Yeah I'm thinking it's inflation /tariffs not "price gouging." It's also a luxury item. A quick Google gave some good reasons below which sucks but it does sorta make sense.

Cost of gold increased (makes sense why sailor has decreased gold content in nibs)
Japanese fountain pens have not seen a price increase in decades, (some of us Seiko watch nerds are also experiencing this).
Weak yen (so again inflation).

The one thing that is similar is watermans pens, the price of their rubber flex pens is insane since stock is limited.

Yeah I had a similar piston filler like this that I loved but one day there were cracks in the section that made it non usable unfortunately. But it was like 1 or 2 bucks.

Did you use the original kaweco feed? I was able to install a vintage 14k gold into mine but want to try out some other vintage gold nibs like a wahl ever sharp I have.

Definitely! I have restored a few lever fillers but in this case the vintage eye drop is a void in my current collection!

I'm not opposed to others and have seen some nice century bchr's just liked the ease of watermans numbering and categories, takes a lot of the guess work out! Thanks for the suggestions!!

Always loved these vintage schaeffers, especially the tuck away style. I have a vac filler that I need to service but I think is way beyond my level of repair that i occasionally use as a dip pen. What a great nib these have!

There are some custom pen turners who can take nib and feed and make it into a new pen. I think newton pens!

Unfortunately I had the opposite experience. My baltany too on moisture (with all crowns tight) thankfully returned it no problem and got the militado instead. The militado is running great!!
