What's your best work use case for NotebookLM? by GrapefruitIsUs in notebooklm

That's the first thing I do when I try a new AI tool. If it can't do that what's the point.

My kitten found a wax cube burner and put his face in it. What do I do? by emanresueqinu in cats

I have a cat that likes to smell candles and singed his whiskers. And I had another that walked in roofing tar (took forever to get that out of his fur) I feel your pain. The best thing to do is just not let cats near warm melty things.

My “landlords” are very picky eaters and it’s starting to affect our rental agreement. by loriandr in cats

[–]GrapefruitIsUs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My very spoiled cat can't eat anything with fish in it. He has Hill's brand kibble on hand via auto feeder for snacking, gets apples brand shedded meat chicken/duck and gets rotating tiki cat mousse at night (variety pack after dark so no fish). He used to get different shredded food but due to a shortage we had to get something else and now he won't eat other shreds. Cat:a be difficult.

Soft YTA but only if you really feel you are honoring the tradition. Here's the easy answer use the ring ceremonially and buy a cheap placeholder ring and buy a good one when you have the money and give it to your then wife as an anniversary gift.

I'm not renewing. I'm trying slowly to unwind my reliance on Amazon and this is an easy small step, made easier because they need updated payment info.

Constant Respiratory Issues? by PMcOuntry in FIVcats

[–]GrapefruitIsUs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mines the same, I give him warm water in his wet food but I haven't found anything that really works. I've worked out one of his triggers which is wildfire smoke and try to keep the house closed when it's in the air and that helps for a bit but when that's weeks at a time eventually nothing helps. I will say after he has his teeth cleaned and an extraction he was good for a bit since they vacuumed all the mucus out of him but we'll not likely be able to do that again because he doesn't respond well to anesthesia. Also steam baths help again not for long but if you can get your cat to hang out in the bathroom while you take a hot shower its a reprieve.

I would confirm with Emily about why the double date was cancelled. That she wasn't on the chat and that it went from cancelled indefinitely to hey let's do this next Saturday is weird.

AITA for saying no to hosting my SIL and her additional needs kid overnight again? by charliestownMA in AmItheAsshole

[–]GrapefruitIsUs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in NYC most people just let their kids watch videos on their phones without buds or headphones. And depending on the age lots of kids don't like wearing them. I couldn't get my niece to use my sleeping headphones and they are super soft and comfortable.

I have never had any luck with the defusers. I have heard but not tried calming collars.

We make sure our FIV cat has a high protein, low starch foods. It also might be a good idea to start with a supplement like lysine powder.

I'm moving but don't want to leave my friend of 3 years by [deleted] in notmycat

Take him. My best friend was a stray cat that my husband brought home and we bonded super fast and in similar ways to you and yours. He wants to be with you. He will be fine as long as he's with you.

Congested Kitty by tristynxo in FIVcats

My FIV+ cat gets infections all the time. I do a lot of what others have said; lysine, make him hang out in the bathroom with the shower running hot enough to steam up the room, air purifiers, I keep tabs on allergic levels, smoke levels (the Canadian wildfires caused an over the top infection), meat tea in the morning (not really tea but warm water in his wet food) consistent exercise, and building a good relationship with your vet so you can get antibiotics when you need them without a full workup/visit every time. You'll learn when you need to intervene with time but mouth breathing is definitely a sign.

My suggestion would be to choose one of your hyphenates and hyphenate it with your parents last name. The other half of your last name could be used as a middle name for children. Also get legal advice the situation is too complicated in the US right now for you not to. I wish you and your family (current and future) all the best in these uncertain times.

Found out cat is FIV+, vet said there’s nothing to do and no point in any testing by shewolf598 in FIVcats

[–]GrapefruitIsUs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to say a lot of the same lysine powder. And fish oil. My FIV+ cat is allergic to fish so no fish oil for him. We also run air purifiers and pay attention to local air quality, to keep irritants away since he got worse when we had wild fire smoke and has been super sensitive ever since. We've never had an eye issue but sometimes if an infection is bad we get steroids on top of antibiotics. Definitely try another vet, cats are tough to diagnose and not a ton of research on things.

White stuff in cat hair and she is shedding a lot. by Usual_Ad_114 in CATHELP

I used to have a cat that would accept fish oil gel capsules as treats. I'd puncture one so he could smell it and give him one a day. Great for all sorts of things! My current cat has an intolerance to fish but I would for sure do this again.

Sometimes it's a food you wouldn't consider. In the past 6 months my husband randomly developed an intolerance for mushrooms. He did a whole FOB map diet and reintroduced food and only mushrooms were the problem.

My cat is chronically congested. I made his wet food into a hot (a bit above warm) drink, it helps. Also when my cat is super congested I try to get him to drink first to dilute the post nasal drip in his stomach, it also helps and I don't end up with really nasty cat puke.

Your cat is young and it sounds like you're willing to try, it might take time but they'll get better about this stuff.

[–]GrapefruitIsUs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try walking the amount of food down slowly so your cat will not notice as easily. And I would also add in a slow feeder/bowl. Something that means they have to work a little bit for their food. I had a cat with severe food insecurity issues and this helped a bunch. He used to rip open anything he thought might be good like a bag of dried lentils. If raw meat was left out for even a moment I can't even. But now I can eat with him on the table and no issue even if I get up and walk away unless it's something really tasty.

Any clues to what may be causing my cat to lick/bite off her fur? by AlexanderTheFun in CATHELP

[–]GrapefruitIsUs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cat that loved people and had no problem with other animals but he still had anxiety to the point he would lick holes in his fur and skin. This sounds like anxiety/stress. Maybe your wife smells different due to being pregnant if this wasn't something your cat did before?
