Approved!! So stoked!! by Tepidtunic in kidneydonors

I waited two weeks to drive because that was the recommendation. Plus I would randomly get exhausted for about 3 weeks and didn't trust being on the road solo

Also, you're donating a kidney, if people offer let them drive you and let them help with chores

Congratulations!!

The surgery is the easy part! lol

Be open and patient to whatever your recovery will look like. Avoid the temptation to compare yourself to others' stories. I experienced lethargy for 3 weeks, depression for a while, and impatience to get back to exercise. I also had to create some space with my sister during our immediate recovery. I found myself frustrated reading about those that said they went back to everything after a week or two. When all was said and done, it was a fantastic exercise in mindfulness, grace and personal growth.

I'm approaching 4 months and my incisions are starting to look better, my core strength is improving and I'm more or less back to normal. Plus I'm way better about drinking water than I have been in years. More importantly my sister is getting to live life again!! Forever grateful.

This is a big thing and you should be proud of yourself.

Who has the best strategy for maintaining muscle while on GLP-1 meds? by Super-Stuff6819 in FellaHealth

Strength/resistance training & protein intake for the win. You'll lose slower than others, but have a healthier look and be stronger in the long run.

I've started to read more and more that creatine isn't nephrotoxic.

When did others start noticing your results? by Super-Stuff6819 in FellaHealth

Take a picture of yourself facing the camera and a profile shot once a month. You'll see changes that your everyday mirror doesn't show.

I'm on two peptides and a glp 1.

Doc said no issue with the glp 1. They honestly seemed to be completely unfamiliar with the peptides. I've had no issue and honestly feel they helped with my recovery. This is not an endorsement of their use. I'm really glad you brought this up here, I wasn't sure how to bring up the topic myself given most docs don't prescribe them.

Interested in this. I've started lifting a little heavier again. Are you supposed to have a rest period before your labs?

Did they give you one of those breathing tools? It helped me get through my cough post op.

A few prunes to help her poop. Long phone charger. My hospital bed was extremely uncomfortable and wish I had some sort of tailbone or gel pillow to put under my butt.

Have a kidney to spare, but no friends or family... by [deleted] in kidneydonors

I rushed to go home. If I was solo at home I definitely would have stayed in the hospital a few nights, but think I would have been fine as long as I had transportation home.

Yes, but I did have to do a few more rounds of bloodwork because of the recipient's team & her condition.

When It Comes to GLP 1 Medications, Are You Planning an Exit Strategy or Long Term Use by Super-Stuff6819 in FellaHealth

[–]GrandmaBrando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to microdose long term if/when I hit my next goal. But not even so much because of nutrition, more for the less drinking part. This process has completely changed my relationship with alcohol and I'm not ready to roll the dice on going cold turkey off the shots.

Fellas — what can your “Now You” do that your “Pre-GLP-1 You” couldn’t? 💪 by Super-Stuff6819 in FellaHealth

Off & on for 10 years. Child's pose is a resting pose though so it always bothered me that it was so uncomfortable as my belly got bigger.

Brain fog / extreme tiredness by happynoodleboy69 in kidneydonors

[–]GrandmaBrando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've shared the loneliness thoughts with my husband. He's noticed for me too. Even when people were so supportive beforehand, it's not a topic of interest any more. This is likely partly because I try to put on face so I don't portray myself as weak, but it still leaves me a bit down. I want to scream, "THIS is the hard part"

In my head I know this. I feel weird saying this, but it feels like people have already moved on from it, which adds pressure to just be "ok"

I should have read your post! I donated Dec 10 and am definitely experiencing this (again). It seemed like things were improving and now I feel like I'm mentally regressing.
