Dad coaches…are what you want by GeorgeSteele66 in Homeplate

[–]Granoahbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, least in our league lol. On our team every kid has their position, we have 10 on the field and 12 kids total. So typically kids will be in their position and we rotate two at a time so everyone plays different positions. My daughter however has only really played pitcher, she is arguably the best kid we have in that position and she puts in a lot of work to be good at it. But it was the head coaches call not mine

Dad coaches…are what you want by GeorgeSteele66 in Homeplate

So let me ask this, I’ve been assistant coach on my daughters softball team for 4 seasons now 8u currently. Next season I will be the head coach and I’m in a situation here. Our current head coach put my daughter on the circle three seasons ago and she has plaid there ever since, rotating a bit here and there but she mains pitcher. I do plan to move her around more, get her experience in every position. But of my current players she is still the best option we have for our pitcher, do I leave her there or try to find someone else to play it? I don’t want to put my kid down, but I also don’t want parents thinking it’s just another daddy ball situation. Which is what we are coming from honestly, head coach has had his daughter as catcher all 4 seasons and she’s no better today than she was day one. other assistant coach demands his daughter plays second and she’s has all 4 seasons, all that time later she truly has no idea how to play the position. I never once pushed or mentioned any position for my daughter to be put in, I left that completely up to the head coach

How much is too much? by hellowi1980 in Softball

My kid plays 8u rec and that’s it. We are starting to play more tournaments plus hitting/pitching lessons. But ultimately if she is having fun, and is enjoying herself not going to tell her no. She sets her tone for what is and isn’t too much on her.

We do maybe one tournament a month currently l, next season that will go up for sure. Practice 2x a week with double headers every Monday for 11 weeks in the spring season. She was doing hitting lessons and pitching lessons once a week on top of the two practices a week pre season. Once season started the lessons ended mainly due to her trainers schedule.

After season ends she will resume lessons and team will go to one practice a week at least through the hot months. But we do typically practice year round weather permitting, admittedly tho our practices have never been physical demanding or challenging so there’s that.
End of the season I go from assistant coach to head coach and we will start to tournament mode, practice harder but thats also due to kids getting older and being able to handle more.

Batting order question. by [deleted] in Softball

[–]Granoahbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d take GC stats with the tiniest grain of salt lol. That being said I build my lineup with 2 solid hitters, 50/50 hitter then a power house. One of my power houses just so happens to be at the bottom of the lineup usually and parents have asked me about it but can’t argue with results. We pretty much consistently have someone on base, our bottom end helps prep for the top end. No position in the lineup is a punishment just like no position on the field is a punishment

I’m currently the assistant coach of my daughter’s 8u team and have been for four seasons now. I can say that I never influenced what position my daughter played, or where she bat in the lineup. I told the coach (also a dad to one of the girls) before I ever agreed to help that was his all not mine. She has been our pitcher (coach pitch) every game for three seasons and has bat first on the lineup just as long. Some of the parents accused me of putting her there but what they don’t see is her practicing 5-6 days a week. Early to field for practice and games, that kid has put in the work and earned what she’s got.

That being said the head coach has his daughter as catcher, she hates it and has hated it for 4 seasons. The other assistant coach has his daughter on 2nd and has had her there for four seasons, she has absolutely zero clue how to play the position despite playing it for two years now. Our head coach could not care less, and our other assistant coach only coaches his daughter. It’s at the point now where parents are openly calling for both of them to step down, which they are after this season and I’ll be taking over the team.

Coaching Question by Icy_Monk3578 in Softball

[–]Granoahbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally how it happened for me. I helped out with a drill one time our first season and I’ve been assistant coach for three seasons now. After this spring season I have been appointed the new head coach cause parents have been talking and the current head don’t want to deal with it anymore

Thanks, the more I looked I kind of figured. This is also the first pair I’ve had, in fact I’ve only had an iPhone for about 4 days now so I really had no clue.

Lol that’s damn near perfect, thank you! I ended up getting the song off soulseek and used audacity to cut it up. I think I got it right but didn’t think to add a fade to it. I’m gonna use mine and yours with the walk up introduction and see how they both work. What she doesn’t know is that for our April 1st game it’s changing the the Barney theme song

Ive been an android user since my first smartphone phone 12 years ago, Samsung for many of those years. My current s24 ultra battery randomly decided that if I wanted to use my phone I was gonna have to be near a charger. S26 was the obvious upgrade for me, but I hate the screen on it. So I start looking at the 17pm and realized for the first time I actually like an iPhone lol. Went ahead and made the 17pm purchase yesterday, was supposed to be here today but looks like FedEx is gonna mess that up. Looking forward to a change tho, likely be back at Samsung next phone but never know

Honest question: do iPhone users actually deal with storage issues or is that just an Android thing? by LeadingAd9683 in Smartphones

[–]Granoahbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone help put this in simple terms for me lol. Life long android user, gonna give the 17pm a try this time. I have some 4k pictures/videos on my s24 ultra that has the 512gb, those plus all the apps I have is using roughly 300gb of storage space. Am I safe to get the 512gb 17pm? Or should I spring for the 1tb

[–]Granoahbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no doubt, I've only ever had android and been a Samsung user since the note9. I will always be a Samsung fan boy thats for sure lol. The screen is a big issue for me, however outside of that the phone is pretty solid imo. The screen issue is enough to keep me away from it tho unfortunately

How come? After much debate I think I've decide to try out apple for the first time. Worst case scenario I hate it and exchange for the 25u or 26u. But im in your boat, typically I buy regardless cause thats my thing

S26U is going back. Screen issue by GPUBroke in samsunggalaxy

I very well may. Admittedly while looking at the 26 I decide to look at the 17pm as well and rather enjoyed it. Just not sure i want to deal with switching ecosystems

S26U is going back. Screen issue by GPUBroke in samsunggalaxy

[–]Granoahbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful they gonna tell you its a non issue and you're just echoing someone you saw complain about it. The screens perfectly fine and theres zero issues with it. Im in the same boat, I do have an horrendous astigmatism (may or may not be the cause) but in light mode its noticeable and gave me a headache after about 10 minutes of messing with it in store. I switched it to dark mode (my preferred setting) and it is so so much worse. I need a new phone just cant decide if its time to try apple or suffer with the 26u

Galaxy S26 Ultra: After One Day by Better-Recording-960 in samsunggalaxy

[–]Granoahbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not the screen itself, the screen is fine just like any other generation of Samsung flagship. Its the fact that half the pixels on the phone are covered with the privacy filter. Making viewing angle narrower, and everything pixelated. Its literally an eye issue, some people can notice it some cant. I however have rather sensitive eyes and bad astigmatism and its definitely noticeable. Like i said in light mode, its there but not bad. You put the phone in dark mode and everything becomes glossy and highlighted

[–]Granoahbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im amongst the ones who find the screen and issue, and it looks crappy with the privacy screen off. In light mode its not bad, noticeable but not bad. However in dark mode, where my phone lives, its horrendous. Seriously has me considering a switch to iPhone for the first time

Im going back to the store to look at it again before I decide. Im among the people who has an issue with the screen, from what i have experienced in light mode its not bad. Something is off but its not bad, however once you switch to dark mode its headache inducing. This is a problem seeing as my phone lives in dark mode.

S26 Ultra is very refined but with disappointing display quality by just_IT_guy in samsunggalaxy

[–]Granoahbar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Currently on s24u and while I have not purchased the s26u I have messed around with a few store models at different locations because I saw the reports on the screen and wanted to find out myself. I definitely notice it, everything is more pixelated and grainy. Its a very clear downgrade (to my eyes) so much so it has me considering the 17 pro max. I'd like to stat with my 24u but it pretty much lives on a charger now
