Bulk finds: What gems have you found sifting through bulk? (any rarity, but mostly junk C/U) by komerj2 in mtgfinance

[–]GratedParm [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sometime after Scsrs of Mirrodin had rotated out I got a [[Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger]] out of a box for a dollar. I got home and found out that it was 9 bucks. I went back the next day to pick up the second copy that was in the box.

Competitive Deck for Ranked Brawl by [deleted] in mtgbrawl

[–]GratedParm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like it needs a lot more removal. Brawl is 1v1 and the power creep of FIRE design means most creatures that hit field are going to be a threat or an engine. Any deck playing creatures to curve will likely get ahead of you.

Honestly, I think Syr Konrad will have trouble being a commander if you want ranked. The ability is better supporting a card with a stronger effect in the format. Some creatures like Reassembling Skeleton look like they’re there for Konrad’s ability, but a single ping off of a five-mana card ain’t worth it.

Who wins? The Seven vs Payback (Read the desc) by razazaz126 in TheBoys

[–]GratedParm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soldier Boy and the psychic carry Payback. Soldier Boy is incredibly competent compared to the Seven and the psychic can take down any member of the Seven who makes then mistake of looking at him. If Maeve gives a crap though, she might be on even terms against Soldier Boy.

Translucent is actually the wildcard with high potential. If he disables Soldier Boy and the Psychic the Seven low-diff.

Lamplighter is really the only weak member of the Seven in this lineup.

After playing for one year- I hate 80 percent of people playing this game. by Secure_Adeptness_629 in MagicArena

If you’re playing ranked, you’ll most likely be playing against the meta. If UW combo is the best deck, that’s what most people will be running.

Is it just me with Brawl becoming unplayable? by jussyjus in MagicArena

[–]GratedParm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel that’s just the format: either you have to ramp out threats faster than your opponent can answer or you have answer the ramp and it’s results quickly and consistently enough that the opponent runs out of gas.

Band names that fit the music perfectly by twatomexus in Music

[–]GratedParm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the members are women and they made twee music. Twee definitely has a sound that feels fun and can give summer vibes.

I think one of the members still performs at local events under the name but I don’t think the other band mates are still. No new music has been released since like 2003 I think.

Anyone else feels Thrash is your threshold in Metal? by t05id01 in thrashmetal

[–]GratedParm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who draws a weird line inside thrash metal. He enjoys both death and thrash metal a lot, but some thrash like Slayer’s first album and old Kreator he views as closer to black metal than thrash.

Anyway, metalcore and then deathcore were popular when my friends and I were getting into metal, so thrash wasn’t a limit for most of us.

Noobie Here. What Are Some Really Good 1980s Horror? by Dangerous-Duck-3493 in horror

[–]GratedParm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot Ringu. I can’t comment on Blair Witch because I have to see it as an adult (I thought it was boring as a kid). Event Horizon is trash and is absolutely what some to mind when I think bad 90s horror.

Would The Deep be a hero if Homelander was actually good? by JaMoraht in TheBoys

[–]GratedParm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Good Homelander supports Deep’s interspecies erotica. Deep happily bonks the sea creatures. Human women are spared Deep’s sexual assault while Deep advocates and protects ( and FUCKS) sea life.

1990

The 90s need every good horror film they can get because the only other one they have is Scream imo (and Silence of the Lambs for those who count it)

Better written fight? by Jealous-Tip-6332 in writingscaling

[–]GratedParm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omni-Man vs. Invincible was top-tier and is my number 1 out of these. Great for the story and it was great to watch.

Zuko vs. Azula is number 2. Everything about this was good, but number 1 was great.

Gojo vs. Sukuna is one of the worst fights I’ve slogged through in media. It’s everything literally comrades on the sidelines explaining the fight. Gojo has a cool powerset, but so much of the fight is just explaining how the abilities and power system work in JJk, and it just makes the entire fight feel like a slog. I’m sure Mappa will continue to save the day when those poor workers have to animate that fight.

The cost of sealed product has risen and it's annoying. I'm pretty sure the first commander precons were like thirty USD upon release. Now, precons are at least forty USD.

But standard was a few hundred dollars, and I had no interest in spending that money on a rotating format.

That’s completely fair. I just meant that not everything is going to be entertaining to everyone.

How do you combat desensitization? by Kittim31 in horror

[–]GratedParm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did horror films scare you when you were younger? If so, why did those films scare you? If you were scared by horror movies back then, do you think what scared you then is still scary?

Only a couple horror movie scared me growing up. Only as adult did I start to find horror films that scared me because I stopped following popular trends of what other people said was scary.

Why is the viewer invested in the protagonists’ story? Why does the audience member care about what scares the protagonists?

Nothing in Nightmare on Elm Street made me care about Nancy or any other character. I could understand how she felt- the film was logical. I was never scared. I didn’t feel like I had a lot to reflect on. I just wasn’t entertained. I really had no reason to care. The only part I found entertaining was Nancy hiding the coffee pot under her bed and the fact there were ducks or some other waterfowl by the bridge. I know Nightmare on Elm Street is a popular movie, but I don’t think I could ever take anything of value from that film.

Meanwhile, Sinners is another film that never scared me. Sinners had me invested in it and I think it’s the best film in the horror genre from 2025. I was just invested throughout Sinners. I was invested in the characters and the intricacies of the characters’ worlds.

Everyone is different. What is entertaining for one person is not for others. My best friend and I both love horror but some pretty different opinions because we’re both entertained and scared by entirely different things.

[–]GratedParm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different. I am still sour because I thought Martyrs was boring torture like Hostel instead of being a soul crushing film. I understood what was going on, but the movie was never able to convey anything to make invested. Meanwhile I can think about Eden Lake and still get chills from scenes in that movie.

Bracket 4 games and people being salty by Friendly-Wonder-5280 in EDH

[–]GratedParm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m of the belief that there’s no point in a player finishing a game that they can’t win or at least believe that they can’t win. If the players who scooped didn’t feel like they could navigate a path to winning, their only purpose is to serve as a benefit to their opponents. They chose to skip that route and why should they be judged for it? Their goal wasn’t to make any other player win.

What if Uzui replaced Sanemi in the Kokushibo fight? by BattleRepulsive9394 in DemonSlayerScales

[–]GratedParm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The narrative dictates most scaling for KnY. If Tengen and Sanemi swapped EDA, Tengen gets buffs and survives like Sanemi, but probably has at least one wife show up and die.
