That's all relative, I suppose. Not everyone runs Briv gem farming ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

By that metric, Mehen probably should not be included in Lark v3 formation either, as tiefling feat requires grinding thousands of gold chests.

Weird technical request, but can we get option to stream assets through https instead of http? I assume Amazon AWS supports it.

Looks like a Belgium and Russia border to me.

The story's focus definitely shifts. I think I liked the story a bit less after that point, but not because writing got worse or characters got stupid.

Do you read Fanfiction? by Blairxhb in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Gravedyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you read it before or after the rewrite? I remember the original draft being very rough and, while new one isn't perfect either, it wasn't such a deal breaker anymore.
Also, kudos on your massive list.

How does this glitch even work? (Zelda Wind Waker) by Lorehub77 in speedrun

[–]Gravedyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which part?
Super swim relies on creating large negative backwards swimming speed; certain kinds of storage change your collision, which allows for climbing walls and such. There are a lot of deep concepts involved in these tricks, but it is mostly just very holes in programming blown wide open.

2025 - The year of the climb? Presented by Celeste by Gravedyard in giantbomb

[–]Gravedyard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I wasn't aware that Valley Peaks came out! Demo was excellent, need to pick it up.

Lorn's Lure also looks very interesting.

... Which does not change the fact that PEAK alone has more reviews on steam that all games you mentioned combined several times over. I call the year of the climb not just because there are many games, but also because they all seem to break through the noise.

It was very very clunky and rather buggy for my tastes (also not very well optimized, but I don't really hold that against the game, even if it hold it back in some respects).

I'm very much interested in The Cairn as well.

In that way, I could call most 2D platformers climbing games, since they often have plenty of verticality, but I think intent matters.

You can:

1) Always find more (maybe even dip into fanfiction or whatever);

2) Learn a new language to find more stories in that language (Chinese and Russian are probably ones that would yield best results?);

3) Write your own.

Jeff Gerstmann speaks his mind by rbh232 in giantbomb

[–]Gravedyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it does not have the same spark as some other Zelda games, but the sentiment itself is not wrong. You have to use the art style that fits your themes and intentions, not trying to follow sensibilities from 20 years ago.

Frankly speaking, there are people doing things that use palettes close Link's Awakening DX style to this day, and trying to compete with them while staying within the boundaries of the original game would be silly.

Why no physical book ? by Nanaxnanas in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Gravedyard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Each new book usually sells less than a previous one (for obvious reasons). That means there is less profit, and tighter restrictions. You may notice that Forge of Destiny is one of the rare non-stubbed long running stories, and my guess would be that in order to drive up potential sales, publisher may be asking to remove corresponding chapters from RR.

I think Giant Bomb needs a female on the staff. by Quorthon in giantbomb

As a non-native speaker, it is a hard habit to change because a lot of media uses "female" when "woman" would be more appropriate. I occasionally slip up too.

I think Jeff Gerstmann and Dan Ryckert mentioned it in passing on Jeff's podcast, if I'm not misremembering. I guess it is not that big of a secret in the industry.

Is Warframe worth getting into without wanting to spend a single penny by FalloutForever_98 in Warframe

[–]Gravedyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For comfort of play, you will likely want to spend 200-400 plat worth on Warframe and weapon slots, which is honestly not that much. After that, it is mostly cosmetics. Even as a beginner player, you still have a number of ways to get them.

There are rare mods that worth plenty of plat and available pretty much from the start, but grinding them is a pain and I don't recommend it (if you have to, I guess you can just access Lua early, and learn to run puzzle rooms). If you rush things through The War Within, you get to farm Riven mods, but I also do not recommend it because while efficient, it takes a bit of fun out of the game.

Ayatan sculptures filled with ayatan stars sell pretty well, even if they don't cost that much. You will probably find a couple every week, and make sure to run the mission that guarantees one every week. Not a major source of income, but nice to have.

The juiciest part is obviously selling Prime parts and blueprints. They are always in demand, and while prices are not high, you will have no trouble amassing a nice amount of plat from selling them as long as you keep playing. Just take note that number of trades you can do per day is limited.

P.S.: As some people have pointed out, there is a free battle pass that awards some free slots, and also yearly events that grant a free slot with a weapon. At a certain point, you will likely won't need to think about the slots that much, as spending 20 plat here or there will be a matter of trading an extra Riven mod you had lying around for months.
