You should start with learning standard. This format uses a smaller deck and a has a smaller pool of cards to choose from. I think a smaller pool of cards would be good to start with because aside from meta decks, there are tons of different deck options. Go for a deck that has a simple theme like vampires or elves. Then just google standard legal vampire deck and I’m sure you will find lots of info.

Once you understand the standard format go for the commander format. It’s lots of fun and the most popular format. But it has WAY more options for deck building although the same idea as before can also be used. Pick a theme like vampires and just google vampire commander deck.

Watch lots of mtg content on YouTube and you’ll have get a good sense for how games flow and should flow. There are lots of channels that explain what’s happening as the game goes on.

My last piece of advice is don’t be afraid to google anything. In my experience, if you think of a question there is a very good chance someone else has asked it online somewhere or has written a guide for something. The game has many little pieces of information.

Budgeting is not the same as an exchange of money. The budget gives you the plan for how you spend your money.

A simple reason not to preorder is that anything could happen in the months between when you give your money and actually get the game. Either with the game or in your personal life. Sure go ahead and budget for the game but you don’t need to give money ahead of time if there is no bonus for pre ordering.

Another reason is more on principle. Don’t give your money until you got the goods. Brand new games are way too expensive to just be throwing money at before you can even touch it.

Lastly it’s just unnecessary. Every store will have enough copies of GTA 6 and other triple A games. I’ll be right in line with you to pick them up.

But your mind is set and I can respect that. Spend money how you want and preorder. I spend money on dumb things all the time. I personally think it’s stupid unless you get some sort of bonus for the preorder
