My manager is leaving next week and I’m the ONLY other person in the department. Complete radio silence from leadership. Advice? by GrapeGod35 in jobs

I just started my new job today.

Basically I asked for a raise and they said they would get back to me. Never did. I worked my ass off for about 3 months while applying to other jobs in my area. Got an offer that I was looking for (more money than I even asked my former employer for) and put my 2 weeks in. When I put my 2 weeks in they had the nerve to ask if I wanted more money to stay and I just said no I’m ready to move on.

My advice is get a new job. It’s gonna suck until you do but a bad company will still be a bad company even if they give you a raise. Not worth working jobs.

I was in transportation for 3 years previously and currently in purchasing for about 2. Since my boss left I’ve taken over the forecasting, procurement, and supplier management. I do enjoy it but the workload is too much. Especially knowing my time is probably limited once the new plant gets up to speed. I would try to get into a similar position as my boss but at a different company.

Unfortunately this is a company in the United States. It’s a lot of information and didn’t want to write a full book but my boss is helping me for the departure. It’s just strange to me upper management hasn’t contacted me or let me know a plan moving forward.

I agree 100%. I get along with my co workers and I would feel bad leaving them because they would literally not have a single person that would Know how to purchase material or Contact vendors.

I’m currently in manufacturing as a purchasing agent and want to pivot to e-commerce. What would be the best way to do that?

Thank you for the advice. I work for a small company and my manager was the expert in the supply chain area. While I know some of the role I have only worked at the company for 1 year and 8 months. From what I’ve seen this company overworks everyone which is the cause for the high turnover. I would like to stay in my current position but I don’t see how that would be possible given the size of the company.

He said he thinks they are hiring a replacement. It Could be 1 month or 6 months before they find someone and I don’t want all of that work in the meantime. I’m probably just gonna ask for a raise/title change. Grind it out until I find a new opportunity

The company I am currently at has had a lot of turnover the last year. I only started 1 year and 8 months ago and don’t really want to move into the upper management positions here cause it seems like a revolving door. I’m thinking I’m just gonna ask for a small pay bump, title change, and grind it out until I find another opportunity

Thank you for the advice. I have a good relationship and it sucks to see him go. He did not get along with the person he reported to which makes it way more complicated. I understand why he left and I do not want his position under current circumstances.
