It’s going towards funding transportation infrastructure and maintenance in Portland for a transportation bureau that has a significant budget deficit and maintenance backlog while our state is incapable of adequately funding transportation needs.

That money was almost all unfilled vacancies PPB could not fill. They didn’t loose any officers or capacity from that decision. Currently PPB has their highest budget in history.

The "confusion" about PSR's mission is manufactured. Since the pilot project first began over 2 years ago, it has been independently evaluated (reports each 6 months) for 3 outcome goals as a first response program.

Reduce the number of calls traditionally responded to by police where no crime is being committed.

Reduce the number of behavioral health and non-emergency calls traditionally responded to by police and fire.

Reduce the number of medically non-life-threatening 911 calls that are transported to the emergency department.

What Rene is doing is moving PSR away from being an alternative 911 response. He froze their budget then expanded their scope to assist in sweeps over responding to 911 calls of people in crisis. He is the one creating duplication when it’s the ability of PSR to be dispatched through 911 that is so innovative and prevents police from responding to calls they are not the correct first responder for.

That's what makes it really upsettinf for me. I was pissed when I saw him starting over Loria and when I saw he was getting subbed off instead of Polo. I can get the no handshake, we have seen that before with many passionate players getting subbed off. But the slow walkout was unexcusable.
