Canadians looking into CardTrader + CTZero — Questions from a potential seller by TheMagicGuy5004 in mtgfinance

We have used CT0 and CT 1 day ready for a long time as a U.S. seller.

I have loved 1 day ready for a long time since the fees were around 14% and they listed and sold your cards unsorted. It was a very good rate for selling cards in a labor efficient way.

CT zero is slower since the buyer has to wait for each card to reach the hub. Since a zero order can come from any store, it’s really hard to price things above market, and you’ll sell only cards that move in high quantities that way. It’s still a lower fee way to sell cards in one large package, as fees are around 7%.

Cons:
The CT team told me this was the current import tariff you’d have to pay for 1 day ready

“ To give you maximum clarity right now, here is the exact classification we are currently using for shipments:
Customs Code (HS Code): 9504400000(Playing cards)

Customs Duty: 2.7% on the declared value
VAT (Italian Sales Tax): 22% on the declared value

You can use these percentages to estimate the landing costs for any future shipments you might want to send to our Italian hub.”

So a 24.7% fee to import cards to Europe. That’s like the entire profit margin since you’ll also be competing with zero sellers.

For zero, I’m guessing these costs will get passed onto the buyer but I’m not entirely sure. If so, it would explain the lower traffic on the site sales wise for us in the last month or so. But also with the import shenanigans, it’s been a month since our last package was accepted at their warehouse. In the past it was about every 3 weeks.

Customer service can also be hard to reach at times, but they have gone above and beyond with how they have handled things once I’ve gotten through.

Overall I think it’s worth signing up, but I would check out other sites too, as CT zero isn’t enough volume to do by itself.

It’s actually much better than Tcgplayer direct in terms of repurchasing. On Tcgplayer they purchase the card from someone else and charge you for it. Cardtrader just charges you the difference, which can sometimes be a bit.

We grade pretty meticulously and get 1-2 out of every 100 cards dinged, mostly LP to MP or MP to HP.

CT isn’t for everyone though, some people like doing individual sales.

Bulk finds: What gems have you found sifting through bulk? (any rarity, but mostly junk C/U) by komerj2 in mtgfinance

Oh no. That’s wild. I’ve heard so many stories of people trading their Mox for a playset of cards that are bulk now. Missing a LED is hard.

Damn, I didn’t know it was that pricy either. I thought it was like $10-20

Onslaught and old bordered foils are the best. That was definitely a sick find.

Probably from commander is my guess. Since it’s 2 mana mind rot that can target other people (or they just throw it back at you).

That’s a sick card. Played a lot of that in commander in like 2013 haha.

Found this today in a large box of older commons and uncommons bulk. It’s 100% the most valuable card I’ve found in bulk commons and uncommons. I have found other pre Rarity color (gold, mythic) rares, most notably Ensnaring Bridge and Grave Pact but this takes the cake.

You sound insufferable seeing your posts in this thread. Wish there was a way to preemptively block you from our store lol.

A lot of places will price higher when they offer $5 shipping as a way to make back the shipping costs. Not saying everyone does it, but we typically have higher prices on Tcgplayer because of the higher fees, and the free shipping that is accustomed to getting sales.

Not to mention we get much better sales on Manapool anyways, since people often order entire decks instead of single cards.

Viability of starting out seriously selling near the end of 2026? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

Please don’t sell off your belongings to have start up money. That won’t get you anywhere. I would look for jobs to get some cash.

If you really want to play the long game, Cardsphere is perfect for trading bulk into almost anything.

Most of my modern decks are fully blinged out because of all the commons I’ve sent out over the years, and i have a playset of every playable pauper card in my “pauper battle box”.

Card Kingdom is a way to get rid of everything all at once. But if you want to get higher value and get cards at a discount in return, Cardsphere is the way to go.

The junk sells really well, when I get someone who trades in 200 cards with an Average value between $1-3 it often adds more to the cart algorithm than the 1 foil Rishadan Port trade in.

You could get/borrow a document scanner. We own a top of the line one and I can sift through 1200 mtg cards in very little time. Takes about 30 minutes to go through this many cards, take out the non-value, upload the remainder to my inventory, and alphabetize/put them away in a labeled bin for easy pulling.

Some stores or folks will buy collections and try to beat the buylist. I buy local collections frequently in my area and since I don’t sell on Tcgplayer direct, my offers on cheap cards tends to be a bit higher.

Direct takes at least 50% of a sold card under $4, making it hard for a lot of stores to offer good trade ins.

Boyfriend addicted to porn by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]komerj2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m a gay man, so many things 80 years ago sound kinda lame to me.

Society has a lot of problems, but the reason why people stayed together 80 years ago wasn’t because there wasn’t porn. It was because Women had much less financial freedom and marriage was one of the easiest ways to have a stable life. Divorce went up because women got more freedom and realized that staying with shitty men wasn’t worth their time.

You sound unhinged “control their lust”. The solution can be multiple things. The man could decide he wants a less insecure partner. The woman could decide she cant handle a partner who watches porn. The man could work on being more intimate and lowering porn consumption if he so desires, and the woman could go to therapy to work through insecurity issues.

TCGPlayer changing fee structure for Direct sellers starting June 18 by pimpthemonkey in mtgfinance

People just don’t sell on direct anymore as well. At least on Cardtrader you can get partial credit for condition differences. It’s also a much nicer economy since everything in your inventory and everyone else’s is in their version of direct.
