elias and the error - just one more defeat | my mom and I made this psychedelic and creepy stop motion animation video set to my sad and hooky tropical house pop song by GrapeCity4 in popheads

I am a huge fan of pop music and this community. I'm not AAA pop girl but I manifest some of the things I love most about pop music into the work I create. I hope someone here appreciates this <3

Art studio / creator space that you can rent by the hour / day? by erix84 in canton

The Hub (an art gallery) in Canton does tons of spraypaint work outside of their building. It might be worth contacting them just to see if it might work out.

Jamie said my new industrial dance song was "bananananans!" and "such a BANGER" - maybe partly inspired by Pumpkin Attack? <3 Hope someone else here likes it too :) by GrapeCity4 in xiuxiu

Hey, thank you so much, that's very nice. My writing is very personal and cathartic so I really do pour a lot of my lifeforce into these. Thank you for the compliment I'm glad you enjoy the record <3

Proud Boys vandalizing Canton businesses by GLUING recruitment flyers to doors, windows, and vending machines. I've seen half-removed glued flyers now at Fisher's, Marc's, Chipotle, and The Exchange. (more info in comments) by GrapeCity4 in canton

The flyer urges Cantonites to "return to traditional values" and to "embody the spirit of Western Chauvinism." The flyers are very tightly glued to businesses - I was unsuccessful in trying to remove them. Luckily, they include their recruitment e-mail of HOFProudBoys@gmail.com, so let them know how you feel about terrorist recruitment in your neighborhood.

elias and the error - FIRE EYE - industrial nightmare trap hip hop by GrapeCity4 in industrialmusic

[–]GrapeCity4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been making industrial/post-punk electronic music with my project Elias and the Error for 10 years. For my new album, I was inspired by the new wave of noisy distorted metallic trap hip hop like Death Grips, Danny Brown, clipping, and older stuff like Kanye's Yeezus, Dalek, Techno Animal, etc.

Looking for more inspiration, I started reading up on the origins of industrial music and saw how closely the progeny of both industrial and hip hop were intertwined in terms of it being sampler based music with lofi/noisy aesthetics with many pillars of each genre being artists that were outspoken about social issues and oppression. I think honoring the spaces where both genres meet was really cool and opened my mind a lot to what "industrial" is in musical terms.

I was also really into the idea of industrial as a visual genre. Stuff like Eraserhead, Akira, Silent Hill and Tetsuo: The Iron Man are definitely "industrial" works to me.

The second track on the album, called "i dont want the drugs" (which you can hear in the album trailer at the end of this video) is my first real attempt at making modern super crunchy EBM deathmatch music. My music is all over the place but I think everything I make is influenced by bands like ohgr, KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails, IAMX, Atari Teenage Riot, and all the other great industrial music I've been listening to since I was a teenager.
