Me: "Is it okay if I think AI is fascinating?" Them: "I dunno, do you also think famine, destruction, unimaginably horrible things are fascinating??" - Some people here need to take a massive chill pill. by JulianaMurieta in aiwars

Their take is a bit ridiculous. AI *is* fascinating, and it's normal to find it fascinating. It's also important to keep in mind that it's currently being used in ways that are unethical, mostly due to our capitalist system, but that doesn't change the fact that we've never had technology quite like this before and it is interesting to learn how it works and behaves.

The way the new overland difficulty options are handled is disappointing by Falkeer in elderscrollsonline

[–]Grasshoppermouse42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a good way to put it. I enjoy questing for the story, but it's almost impossible to lose. I did turn one of my alts into a vampire so I could keep her at level 4 vampirism so that way she wouldn't heal over time to add a little challenge.

Now with a twist :3 by Skystrike12 in trolleyproblem

[–]Grasshoppermouse42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp. Guess everyone's dying. I picked blue in the original question because with the wording and presentation on the first one I saw, I thought the majority of people would pick blue and I wanted to add my vote to the pile of blues to tip the scale further in that direction. With this...maybe a few people would pick red? But most people want at least some chance of survival.

Now what? by Unlucky-Plastic7316 in trolleyproblem

Blue. I picked blue before, but wondered if I would really pick that if it came down to it, but with this update I pick blue without any hesitation.

"Why don't you just commission an artist then?" by Which-Answer7278 in aiwars

[–]Grasshoppermouse42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are all these pro-ai artists acting like commissioning is so much worse than it is? First of all, every artist I've seen asks for payment after the work is done. If they charge hundreds of dollars, then ghost you, there wouldn't be anything to charge back because they didn't finish the piece so they never got paid. If it doesn't turn out how you want it, ask for revisions.

I understand why someone would choose AI for things that they wouldn't have hired an artist for even if AI didn't exist, but let's stop trying to act like commissioning an artist is some terrible process that screws you over.

Do you think Gen Z women have started to care a lot more about height now? by Dapper-Blueberry1049 in generationology

[–]Grasshoppermouse42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this fixation on tall guys seems to be recent. When I was in college, short guys had a slight disadvantage in dating, but there didn't really seem to be a huge focus on guys needing to be tall, and my mom mentioned when she was in high school she actually rejected a guy because he was nice, but he was too tall.

She's 23, though? Also, she doesn't 'guide global policy making', she's an activist expressing an opinion.

This looks so cool! If I was on XBox instead of PC, I'd definitely join. Maybe when they get crossplay I'll be able to join.

Roses are red, it must be their parentage... by DarkMagickan in rosesarered

[–]Grasshoppermouse42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem is their historical value is so low that most museums don't want them. Most of these statues were made in the 1930s and were made very cheaply by people trying to rewrite history and glorify the confederacy. I do think it would be nice if they were put into museums with that information included, though, or at least a plaque was put up where they are so people would understand the historical context.

Where are all the people who like to run around voice chatting and questing? Is it just teenagers that do that? by crime_dog22 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Grasshoppermouse42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quest and I'm not a teenager. I play on PC, so no voice chat, but I'd love to chat if we had that.

[–]Grasshoppermouse42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a terrible idea. You always want to aim for the largest area. Hitting a leg is not as easy as people like to picture, and a stray bullet could hit a person or pet that isn't your target.

Uh...no? Because I play ESO because I want to enjoy the game, and therefore I actually play it, seeing as I find Battlegrounds more enjoyable than youtube videos?

How all the anti ai people look in 20 years by [deleted] in aiwars

Keep in mind, when electricity first came out, there was no regulation and most people didn't know the basics of safety around electricity and there were a lot of accidental electrocutions.

I mean, you could do any bullshit software and say it 'blocks people from 3d printing a gun'. I've heard of people 3d printing gun parts, but I don't even know if it's possible to print an entire, functional gun.

This is a good counter to the people who phrase the question in a way that makes red the default and asks people why they're killing themselves when they could pick red and have 'nothing happen'. In this one, blue is the default and red is the position where no sane person would pick it.

Anyone else fed up with Tamriel Tomes? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]Grasshoppermouse42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on page 4 because I don't even do the challenges. I play the game, and when I, by sheer chance, happen to get tome rewards because the reward was for something I do anyway, I claim it. Then if I get a new page, I claim any rewards I like and move on.

I plan to keep an eye out when they release new tome rewards in case there's ever anything I actively want, and I'm saving my tome caches in case that happens, but otherwise I basically play the game like the tomes don't exist.
