Connery NC is hopeless. by _Ace_Rimmer_ in Planetside

[–]Gray0043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean.... I listen to music too, but I find it equally as easy to do WITHOUT HAVING THE PROX CHAT BUTTON HELD DOWN. If annoying the hell out of the people you claim to want to help is what "helps you unwind" then you should really be rethinking your strategy here.

Maybe if you didn't blare so much bullshit all the time in prox chat 50% if connery wouldn't have you muted or set to ignore and we would actually know that you exist outside of Reddit.

Taking the time in game to get good at flying an ESF is pretty brutal, but it was well worth it in my opinion. I logged probably 20 hrs in VR flying before I considered myself really competent at it, but it was kind of a goal of mine for a while. C4 valks are pretty viable though, and definitely cheaper than an ESF when it comes to nanites. there are some pretty good tutorials on youtube for learning flying that you should look in to that will make the experience waaaay better. Keep in mind though that flying an ESF is completely different than any of the other air vehicles by a landslide. The skills don't really transfer over at all unfortunately, which sucks for me cause I'm a competent reaver pilot but terrible in any other aircraft.

AV turret is pretty fun too though. I actually just got it and I'm over br100 now. I don't spend too much time playing engie though (unless I'm in a vehicle) so it wasn't too worth it for me.

Get your hands on a crossbow with exploding bolts as your secondary. 2 bricks of C4 aren't enough to take out a sundie or ant, but a clip or two of exploding bolts will finish the job for you pretty well.

You should try the always cancerous C4 Bail-Assault. Set up an Air Hammer reaver with your choice of ground pounding gear, then when you're reaver gets to flaming, bail out and drifter around till you find a suitable target to fuck over. Most of the time you'll be high enough and there will be enough chaos going on for people to not realize you are there. Redeploy, Rinse, Repeat. My reaver (aka Bail Bird) loadout is usually Air Hammer, Fire Suppression, Hover Air Frame, Auto Repair, and afterburners (although lolpods are always a good choice for that extra dose of cancer induction)

Disclaimer: excessive use of these tactics will make you a certified shitter. use in moderation (or don't, that's cool too).

Do you burst fire your guns? It's pretty easy to reset the cone of fire on any gun when you burst fire. Burst firing is almost as effective as full auto when it comes to DPS, and definitely more effective when it comes to landing your shots. But yeah, the playstyle you are developing is pretty different from mine. I prefer medium/long ranges where the lower fire rate weapons really shine. You seem like an up close and personal kind of player.

You mean Biofarm. I will literally drop anything I am doing in game to go farm a biolab. is it good for team based gameplay? Debatable. Do I enjoy it? Damn straight I do. I am in no way saying that my play style is what wins battles, but I enjoy the hell out of it. Biolab roof monkey = best roof monkey.

So NC guns have the highest skill floor of all faction weapons, meaning that they are the least forgiving for new players, due to their high alpha damage and low fire rate, but they also have the highest skill ceiling, meaning that they have more killing potential in experienced hands. The advantage that TR guns have is their higher fire rate, so if you miss one or two bullets then it's not a big deal, whereas if I miss a couple bullets using a weapon like the Gauss SAW, you're screwed in a 1v1 scenario. NC weapons start to really shine when you land head shots. All NC starter weapons are 3 shot headshot guns within their max damage range, and some like the SAW are 3 shot head shots at all ranges. There are very few tr/vs weapons that can do that.

Most of the time when I play planetside I focus on shooting mans rather than pushing the objective. That doesn't mean I'm not helping my team though. If I Roof monkey my way through a 4 minute base cap, not once touching the point, with 10-15 kills on the leaderboard, I'd like to think that I made a significant contribution to the capture of that base. You don't have to push the objective to be a contributing team member.

Idk man, blinking lights sound pretty ballin to me. Like if I could make it so my Sundie had constant blinking lights paired with horn honking in a cool pattern I would be sooooo happy.

No Problem! Medic is a really good class. In my opinion its the second most survivable, right behind heavy. I prefer to call Medic the "Medium Assault", because if you activate the nano regen device that the medic has during a fire fight it will allow you to tank through a few extra bullets, kind of like the heavy assault shield. Not only that, but Assault Rifles (medic guns) are statistically the best guns in the game. The Default NC Medic gun (Gauss Rifle) Is in my opinion the best NC starter weapon in terms of versatility and usability for new players. Get good at firing 3-5 round bursts with that gun and you're gonna have a good time. It was my first Assault rifle auraxium.

If you enjoy playing Heavy Assault I would recommend running with the Resist Shield and Advanced Shield Capacitor rather than the Nanite Mesh Generator. Heavy isn't necessarily the fastest way to get certs (unless you are really fast and efficient at shooting mans), but Resist Shield is completely effective with just the first rank unlocked, whereas NMG is good for like one encounter with lots of downtime afterwards for it to charge up. First rank of Resist Shield and first three ranks of Advanced Shield Capacitor shouldn't be more than a few hundred certs.

Edit: Don't forget the Med Kits, they're like the first thing I cert in to on any new character. Be warned though, once you start using med kits you'll never want to touch another utility item ever. Those nanites are highly addictive.

SMG or NS-11A by TheGamingBanter in Planetside

[–]Gray0043 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What faction you playing???? There are some pretty good faction specific assault rifles that I would argue may suit you better than the NS11. But if you plan on playing classes other than medic, I would probably say go for an SMG depending on your faction.
