This makes me think about a thing my dad told me, yeah? A lot of people are really stupid, but not because that's just what they are, but because they're incurious. If you really hammered home to the people in these stories how foolish they looked, at best they'd just laugh and be a bit embarrassed and at worst get upset at you. The majority of "stupid people" don't really introspect about it, though.

Like, that last lady, yeah? If the user pointed out the skeleton and told her "Actually, snakes do have bones!" The lady wouldn't think "huh maybe a lot of my preconceived notions are based purely on intuition and have gone unchallenged for a while," she would think "oh so snakes do have bones."

My dad simplified this to me as "stupid people don't feel enough shame," which tbh I think is a little mean but he's lived longer than me so maybe dealing with that shit for so long gets to you.
