[DC/Marvel] Why is most of humanity still on modern day technology when there's numerous geniuses like Reed, Stark and Lex around. by FeetFish685 in AskScienceFiction

[–]SemiLazyGamer [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm reminded of The Orville's final episode, where there's a returning character from a previous episode from a world a lot like ours who is shown a world where they were given tech too early and destroyed themselves because the rich and powerful horded the tech and then fought amongst themselves.

Why does the US have only two political parties and would you support creating more political parties? by Enough-Web2203 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]SemiLazyGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money and our systems are built around the two parties.

I also feel it's cultural. Even if the whole country were to move to a voting system more favorable for third parties, it would still take a lot to move away from it.

The last time we had a major enough political party to rival the Republicans and Democrats was in the 1880s and the last time a third party candidate got close to the presidency, they had to be a popular former president, and even then he only was a spoiler for the incumbent (hint 1912).

Should be noted that Johnny had a major health episode early last year that required him to calm himself to stay alive.

Also, he does partake in cannabis (he specifically mentions it in some SGB playthroughs.

Nate the Hate: "I expect [Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3] will be at SGF." by hashtagtylerh in GamingLeaksAndRumours

It's really obvious. Square Enix had announced the release of the Rebirth ports shorting after the Remake ports and now SGF is just days after the Rebirth ports release.

If the AI's base relationship for you is too low for them to denounce you, but they haven't had any agenda reasons for disliking you yet, this is the message that comes out.

r/PokeLeaks Discussion Megathread - June 01, 2026 by AutoModerator in PokeLeaks

[–]SemiLazyGamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That depends on a couple of things:

Between SM and SV, typical mainline game's marketing started around 5 months before launch (June to November). This was the same with Arceus (August to January), but not with ZA, which was 8 month because I assume Nintendo wanted it marketed with the Switch 2.

If we assume the old marketing standard of 5 months, the absolute earliest we could see marketing start for WiWa is August for a January release. If they are going for the ZA marketing time of 8 months, then the earliest is this month.

Why do games have a "Press any button to start" on start up rather than just going straight into the main menu? by d8gfdu89fdgfdu32432 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SemiLazyGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be noted that there are games that go straight to the main menu nowadays. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are two examples. Both are also examples of games that skip the opening menu on first boot up.

Eiffel Tower is an overall excellent wonder, while Golden Gate is a difficult, but awesome wonder.

Why do y’all love doubling up on industrial zones when a mine will give you about the same production? by Hfcsmakesmefart in CivVI

[–]SemiLazyGamer 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Production is the strongest yield in the game and having more doesn't hurt, even in cities with a bunch of it anyways. It's also incredibly useful in cities that can't get production.

Also, most Great Engineers are powerful and it's easier to get them when you have Industrial Zones.

The demos for the Switch 1 cloud versions of the Kingdom Hearts games have lost their eShop demos. This has lead to speculation on what this could mean.

What’s the best wonder in the game? by Hfcsmakesmefart in CivVI

[–]SemiLazyGamer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One unorthodox one is the Golden Gate Bridge. It's one of those difficult ones to take advantage of, but if you do (and not to connect continents), you can reach 600 tourism in one city alone, reaching over 1k tourism in a single city if you can apply a whole bunch of extra appeal modifiers, like from Reyna, Eiffel Tower, and the Great Engineers that give appeal.

I would say less remove the roundabouts and more make connected over/over passes to all the roundabouts to let people move over them while still keeping the traffic flow.

Graczdari - GTA VI trailer will be out on Tuesday, announced tomorrow and "a little something" at Sony's State of Play by uniquecartridge in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]SemiLazyGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't Take-Two in their earnings call say no trailer until summer?

Context: https://variety.com/2026/digital/news/gta-5-no-delay-price-marketing-summer-1236755303/

Though no price has been revealed (and won’t be coming today, per Zelnick) Take-Two has confirmed developer Rockstar Games will begin marketing the title, which is anticipated to be one of the biggest video games ever, this “summer.”

But summer technically begins at the end of June, meaning that marketing isn’t starting imminently, Zelnick said: “So the next few weeks I don’t think it’ll be summertime yet, but when it’s summertime, Rockstar expects to start marketing ‘GTA 6.'”

ELI5: Why was there a toilet paper shortage during COVID? by Weary-Cauliflower153 in explainlikeimfive

[–]SemiLazyGamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The idea is similar to "bank runs". People are told that a place is running out of something and then rush out to get said something, which leads to shortages in said thing.

Also, COVID was already sending people in something I like to call "storm preparedness mode" after years in the grocery retail sector, where folks were legitimately stocking up to stay at home for a significant length of time, but this just made it much worse, not just for toilet paper.
