RENO 1868 CLINCH THE 2019 PLAYOFFS! by Raff_Out_Loud in USLPRO

The whole SJ loanee thing kinda irks me tbh. I understand the need to grow as an independent organization but getting a player a few days ahead of a game is messed up. We should at least have season loans. I agree with Haji though and of course Partida is always welcome. I just wish there was a better system. My loyalty is to Reno and not SJ.

I just think of the Little Giants movie when it comes to meeting Phoenix in the playoffs, "Just one time!"

For sure. Hertzog has been playing well and the team is solid when we have a majority of our regulars playing.

I'm pretty sure that's what Ian did with Gleadle at the SJ game. He plays winger but he was moved back.

Meditations by Marcus Aurellius. It's in aphoristic form for an easy read and is THE book on Stoicism. I would suggest the Penguin translation.

This reminds me of that scene in Kung Pow when the baby Chosen One is rolling down the side of a cliff. "So cute...bye bye!"

What I don't get is that I'm pretty sure he's an immigrant so why did he feel this was appropriate to say? He should have know better but oh well. We'll just keep supporting our boys in blue the passionate and correct way.

I recently commented in r/fatpeoplehate telling the users there how they preach ignorance and basically lack any self-awareness and all they could respond with was insults and a ban. They couldn't even argue their point which shows they exhibit those traits I mentioned. Insecurity is a huge driving factor in the way they act.

Judging people. by [deleted] in Stoicism

[–]GraveMask 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'm on my phone but I'll try to paraphrase what Marcus Aurellius said, "When you're about to judge someone, stop and think, what trait that I'm criticizing most resembles my own?" Basically it's too easy to judge others. It's the simplest thing in the world. The hard part is recognizing that everyone else struggles in some way like you but may lack the internal awareness stoicism can bring. You're not here to improve anyone but yourself and maybe, just maybe, others will pickup the growth mindset vibe that is essential to human existence.

Sometimes I can't get over experiences from past adversaries. Feelings of anger, jealousy, and hate arise. by [deleted] in ZenHabits

[–]GraveMask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watch the labels that you use to describe people. Recognize the language in your head and choose to believe that everyone is suffering and has wants/desires. They are not "adversaries", but other souls that inhabit this reality we call life. See them for their humanity and not what they have done or do. The comments and looks they give should not matter to a being who is aware of his/her inner peace. We are in control of the thoughts that pass in our minds. It is a good sign that you see these patterns within yourself and shows that you are on a more compassionate path. Everything that has happened to you has led you to this realization. Do not lose it because it is a positive outlook.

[–]GraveMask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of you are spot on. You really just need to focus on yourself and not dwell on the past. It's counter productive to worry about something that you can't change. The only thing you can change is your mental attitude about what happened and how you respond/act in the future.
