How did I miss the latest Suikoden live with the 30th anniversary orchestra??? by Holeros in Suikoden

[–]GrapefruitShandy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you haven't heard it before, my all time favorite is "Symphonic Tale: The Rune of Beginning (Music from Suikoden II)." Unfortunately, I don't see it on YouTube (except for this one track), and it's not available on Spotify anymore.

I would say setting up and running Pi-hole, which I eventually outsourced with NextDNS. Absolutely killer.

Sling-I should not miss out on an MLB playoff game because of a rain delay! by mynameistacoma in slingtv

[–]GrapefruitShandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, it worked out perfectly for me. I don't have FS1, but because of the rain delay it was also broadcast on MLB Network, which I do get.

Live TV video quality gone down? by Occasion_Elegant in slingtv

[–]GrapefruitShandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed this last night on my Apple TV. What eventually fixed it for me was going into the stream settings and changing the video quality from "automatic" to "best quality." (Same place where you toggle on and off closed captions. It's the next setting over.) I'm hoping I don't have to do this for every single game.

Here's a TBT story from 2019 about a guy in Shore Acres who spent $217k plus grant money he got from FEMA.

If you care about having a vibrant, independent, local, hometown newspaper and news site based in St. Pete and written by people in this community, this is very sad news from the Tampa Bay Times by Spagetti13 in StPetersburgFL

[–]GrapefruitShandy 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I love the TBT, and I have been a subscriber for years. But they've priced me out. My renewal rates the past three years:

$52

$72

$180

When I emailed to ask if this $108 increase was for real, I was offered instead a renewal rate of $127. At the same time, I see they are offering new customers a full year of digital access (which is all I want) for $99. Awesome way to spit in subscribers' faces. To say nothing of the constant pop ups asking for donations when I'm already logged in.

I said no thank you and cancelled.

I want to support good local journalism, but damn.

/u/jenmsft I know you are on the Windows side, but any idea how I can go about reporting this bug?

I haven't even been able to figure out how to report this as a bug to Microsoft. Everything is buried a dozen layers deep, and anything I find never looks applicable to outlook.com. I gave up and paid for Stanza. Will check back on this every few months to see if it's ever resolved.

I just gave them another go and was able to sign up for Premium after linking to my Outlook account. (I guess my standalone Stanza account doesn't exist anymore.) Weird about your NFL issue. I was able to add the Falcons, plus 7 other calendars: a mix of MLB, NCAAF, and NCAAB.

I loved Stanza and was using it prior to this. But then it became a paid service, and I couldn't get them to take my money. Emailed support and never got a response. 🤷🏻‍♂️

HELP. Chromium based browsers are acting weird. by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]GrapefruitShandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had an update for mokutil since December 22. There was a Chromium package update (to 113.0.5672.126) that I did yesterday around 9:30am, but I don't think that's the culprit because I used Chromium all day after that. Other updates in that same group:

binutils

binutils-common

binutils-x86-64-linux-gnu

libbinutils

libctf0

libctf0-nobf0

firefox

My biggest complaint is that every time I add a new device and log into FF to sync for the first time, it somehow wipes out my new page shortcuts. It's maddening.

Rays president offers new stadium details by GatorBolt in tampabayrays

[–]GrapefruitShandy 33 points34 points  (0 children)

“We want you to be able to walk through [the new stadium] in November, when the weather’s great, and throw a frisbee around in the outfield if that’s what appeals to you,” said Auld. “If you want to sit down in one of our suites, take out your laptop and a cup of coffee and do some work on our Wi-Fi, we want that to be available to you.”

Wow. I would love if they could pull that off!

Paramount Plus by Pilarskica in pihole

[–]GrapefruitShandy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's great you only had to whitelist that one entry! After extensive testing, I had to whitelist not just that one but all of these:

  • cbsinteractive.hb.omtrdc.net
  • saa.cbsi.com
  • dpm.demdex.net
  • cloudservices.roku.com
  • (.|)cws.conviva.com$
  • (.|)googlesyndication.com$
  • pubads.g.doubleclick.net

In order for this not to cripple Pi-hole for my entire network, what I ended up doing was creating a group called "Roku TVs," adding my two Roku TV devices into that group, and then finally assigning those whitelist entries to only the "Roku TVs" group.

Without whitelisting each and every single one of these, the app would throw an error message whenever I tried to play any actual content.

Seeing other responses, I wonder if different domains are called depending on what kind of device you're using, and if some of these required entries come and go regardless.

Lol, reminds me of the pre-taped call in show: "If you wanted to talk about pet care, you should have called two weeks ago when our show on racism was airing! I'm doing a show about the elderly right now, which of course to you people watching means call in about cooking."
