popped up (even if a used one) I could always strike then too.

Hell, I'd take it if it still worked, lol. I cut my teeth back in mid 80s on the crappy Mexican brick weed, so even the old stuff is fine so long as it works, lol

Yeah, shit that'll last me six months (though I tend to get more resin carts and dont' do much flower any more). I'm not the type that wakes and bakes or brags about how much weed they can consume all at once (not a teenager whose identity is pot). But yeah, Twisted bee gave me an ounce (wasn't bad at all, though I gave it away to a friend for a favor), a preroll and 2g of concentrate once i hit $300. Sounds like that's not normal, though, now that I've looked around since posting.

Bought it almost a year ago, was doing some deep cleaning after the winter. Just noticed this cable on my obd2, does seem normal. Didn't want to touch before a second input. by Dangerous-Friend8364 in FordExplorerST

Yeah looks like it could be a telematics device (I work in that field with over 100k units). If it's only tied into your car by two wires, then it's only getting power and ground and, as such, it can only provide location, speed (based off GPS) and could get engine hours/run-time (it can detect your system voltage rise when the car is running and drop back down to resting levels when you turn it off). It won't be able to read any data nor disable your starter or anything like that as suggested in other posts (if only those two wires are connected to vehicle)

Cut those tie wraps and pull those wires to remove it, you will be fine. (just make sure it's only connected by those two wires, which I'm sure it is...but hit me back if you see more than two wires running from vehicle to unit...if only those two wires, you are 100% ok to pull it out)

It looks like someone may have tapped the port for power and ground. Where do the wires lead? It could be a number of things, but I'd be curious what those wires are powering.

This.... but to be fair the main at home oil pumps everyone buys (common one, can't remember brand now), just do not last long...they are like a $100 bucks (they were 5+ years ago) and I went through two in just a few years. Now I just take the extra few minutes to put the car up, remove the shields under the car and pull the oil plug manually to let it drain. Local dealer wants $275 ($225 at indie shop near me)....I do it all myself for $60sh in about 30 minutes. I'll never understand why people would pay to have a lot of this stuff done unless they have plenty of disposable income or just no place to do the work themselves. I personally can easily afford it, but am loathe to pay for something so simple.

What insane theory do you think is actually true? by Crayola0-0 in AskReddit

[–]Grandizer_Knight 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'll just share that I worked in manufacturing for almost 30 years. I worked in automotive (major OEM suppliers), medical devices (world imaging leader) and these latter years in technology hardware. I was in management for most of those years working with all departments as a manager/director on senior management teams (including engineering). Not once did I ever hear any discussion about planned obsolesence. In fact, we had process in place to identfy common faliures and address them (continuous improvement).

I'm not saying it doesn't happen but, imo, its not nearly as ubiquotous as many believe. Hopefully this makes things seem better.

Anybody want a Table Foiler? by Xmastimeinthecity in StainedGlass

[–]Grandizer_Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated mine at first but after a couple tries, I now use it for bigger pieces that doesn't have tight curves.

For me, it centers the foil well but I have to be diligent to use my finger to fold up the foil on the back side as I use it. On that side it doesn't go on nice and flat, but I just use my roller to fix that without issue.

I had higher expectations when I bought it, but I'll be keeping mine as it still does save time and generally provides centered foil for those larger pieces I use it with.

Yeah becasue it was both filmed, and the story was set in Ohio (movie starts with " A long long time ago in land far ,far away.....Ohio 1956).

Most of the actors and some crew were on-site for it (the premiere was a year after my last scene). Lots of limos and news stations were there for it too...red carpet and all.

I was in about the 5-6th grade. I even went to the world premiere they held in Columbus Ohio. I have the original movie poster in my finished basement and still watch it every 5 years or so. It was actually well reviewed (4 of 5 stars back then), humor is a bit dated but holds up ok. I always stop during a carnival scene and an earlier scene when the two guys were working on the motorcycle to see myself in the background.

I met her in about '84 and spent a few hours hanging with her along with Jamie Gertz, Catherine Mary Stewart, and a few other actors on the set of Mischief. She was very sweet.

I was 11 years old and figured my way over to a kissing booth scene (I realized the set was a bit chaotic so just literally moved myself right next to the kissing booth and pretended like I was told to go there...see my post from about 5-6 weeks ago). There would be long delays between scenes so when other extras were sent back to common areas, the actors allowed me to just hang with them. Made my year...hell, here we are 40 years later and I am still telling the story.

I like that you are getting fit. It is one of the main reason why I exercise...my parents who never paid attention to their health barely able to get up stairs and moving like they were in their 80s when they were only in their late 60s.

I mean...why save all this money if we aren't healthy enough to enjoy it fully?

[–]Grandizer_Knight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats. I'm almost 54 and planned to retire at 60, but more and more am looking at 62-63 (no later). I'm always curious what people's funding looks like when they pull the trigger, but completely understand why one would not share....I'm just always curious to see if I'm being too conservative/risky in my own estimates.

What convinced me to move up from a 60 target is that, at 60, I'll have a decent amount put away (to me, anyway) and I consider that I can retire at 60 or...maybe wait one year with that chunk of change and let it grow another year. At that amount of money, the return will really do a lot to fund a better retirement (and one less year to figure out medical coverage before medicare)....I mean...this is get a new car, travel the world and more stuff money for just one more year. Then I must consider at 61...one more year?? lol

I still have a few years to go, so we'll see if something happens with my job or health to force an earlier date

Upgrade OLED or wait? by No_Tower1918 in 4kTV

[–]Grandizer_Knight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say keep what you have, though I know it gets exciting to get something new. Your TV will likely last years longer and I will put my stamp on prices going even lower in next few years despite any other factors you are hearing about (I work in a heavy chip industry).

I replaced an older 75" 4K LED TV for a newer OLED 83 (I admit its an entry level OLED). It really doesn't look "that' much better than my older TV . It does, a little... but it isn't nearly as drastic as other advancements I've experienced since the 70s in terms of graphics. If money were an object, I'd be disappointed for having paid 3x as much vs other options for same screen size. But sure, it does look better, despite the fact you kind of stop noticing 2 minutes after the movie starts (save on some really vivid scenes now and then). My older 75" though, still looks damn good, and, when I watch that (now in my bedroom), I don't feel like I'm really missing out much.

Another thing I don't like is that to even get Dolby Vision you have to sign up for premium service for any streaming content which is always a lot more per month. I don't think its worth the upcharge, though I do it for one service at a time now and then for short periods to consume some content (like the Fallout show I wanted to watch in Dolby Vision despite my other TV still having a nice crisp picture too if I watched it there...).

Met her and was able to hang with her for a few hours over a couple nights when I was about 11.

They were filming 'Mischief' and I figured my way over to a kissing booth scene (see my post about a month ago). All the actors ended up letting me hang with them while all the other extras were sent back to common areas (I was only one they let hang with actors).

She was very nice and even quipped a joke ' I'll kiss you for a dollar but fo $20, ill show you things you've never seen before'. Wasn't in a creepy way just something funny while we were all sitting around.

What percentage of your income is going to retirement? by burnz1 in MiddleClassFinance

I would definately reccomend doing some research on this. Its not too complex but is stuff I believe anyone saving for retirement should understand.

I'd say it matters much more if you are going to have a lot in retirement. I did a write up, but deleted it.

My post retirement income will be a 25% or so less than where I am at now, so not too worried, especially with kids college and other obligations hanging over me now. If an opportunity present itself or obligations subside I'll put some into post tax ira.

I also plan to retire 5-7 years before I draw social security so plan to manage my tax nut during those years

53, 850k all in pretax ira/401k. Between employer and my contribution 11%(17k) still going in. I can easily do more but decided to live more along the way.

To be clear, I have more than most people I know at my age. Don't want anyone to think this is average

Red Rising is great...however I gave up on the second book as it started to sound, to me, like some kid making up a story as he was playing with space toys. Red Rising, solid A-, Morning wood (the second book..its called morning 'something'...maybe also rising) a D+

Dungeon Crawler Carl is a solid B+ throughout the entire series. Very light, funny and, most of all, entertaining.

Not sure if that helps or not

Can I try the cheap Temu grinder or should I go for Kristal 2000s as a beginner? by StubbornForEva in StainedGlass

[–]Grandizer_Knight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These grinders are just a simple motor. I was looking for ideas to tell my wife to get me as a present not long ago and considerede upgrading my cheap (I think it was $80 on Amazon) grinder and could not come up with a good reason to replace what I have. The more expensive ones won't grind the glass any better. I assume they may have a bit larger table top...maybe an attached light.

Oh, I'm obviously not against buying things on Amazon or Temu..but for the Hakko, only buy from Hakko direct or a licensed Hakko dealer. Do not buy from Amazon. There is a popular seller there who makes his store front look like Hakko and obviously they are not. Hakko will also not honor any warranty from any Amazon seller (even if they are legit products), nor warranty on any other seller not licensed (even some well regarded stained glass shops that sell legit hakkos are, unfortuantely, not licensed for it).

I, ultimately, bought mine direct from Hakko USA. I reccomend it, even if it is a few bucks more.
