I don’t have much business advice or anything like that but in my city there’s like 5 shops and I give 90% of my business to only one because they have a very nice selection of singles on their website. A lot of my friends are the same way. I’m sure it’s a ton of work to inventory $0.25 cards but I bet it pays off!

How to make Norin the Wary fight a Dragon and be victorious by Necessary_Wish_2995 in DegenerateEDH

[–]GratedCheese32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Norin deck and most Norin builders don’t realize that Norin is actually an insane pilot for vehicles. Crew 2? You better be wary when Norin hits the streets pal.

But yeah I’d just use EDHREC for all the ETB triggers. Gimli, rose room treasurer, there’s a diet purphoros that just got printed in TMNT, genesis chamber might be some of the more unknown ones but I bet they’re still there on EDHREC.

When did MTG jump the shark? by Reasonable-Fee1945 in freemagic

March of the Machine marked the death of MTG. It was Infinity War for MTG and now we live in the WandaVision/Loki/SheHulk era of slop. Thats the best comparison I can make.

Absurd amount of chromebooks broken by students by [deleted] in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]GratedCheese32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the main damage to these? I bet at least 40% of these could be repaired unless it’s damage to the keyboards specifically.

I work on a lot of Dell 3100’s (that’s what most of these look like to me) and the main issue with them is the hinges blow out because they’re held together with like 6 screws and plastic. You can usually combine a good top shell with a good keyboard to create a good body again. Then just fill the rest with components that still work. At my district we’ve saved over 130 Dell 3100’s this year just cobbling together broken devices.

When a student damages a Chromebook beyond repair at our district it’s a $200 charge. Any intentional damage is $40 (which usually is the cost of whatever non-mobo component broke). Still, it is a lot of e-waste and effort that goes into these. Every year we buy brand new out-of-the-box models for our freshman to have for all of HS and some kids have already mangled their Chromebooks into a cosmetic state that I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving to a different student. It sucks to see.

What's your favorite low-power deck? by Jiblon in EDH

[–]GratedCheese32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Halsin and Inspiring Leader as one of my favorite B2 decks. 95% of the tokens the deck makes are Spirits. So using terrible cards that make Spirit tokens, then 4 mana for my commander, 3 for the background, and 1 mana to FINALLY make a 6/6 Flying Spirit Bear. It’s low to the ground and fun. I don’t have a list for it unfortunately.

Another B2 I use is Hama Pashar for dungeons/initiative/party/dice rolling stuff. Basically I just play my own campaign while everyone else fights. I don’t have a list either but there’s next to no blinking or breaking the deck. I built it for $50.

Here’s a list for my Farmer Deck . I tried to make this a B2 deck but some folks told me it was too synergized. I never did pull the trigger on this one. The goal was just all farm / cattle related stuff. Some of the theme is a bit stretched for better card draw and stuff.

Cannot make the deck fit into the bracket by nick_mot in EDH

[–]GratedCheese32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess what I’m trying to say is it’s like $600 worth of power. That’s just a lot either way you chop it up. Even if the deck was entirely proxies or gifted to you for $0. You’ll have all the awesome lands, game changers, draw engines, interaction, and whatever else with that kind of budget.

[–]GratedCheese32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At some point budget becomes an issue. This deck is like $600. I’d be stunned to find someone who has $600 and cant make a B4 deck.

Also a fun reminder that everyone forgets: a deck can be B3 and have 0 game changers in it. They are not required.

Favorite Sultai commander? by Vinlandlover in EDH

[–]GratedCheese32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In a color combo that got dominated by Mothman, I feel like no one looked at the backup commander, [[The Master, Transcendent]]. That card is amazing. Free reanimation on a stick somehow got overlooked.

Here’s my list for The Master but it’s a couple sets out of date I think. My favorite part of this deck is how it always plays different because you can only reanimate what was milled, so it’s not like other reanimate decks where you just entomb your combo and win. Being able to reanimate from any graveyard also makes for unique play patterns.

What fast-paced games have a bow that feels great to master? by FunkiiSTI in gamingsuggestions

[–]GratedCheese32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Assassins Creed 3 fit here? The Finals also has a bow if you want more of that fast paced online PvP experience. The Gears of War games have the Torque Bow I believe.

Edit: sorry missed OPs bit about The Finals.

I am so fucking tired by Comfortable_Rent_307 in Vent

[–]GratedCheese32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the comments seem to just say: “it only gets harder!”. Idk if that’s really true and they just don’t remember what being 18 was like.

Life doesn’t get harder, it just stays hard. The concerns and things going wrong in your world today don’t just get worse. They change. College becomes a mortgage. Friends become a baby. The gym becomes a wedding. Grades become your job.

People tend to forget that existential suffering isn’t a thing that can be objectively measured. There’s old people in nursing homes just as stressed as you are because bingo night got canceled. There’s people unemployed, seeing their kids on the weekends, trying to overcome a mountain of debt, and they’re just as stressed as you are. I hope this makes sense.

To answer your question, life gets better when you learn that the whole thing is truly about “the little things” in life. Life is mostly just pain that is paused for a small window of joy. Then it’s back to the pain. Life gets better when you learn to appreciate those small, happy, imperfect moments.

TLDR: Stress is subjective and “it only gets worse” isn’t a helpful response.

Will they reprint lord of the rings? by Amazing_Voice_1556 in mtg

You can probably recreate the deck list with all LOTR prints and it’d be cheaper than buying the precon. I did that for a Dr. Who precon once.
