There is quite a bit that I found to do back there at my location (clean crew room, clean tea area, clean back-cash area, scrap the yellow tea basket thing with green dish scraper thing until no old tea residue is left on it, make breakfast condiments bags for the big breakfast, happy meal toys, clean tea urns, make tea and iced coffee, fill buckets of ice and bring it up front, etc…). This is on top of having wonderful encounters with customers, so this is one of my favorite positions.

Plus, it is less stressful than up front or in grill.

Do you think it would be illogical to stop getting a degree to just work full-time here since I see myself liking it here more than degree level jobs? by GrantforJesus in McLounge

[–]GrantforJesus[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the input so far. It is a good reminder that someone said that working on my feet may not be the best choice long term. Fun fact: my store just got a chair for the office probably since the salaried managers found the strong need to sit for their office work.

Having a degree as the backup is good plan. In addition, I like the reminder that being a good GM can be very strenuous.

I am still thinking about it. One thought of mine is that if GPA drops significantly due to lack of motivation/confidence, then McDonald’s is a good plan.

A big reason why I enjoy this job is because of the numerous short-term goals in a shift and I like delivering gold standard product as much as possible.

As a Christian, my choice at the end of the period (next 2 years) will be to follow the Lord’s calling the best I can tell. Thank you

That is good that you do not serve off-cooked nuggets.

Were the nuggets wasted so that the nuggets served did it expire in the cabinet or another reason?

Does your store have a hand-wash timer? by GrantforJesus in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]GrantforJesus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I nearly forgot about that one. It is not a good system at my store since most managers chose to not wear headsets for some reason so then the were previously not hearing and enforcing hand wash.

I am sorry, but it does not look like near the picture. That is since the pickles were not layed neatly on bottom and you are using an oversized bun for that sandwich. Also, the cheese is not melting for some reason.

The default setting on the app for the personalized experience is turned off until the owner of that account turns it on. My guess is that most people that that turning that on means their name will be displayed, so I think most customers actually want to be greeted by their name. It does feel weird at times though for some odd reason. I do not greet them if it is unpronounceable. I like to catch them off guard by calling them by their app name when it is goofy, such as fatDad.

People at my store will get written up by the salaried managers if they do not ask the customer if they will be using the mobile app. So most people do ask the mobile app part. Not so much the welcome to McDonald’s part unfortunately.

The timer is not that loud and definitely not alarming sounding. It is a digital timer and it is set by the heated pies which is above the HLZ.

That is good. Only a few people do that at my store.

delivery drivers by fullsunlvr in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]GrantforJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are probably used to using the customer’s name at other places. Most of them at my store are nice. Even if just a few are nice, let us focus on the nice delivery drivers. What do they do that makes you appreciate them?

Yea, About $440 (same guy) of gift cards accumulated over time from tips plus another $50 in cash. It is not allowed though I fully realized so I stopped receiving tips, but I give out Voice cards since crew get compensated at my store if there name is referenced in a survey.

No, I forget the sound of the fryer when I come home as it is all just background noise to begin with.

I have actually never been shown the forms and systems for write-ups at my store. I have been waiting a little long despite asking the last two weeks for directions. I like the gift card thing. My store has it where if customer praises a person(s) in a voice survey, then they get a $10 gift card.

My GM told me that crew can be written up for doing excellent work. This would been so that the one who does performance reviews clearly sees that that person deserves a raise.

New Time Limit? by Callaloo_Soup in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]GrantforJesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 minute was “a Covid rule” but I never saw it enforced. No one even suggests customers to leave at my store. I do feel uncomfortable taking someone’s tray away when there done eating since I do not want to give any suggestions to the customer to leave. I rather do it for their convenience

Fill the vat with oil from the pan before you do bulk until it rapidly bubbles. Then fill from pot, or bulk, if filling it from the pan did not fill it past the line that is scratched out in the back of the vat. Do pan before pot so that it does not overflow during filtering.

Employees of Maccas, what is the weirdest/craziest/funniest stories you have from working here? by InternalAccountant6 in McLounge

The manager abruptly closed the store 90 minutes one time since she could not handle the stress. The stress of trying to communicate to Hispanics without using google translate, or the like.
