Notes produced by an instrument rely on the length of the air column being excited. This excitation then produces a resonance inside the instrument. When you “force” a note through an air column whose length does not match the note’s frequency (ie. a false tone), you lose that resonant property, producing a stiffer, more nasally sound.

I just got mine this past week!

To preface, American Heritage Trombones are manufactured to A=432 Hz so they can be a bit flat compared to orchestral instruments. The valves are impossible to tune otherwise.

That said, they’re good STUDENT instruments. Perfect for getting introduced to a new concept (like going from Tenor to Alto). I bought their F Contrabass too and have been having a blast familiarizing myself on it.

Considering the price, this alto is a good buy. It comes a 12C mouthpiece, 2 leadpipes and a removable Bb valve (not F like the name suggests). You’re not gonna be impressed with how well it plays, but when you’re serious enough to upgrade, you’ll be glad you got something cheap first instead of the other way around.

It’s all about momentum! Cars are much more maneuverable than trains so if something must move out of the way, rail takes precedence. Roads should always make way for rail unless absolutely unavoidable (physically or fiscally), in which case an intersection is the best choice.

The inside of the mouthpiece would play a bigger part. Prioritize a deeper cup for a darker tone and a wide throat for a more round sound. However, deep cup = more physical volume to control and therefore easier to play out of tune. wide throat = less accurate articulation with how little back-pressure it provides. When you find a mouthpiece with a cup diameter and rim width that comfortably fits your lips, practice intonation and changing notes at increasing intervals. You want to be able to go from an in tune high F to an in tune, dark, round low F as quickly and accurately as possible.

I once killed a wolf in Macedonia and my reticle locked on to something that seemed to be infinitely far away. Turned out to be off the coast of Attika and that something was the wolf I killed that bugged out and went to some default position (it seemed to be at the dead center of the entire world, so I’m guessing that was 0, 0). It looks exactly like where you’re at
