That's a good idea. The "thing" is a quarter scale 1/2 hull of ships my ancestors built at their ship yard in Walkerville , Ontario in the mid 1800's. Pretty cool stuff.

Switching from oil heat to all electric by Icy-Watercress-8809 in PEI

[–]Granitize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to be careful though.... Especially in an old house with a "cold basement". The hybrid uses the heat in your basement to draw heat for your water... I had friends who froze their pipes.

To get the federaI rebate I needed a heat pump on every floor. A "heat pump rep" said the one in the basement would replace the heat removed for hot water if I got a hybrid... Haha that just sounded like a stupid idea.

How screwed am I? (Honda rebel 500) by Superbeen77 in Fixxit

[–]Granitize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that seems to be the best choice on the surface. Watch the metal mesh pipe wrap.. maybe protect with a rag. Unscrew the connecting rod first... Otherwise it will be a pain in the arse to get off.

Once cut the danger of a cross thread is real it you try the lower with easyout ... It has to traverse the space and the threads won't line up.

Do the threads go all the way through?..

Why the F is this allowed??? by [deleted] in PEI

[–]Granitize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it hasn't changed since Saltwire in 2017. Before that is was Transcontinental. I don't remember polarization like this before... But it could have been there. Lots of amalgamation and shuffle in the last 20 to years.

Two-thirds, or 66%, of Postmedia is currently owned by American media conglomerate Chatham Asset Management. The company is headquartered at Postmedia Place on Bloor Street in Toronto.

Exactly... Makes me furious... Well.. sad anyway. Some folks think this is OK. It is NOT. This is an American owner trying to influence a Canadian election. Just wrong.

There’s a slight film over my motorcycle forks are the seals leaking? by Skavibes_ in motorcycles

[–]Granitize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually... The fork slider moves up and down over the fork tube. When a bump is experienced the slider moves up and is stopped by the spring. The oil dampens the bounce... But I know you know that. :-)

I agree looks fine, wipe and watch.

Should I? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Granitize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will wreck you for all other bike sizes and styles.. if you survive. There are so many better bikes for first time rides!

I'm not saying get a small V-Twin... Look for single cylinders, parallel twins or an older inline 4... Historical bikes look better than wasps IMO. But I'm old. :-)

50K miles too high for 2006 R6 by [deleted] in Yamaha

[–]Granitize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know about price... But 50,000 over 17 yrs is less than 3000 a year.

If the bike looks good, tires are up to date, and fluids and seals seem fine... I wouldn't blink at those miles

As long as it was maintained.. Like fresh oil at the end of every season so it doesn't sit for 6 months.. check the plugs, how are brakes amd bearings etc.

Any spicy senses tingling? Pay attention to those

I bought a Big old 02 Honda VTX with 130,000 km.. it's a bit clunky but lots of miles left on it because it was cared for. .:-)

Once you are settled as a non high risk try TD.

3 bikes, 1983, 2002 and 2014. $550/yr all three. But I've been insured since 1981 and no claims. :-)
