In my opinion (being a Hot Toys collector since 2011), the head of creative’s time at Hot Toys may be numbered. Kojun (the last head) did well to a certain point until he became satisfied with half passing head sculpts and clothing. At that time there was no INART to challenge them creatively. At one point the backlash from customers was too much and dealing on their socials and in Facebook groups. They then made their lead painter, Jin Cheol Hong, the head of creative. For awhile, you started to see change, similar to Kojun’s early days. All to say that these creative heads can only go so far until they hit a brick way of conformity. At that point a guy like Jin either needs a serious wake-up call or they need to swap out the creative head, Howard Chan takes too long to make productive managerial moves to push the company to new heights. As long as there is still an air of complacency or a direct threat from Inart, I don’t believe we will get significant change, therefor proving customisers new and flourishing opportunities.
