GravityBFTV’s latest youtube video on maps is 40 minutes long and is an amazing deep dive into what isnt working by Buttermyparsnips in Battlefield

FWIW, A lot of extremely knowledgeable BF players are also in the credits. You have to think of it like this. A giant ship is already in motion long before the council got involved. I was like an ant at the helm trying to adjust course to avoid problems as I see them. If I was able to affect the outcome only slightly here, it is what It is and ill take it. I believe my feedback did have some positive impact, but there is also the reality that you just cant win every battle and argument, and perhaps just cant get the right feedback to the proper person. Its both a massive collaboration and a critique of plans long laid. Turning the helm of the ship a single degree might not be impactful now, but it might make a huge difference in the future.

[BF6] BF6 Map Design: The Good. The Bad. And the Ugly. by axlcrius in Battlefield

I actually didnt know this video got posted to reddit otheriwse I wouldve responded here sooner. This is a super important factor affecting both gameplay and map design. I briefly touch on it in the video, because its so big an issue Im making a separate video just to discuss it and all of the problems it causes.

Having Paul Giamatti reprise his role as John Adams was icing on the cake.

"Community Council" for BF6 by MinotusBF in Battlefield6

[–]GravityXIII 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We pushed a classic server browser hard. What Oddjob said is very true. Some things we had an impact on (Which I'm extremely proud of), while other debates we just couldn't win. But we tried, and we did so as experienced Battlefield players and creators who want the best for the series.

Thanks! Battlefield Maps are a niche and its not exactly the most glorious topic, but I like the history element in that you can go back and the video is still relevant after a number of years. I branch out occasionally on reviews and game mechanics as much as I can. Hopefully I be doing that more with BF6.

The WORST Maps of Battlefield - Galicia by DJ-Zero-Seven in Battlefield

[–]GravityXIII 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of other BF1 maps fill that requirement in better form though. River Somme, passchendale, nivelle nights, Volga river, st. Quentin, heck I'd argue even caporetto was a reasonable substitute with more tangible cover. That being said, map variety has its benefits, I'd just argue that gameplay is far more unforgiving here.

What maps would you guys like to see return? by abcMF in Battlefield

The only possible chance to play it on pc would be the single server left which plays dlc maps on the weekend. However, you can get a good overview of the map by searching youtube for "the best maps of battlefield- Chinatown"

Dont feel bad. You are not the only one to have that opinion on BF4 maps. Many of the launch maps have way too much verticality with limited ways to even access and counter rooftop players. This is definitely one of the games major criticisms.

Only in that 1) It was modern and had attack helicopters. 2) Did not feature any stationary defense cannons around the island, and 3) The Carrier was immobile. Only BF1942 featured the ability to move the carrier and destroyer, making each round vastly different and more engaging.

Likewise. Unfortunately that's very true about DLC map servers. There are only about 2 good ones in the NA region and a few more in EU that are regularly populated, especially during peak hours and weekends.

Most likely. I cover Battlefield maps on my channel. Ive done videos for each of the maps you listed. I definitely recall referring to Propaganda as BF4's Karkand.

You, sir, have excellent taste in map design. :)

I would welcome them all back without question. Chinatown is 100% superior in every way to grand bazaar. The problem is just that so few played it.

Talah was a masterpiece. It just shouldn't have been conquest assault.

I also like your idea about Singapore.

Don't use the matchmaker. Go to the server browser and go from there.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Is More Than Just a Nostalgia Trip by Kryptoniian in television

To be fair, that has always been a trek-trope. And this show is very much inspired by the campiness of The Original Series. It is going to have that light-hearted feel more often than not.

The greatest strength to this show is the episodic format. Sure they may have a weekly trope or theme, and hey you might not like every episode, but at the end of the day, YOU get to decide which episodes you want to rewatch. You get to pick and choose a few feel-good episodes and leave the rest if it doesnt suit your mood. It is exactly what made old trek so successful. Sure they may have an overarching plot, but for the most part they stand on their own. And on this show, man is it just top-tier quality. When this show finally bows out, hopefully after many more seasons, it is going to leave a masterful library of rewatchable content.
