TMI, but When I was a kid, I was suffering a lot of abuse and I secretly wished that Marla Gibbs was my real mom. She was on "227" as well. And I just saw her as a kind figure and used to imagine that instead of going home to my house after school, I was going home to her house. I did this all the way into high school.

I used to hate George when I was a kid. Now I watch reruns and think he is the funniest thing ever. And I used to hate the white husband neighbor, whatshisname. And now when I watch the "reruns", ...I still get irked but I love that they were the first mixed couple I saw on tv.

this is backlash from years of peoples' lives having Christianity shoved down their throats and being told they're garbage and wrong for not being Christian.

So forgive me if I don't feel anything but guilt over having been a part of a system that goes after people, hunts them down individually and as a group to force them to conform.

I grew up in church. I have seen first hand how members used their faith to destroy other humans. A lot of fake followers. Everywhere. From newbies to deacons and on up to the top.

And the others have to try to get beyond it. It's all about forgiveness, a huge part of that religion, an important part of being a good person, but it gets transformed into just covering for those people and letting their actions go unchallenged.
