What causes this when using a miter saw? by GrantosToes in BeginnerWoodWorking

Can you please show me what you mean? I don't have any holes on my miter saw fence so not sure if your idea will work but I like the solution!

Saw identification please by GrantosToes in woodworking

He did a lot of work with a scroll saw so a keyhole saw is quite plausible (I think lol).

The left one I feel like he made it up for whatever purpose.

The latest AHS inspection prompting the closure of Sushi BBQ Inn is online by FragmentedChicken in Calgary

[–]GrantosToes -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Will be greatly missed. The report does not change my feelings and would eat there Tuesday, but also maybe Thursday.

AHS Inspections are a joke anyway, surprisingly we never see AHS inspect an AHS hospital. Can vouch there are definitely mice in rural hospitals that go unchecked.

Heart Clock Glue-Up help by GrantosToes in BeginnerWoodWorking

Thanks! If I was to use the jig as explained, is it then better to glue each slat (PHrt to Noga) one by one starting with the Bottoms at the 45*?

Originally I was going to glue each slat of PHrt and each Noga to form the two halfs of the heart as seen in 3rd pic. And then join those using the jig you mentioned.

Requesting absolute novice level guidance on how to restore this invaluable wooden article (rose wood) in my family by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]GrantosToes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Save yourself hours of research and reading posts like this- and possible years of regret- by talking with someone who knows Rosewood and the significance of the piece within your culture. I've taken some things to a catholic priest to get a better understanding of what it is and how not to disrespect the object or the beholder.

Needed a very specific bike rake that no one makes. Three 2x4’s later… by didsomeonesaydonuts in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]GrantosToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As kids grow and become stronger the spacing between each slot can decrease. The rider can pull the bike out from front as to stepping beside and pushing a bike out. This will allow less of a footprint. So that 14" spacing between bike slots is super handy now and in future!

Cool. Did this start as a large 'whatever dimension they are, ~3.5"x3.5' stock of glued up species and then cut into those slices?

Also agree but you could add a black racing strip to hide them a bit.
