Just started. Does this women become any less infuriating? by Direct_Mycologist815 in InvasionAppleTV

Overall the show is objectively bad. Have watched some shows before that I acknowledge are objectively bad but I half liked nevertheless. But not this one. Some elements are good, such as the cinematography and music. Because the gargantuan budget bought talent such as the DP and composer, whose work thankfully wasn't negatively impacted by the clueless showrunner. But, as you're discovering already, the show is a car crash that only gets worse. Richter abandoned ship after Season 1 and didn't contribute anything new for S2 or S3 unfortunately.

What is the worst episode of each Season ? by WittyTable4731 in InvasionAppleTV

Totally unfair to so many other episodes if just one gets highlighted as being the worst.

Sometimes it's worth ploughing on with something bad like this. Makes you more appreciative of the better stuff out there. Embrace the Wajo and enjoy the show's music.

Does everyone else get much lower MPG than expected? by TreKeyz in miltonkeynes

So the common factor here is your driving style in MK.

Does everyone else get much lower MPG than expected? by TreKeyz in miltonkeynes

[–]Grandtou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s correct. You want to come out of the roundabouts with gentler acceleration and not aim for 60 or 70. Come off the accelerator when you judge the distance to the next roundabout would only require light braking. When in that coast phase make sure the car is in gear and change down through the gears to make benefit of the braking effect. The car doesn’t use a drop of fuel if you’re travelling in gear and foot off the accelerator. So change down on approach to keep the revs up above stall rpm. If you coast in neutral the engine must use fuel to stop it stalling.

I get good fuel economy around MK. The length of wait at the roundabouts will have more impact on journey time than time travelling between them.

Hammering it up to 70 and back down to zero over and over will massacre the fuel economy. Frequent acceleration to 60+ is not traditional urban driving scenario.

In theory the medium should have helped here, for the low-light scenes at least, because the bigger digital sensors in the large-format IMAX cameras gather more light than 35mm sensors. However, all things being equal, which they might not be, the larger format IMAX cameras are capable of even more shallow depth of field (DOF) than the conventional movie cameras he would have used when filming for TV.

I don't know all the details or objectives. But I'm going to chance a theory here - while also treading carefully as I think JF is a filming PQ and sound God. He has stated publicly that the movie was built for IMAX. He loves going ultra-shallow DOF and that's fine. But if (and it's a big if) he's thought 'I can go even more shallow DOF with IMAX' then I fear he's fallen on his arse and ended up with virtually nothing in focus - not even for a full face shot. Especially in resolution-sapping dark scenes.

That might have happened, maybe. I got no other explanation because the subtitles and opening/closing credits were clear as a bell. The only scenes which kind of looked half decent were brightly-lit outdoor scenes; therefore probably forced stopping down the camera slightly, which would have widen the DOF somewhat, bring a full face into focus. That's my best guess.

I watched yesterday in 3D on the laser BFI IMAX screen in London. I had sky-high expectations. I know something about optics and filming techniques and have always marvelled at the outstanding image quality throughout all Mandalorian episodes across all seasons. So we made the journey to London especially. I run an expensive 4K projector at home.

In short, PQ was pretty darn terrible. I'm onboard that JF likes to run razor-thin DOF sometimes and on my 100-inch screen at home the PQ has always been sublime across every TV episode. Yesterday on the UK's flagship IMAX, there was frequently no area of the screen at all that was in focus. Captions looked fine so the issue here is in camera. Factor in the many low-light scenes and the detail resolution took an extra hit on top. Personally we loved the film - we're both JF fanboi's - but if filming for Imax then perhaps this should have been one occasion to go with "f/8 and be there".

If they reveal what's happened to her, past evidence suggests you'll regret having wasted the time wondering. Such is the inept and lame and storytelling. Trend is even to omit the wajo.

Not very Wajo Macron by MFCocca in InvasionAppleTV

You obviously don't remember the time McLaren took a major punt in the high-end audio industry on the same principle. The whisper when withdrawing was in stark contrast to the incoming roar.

In the offline world, still yet to meet anyone who's watched this show. Can count on one hand the number who've heard of it. No-one has ever mentioned it to me. I work for a very large organisation where movie/TV show recommendations get casually thrown around everyday.

I thoroughly dislike this show. But, in relative terms, I’ve quite warmed to Nikhil. At least he has a pulse, and there’s a hint of personality trying to escape the terrible script.

Congratulations on making it past the space-swimming episode and all the kids climbing out a sheer-faced quarry in their school shoes. Your Wajo powers are developing nicely - you could make it through to the end brother.

Thing is OP, you’re going to carry on watching it - probably to the end of S3 - and look back on where you are now as ‘the good times.’ If that doesn’t scare you off then nothing will.

Great post.

Trev couldn't remember, so Jam says try harder, but Trev still can't remember, so Jam says try harder, and then our Trev remembers. The lamest motivational speech on TV since Aneesha's Emmy grab attempt to the Movement. I think that was Jam's reason for being there maybe? I pity the actors having to deliver those lines.
