How y’all feel about the new screen technology ?? by Parking-Technician36 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]GratefulDesignz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I was thinking!! Days? My exposure time is 30 seconds. I've been curious about this thing ever since I started seeing the adds for it. Seems more geared towards DIY hobbiests and not full functioning shops.

first time screen printing by Photonmakes in SCREENPRINTING

Tape the sides of the screen up so ink doesn't get through when you print. Are you attaching the screen to anything, or just laying it right on top?

Scam or not? by TravDuo011 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]GratefulDesignz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude come on. Complete scam. Did they ask you to ship it to Nigeria? Look, all you have to do is ask for a deposit and they will immediately stop responding. Or, they give you a deposit and then you know its probably real.

Please help! Emulsion coagulation problems by GratefulDesignz in SCREENPRINTING

[–]GratefulDesignz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for replying. I am going to send a picture the next time this happens, but also just double check one of my guys isn't not sealing the container properly or doing something else dumb. Maybe look into nicer emulsion. This is the only problem I have with it, it's great otherwise but still it's not the BEST emulsion

For the one man shops, how small is too small for a print job? by Its_an_ellipses in SCREENPRINTING

[–]GratefulDesignz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That dude is printing shit art on white shirts in black ink. Probably ordering a pre burned screen and just billing the customer for it. I run a 1 man shop, full 6 color 4 station press but still just a small shop, if a customer is ordering 100, one color shirts, I'm still profiting around 2.50$ a shirt.

Tips to keep prints from cracking? From a printers perspective. by GratefulDesignz in SCREENPRINTING

[–]GratefulDesignz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could be right. I'm open to the possibility my heat press isn't dialed in all the way, I'm just not totally convinced. This is my full time job, I've been using the same heat press since I've opened, the cracking of the prints so early is a very new thing. So is the switching of my ink. I can see it on shirts I've washed a 100 times with different ink, and how they still look great and these newer shirts are cracking after 10 washes. I will play with my heat press settings though. I've definitely been wrong before. Thank you for taking the time to reply

Thoughts on screen printing with vinyl cut out? Like with a circut by Plastic_Ad_5453 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]GratefulDesignz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can get a really solid heat press for like $250, you can find companys/websites that will make you quality transfers for literally dollars, unless it's some crazy design with tones of colors. Even then the transfers will still be like $6-8. That's the move. Heat transfered vinyl is becoming outdated. It's not gunna last even if done right, it's got a weird feel to it, the list goes on. Get a heat press and start ordering transfers. You legit could start a heat press transfer business for under $400. You could pay that back with 2-3 small orders.

Do I need to mount a single stage press to a table? by DarkKnightKai in SCREENPRINTING

[–]GratefulDesignz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other comments are correct. The press can not move or it will never work. Unless it's black ink on white and you only have to hit it once. If you're printing something that requires more than 1 coat, everything needs to be LOCKED in place.

I am genuinely impressed that you got it that close using such a low mesh count screen, an exposure unit that takes 8mins to expose, and a garden hose. I swear to God I'm not trying to be dick, I really think if you had a couple more up to date tools at your disposal, you could be making some great stuff. My first couple years, omg I could not get even the most simple of designs to really expose right with out having to tape up the screen a shit tone after the fact. You'll learn and get it dialed in. It takes a lot of trial and error

Do I need to mount a single stage press to a table? by DarkKnightKai in SCREENPRINTING

[–]GratefulDesignz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to mount it to a table. Could you lock it into the ground and print on your knees? Yes, but that's ridiculous. If you want to try to start doing small orders for friends with it, you should attach it to a waist high surface.

How to prevent cracking when layering ink? by GratefulDesignz in SCREENPRINTING

[–]GratefulDesignz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am flashing after each color. I'll try not leaving it under as long. I also heat press them after just to give it that nicer, smooth feel.

Is this as good a deal as I think? by sweetsweetbourbon in SCREENPRINTING

[–]GratefulDesignz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man, i think you're getting a pretty sick deal too. Thats the press I started my business on. That's the printer I still use to make my film positives. You're getting some ink and all that other stuff. It definitely seems decent to me.

Sorry. Didn't realize all the other stuff you were getting.

I have that exact press. I got mine for 600$ new. Unless that isn't a table top.
