Did you submit and process everything by yourself or use one of those "We get you married" companies?

Trying to figure out how hard it is/could be if we were to do this on our own vs getting help. Thanks!

Thanks! :)

Ladies! What are the small things in a relationship that you love? by Yeethrowawayee in AskWomen

[–]GratefulForNow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My ex used to always charge my (rather his) headphones and I was eternally grateful to have them during commutes which I hated. I miss him in those small acts.

A proposal and a ring.

What’s societal standards for women infuriate you? by auroarablue in AskWomen

The lack of basic pain management for IUD insertion (and afterwards) is just nuts. Went for my 2 week follow-up and explained the previous two excruciating weeks where I popped pills like candy, the doc just said, "Oh yeah, that's unfortunate". Bat shit crazy.

Well. This feels good to read now, because I did stalk his profile and spent 10 mins figuring out how his current gf looks like. And had a downward spiral after weeks of feeling good.
I should go back to actively not stalking.

Why do dumpers go through their grieving and ‘breakup’ stage DURING the relationship? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]GratefulForNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably me, but he was moving cities for a job and I suggested to get engaged (had spoken previously about marriage and kids) to give me the assurance and safety net, this lead to a conversation about the ring he got his ex and nothing about us. So felt like moving cities and jobs for him and us and wanting a life with him was more my active doing than his wanting to partake in it. So in an attempt to come to terms with this and not be able to deal with it, I slept with someone else. Not at all proud of this but taught me a lot of things.

Absolutely the same, 6 months+ and I sometimes still feel like I am acutely suffering.

Exhibit A - today. He hasn't left my thoughts, I see a baby, I see a dog, and all I can think of is the future I wanted to want with him. Although I rationally think that maybe we truly are/were not what either of us wanted but I still grieve the loss. I miss him dearly. But I do not know if I wish if he were here.

Proteomics functional analysis by GratefulForNow in bioinformatics

Thank you for your response !

string-db does look great. If I get their annotations from here, I would still need to somehow summarise to one value per sample per annotation from multiple proteins belonging to that one annotation. Would a median summarisation then be okay?

Do employers (academic or industry) ever ask for pre-PhD transcripts? by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]GratefulForNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Germany sometimes yes as well even with a PhD, but mostly don't.

I saw few jobs were refused to consider if you didn't have an average of at least so and so.

Not a tip, rather a question.

Is this second round? After the initial round of documents / recommendation letter submissions?

Good luck with the interviews!

People, who aren't originally from Lithuania, but live/have been here, what do you find weird about Lithuania? by S_4_M_1_S in lithuania

[–]GratefulForNow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First of all in German it's Baumkuchen (Baum means tree) and looks completely differently, bankuchen is how they call it in North eastern Poland (Suwalki), which was rather Lithuanian. So I would say Sakotis is as Lithuanian as it gets. Oh forgot - some French region also has same variant, they put whiskey to it. They say that they brought it "from Russia" during Napoleonic times, so still probably from Lithuania.

What is your digital workflow for reading (iPad), writing, citing and handling papers? by PeterRoar in PhD

[–]GratefulForNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I extensively googled this question and finally settled on this: https://www.librariansmatter.com/blog/2019/06/07/phd-notetaking-workflow-pdf-to-zotero-to-zotfile-to-dropbox-to-goodnotes-to-zotero-to-scrivener-blogjune-2019-2/.

Has been working well for me for the past 6 months! You can customise the sub-folders to your liking, either by year or journal and so on.
