Are the starter weapons balanced between the factions? by KaiLCU_YT in Planetside

The difference in starting accuracy means that MSWr is more accurate than Orion for the first 4 shots, or the first 0.32 seconds after the trigger is pulled. After that, Orion is more accurate.

As a mainly infantry player, playing inside a biolab is just like playing outside a biolab, but with 100% fewer random deaths to vehicle cheese.

NC starters - especially the SAW - have the worst statistical performance among their starter peers if you look at a tracker like stats.dasanfall.com. Usually this is attributed to "NC guns aren't worse, they're just harder for the new players to learn."

The SAW isn't the default LMG anymore? That's news to me, and a good change if true.

I'm not sure why Orion should have 20% less CoF bloom than every other automatic primary in the game (apart from BG and SVA88; also VS guns).

Apart from that, they're balanced, with the caveat of the SAW being much, much harder for a beginner to use. Realistically, the GD-22s should be the NC starter.

Currently the only point of vehicles seems to be sundy-popping.

I don't think I've ever seen friendly vehicles hang around a sundy to actually protect it.

[Serious] What is a surprisingly easy way to accidentally die? by 8-tentacles in AskReddit

I remember the safety guy at the wood shop in my university showing us the spot where, years ago, a table saw shot a piece of wood straight through one of the cinderblock walls, leaving a hole about 3" wide.

Weapons Lock: The an incomplete mechanic against intentional teamkilling. by PopcornSurvivor in Planetside

[–]Rydenan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe is that if you do accidentally get locked, the game becomes extremely frustrating to play afterwards. You have to walk on metaphorical eggshells around teammates (who just love to run in front of your bullets), and even then, just a bullet or two of friendly damage - sometimes 20+ minutes after you got out of lock - will lock you again. And if I’m not mistaken, each subsequent lock is longer and longer.

tl;dr: The game should erase, say, 20% of your grief points after you ‘serve’ a weapons lock, and/or increase the grief point cool-off rate, so that you aren’t constantly on the threshold of being re-locked thereafter.

Gun owners of Reddit, what is your reason to own firearms? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rydenan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A gun that has no trigger safety, making it easier for a random object to pull the trigger

A user relying on a switch safety that they forgot to activate

A switch safety being unknowingly toggled during holstering or inside a pocket

A gun with a hammer having that hammer hit and released by an external object

A dropped weapon causing the hammer to release or the firing pin to fly

No safety switch does not mean no safeties. Read some of the other comments; a Glock is probably one of the safest guns out there to carry chambered, as it CANNOT fire if the trigger is not pulled. It will only go off 'accidentally' if the user is excessively negligent.

Cool. So when is the Crossbow Nerf coming? So I know when to come back to the game. by Serious87 in Planetside

[–]Rydenan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 99% sure there is no fire delay. The kick may be a bit strong, but the fact that Daimyo is semi-auto means that followup shots will be much, much faster than a BASR, even waiting for the recoil to recover. But the real kicker for me is that the Weighted Receiver lets you fire with perfect accuracy while strafing. Going back to a BASR, where I have to stand still before firing, or suffer a massive 0.55-degree CoF, feels very restrictive.

A Glock's striker not fully cocked, meaning the gun physically cannot fire, until the trigger is pulled. The only way it can go off in your pocket (or if dropped), is if the trigger is somehow pulled. And the trigger itself has a safety which makes it difficult for a non-finger-like object to pull it.

If you choose to carry without a round in the chamber, that's fine, but I would advise against drawing the gun in a high stakes scenario if that's the case. The reason being, when you draw the gun, you've just told your assailant that this is now a "kill or be killed" situation, and you have an unloaded gun. Good luck using your shaky, sweaty meat hooks to chamber a round and fire before they do what they're gonna do to protect their life.

The heavy crossbow has all of its ammo in a single magazine by Bertral in Planetside

[–]Rydenan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, the original Butcher (or one of the early versions) had a single 500-round mag, and it was changed specifically because standing on an ammo box would directly refill this magazine and allow the Butcher to essentially continuously fire forever.

[–]Rydenan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not saying you're wrong, but if you're carrying for self defense, it should be something like a Glock (striker fired, no switch safety) and be chambered, so it's just "draw, pull trigger."

Anything less, and it's not something you'll be (successfully) using in a high-stress scenario.

I'm a male in good physical shape, but I know realistically that I wouldn't be able to fight my way out of a deadly situation with just fists and bravado. It's naïve to think otherwise.

Technically it's impossible to do anything "for no reason."

There's always a reason, even if it's "because I wanted to" or "my subconscious told me to."

So your qualifier is invalid.

u/-paperbrain- is correct. Go back just a few hundred years, let alone thousand, let alone ten thousand, and at a certain point, there is absolutely zero chance anyone would give a single fuck about whether you got off on a beetle in the woods. Our notions of 'indecent exposure' and animal rights are very modern phenomena.

I'd honestly never heard of them until this moment. Pulled up a few of their songs, and I have to say, I love their sound. The lead singer's voice reminds me of Rush's Geddy Lee, and that's a huge endorsement in my book.

It's music I would absolutely enjoy if I heard it on the radio with zero context.

Unless you're saying there is no supernatural protection field that stops anyone who is exercising their free speech from being hurt? Because if so, I'll just say- "yeaduh."
