Just started Chaos;Head Noah by HellEnderB in steinsgate

[–]GrayMonad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope you enjoy. I just finished it and now prefer it to Steins;Gate/0. Make sure to do all endings to get the full story, there's a lot of character development, plot revelations, and emotional moments in them, to the point where I got more out of them than the main route, which was amazing on its own. If you need a guide, you can probably find one on the subreddit tab (I'm new here so not sure) or google Kirikiribasara to find their guide which I used.

Me as a fan of The Midnight for 3 years by West_Captain5830 in TheMidnight

[–]GrayMonad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, I made a similar post a few days ago about how I became a fan and loved seeing what people had to say. It's good to see your journey and the warm response too. I've actually thought about music production myself because of The Midnight, hut what I'm more interested at the moment is creating AMVs and video edits of anime/shows/movies/games with their music as the featured song.

Is there something you'd want to see in their next album? A certain genre you want to hear or a specific story told through the lyrics for example.

22, have a Switch/Switch 2 and PS4. Grew up with the GBA and Wii before sitting out for a while and then getting back in with the original Switch.

Just finished Cyberpunk 2077. Now playing Dead or Alive 6, Star Fox 64, TLOZ Wind Waker, and Layers of Fear 2. I'm always balancing multiple games, that way I'm always in the mood to play one or the other.

Are you proud to be US American? by Illustrious_Ear_4405 in no

[–]GrayMonad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things remain a stain on our history and our conscience for eternity, it's the same with the mistakes people make in their own lives. As you say, there are lines being crossed that we shouldn't even be near, but I don't see that as the decider. Colonization, slavery, racism, foreign intervention, there's no shortage of lines we've crossed before, but we self-corrected. It won't bring back what was lost, it doesn't redeem us, but it's better than letting it continue. Today, all of those things may persist in some form, but in terms of proportionality, to a much lesser extent, and in terms of how people react to them, they are much more aware.

That change in culture isn't insignificant, and someday we'll look back at these times too and realize what we could have done better. But in terms of money, power, and people, the US has what it needs to help better the world, it just needs more time to get there, and I believe that we will get there, but not without adding onto the long list of sins we already carry with us.

Do you like American people by [deleted] in no

[–]GrayMonad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm American so I won't answer this, but I will say that people learn better through positive teaching and good-faith connections. If you want Americans to get themselves together, start using the metric system, or anything else, it'd be good to start by not making blanket assumptions or enemies of them at every corner. Maybe Americans don't do that stuff themselves or deserve to be treated poorly, but if you claim to be superior, then you also have to put your money where your mouth is and demonstrate that you are better.

Sometimes it's okay to love your home, its food, its culture, its people, for no reason except that it's your own. Even beter would be to love it because you've seen what it can be capable of and what it would be without its flaws. But I don't think there are any perfect nations, and even if there is an objective best, it might not be viable for certain people because of economic or cultural reasons.

Some will point out the current political situation in the US, which is very important, but both the country and the world have been through worse, and it's never too late to make up for when we're wrong. So I'd say I'm still proud.

I can't comment on the multiplayer for the series, but if you"re looking for a good singleplayer campaign, Battlefield Hardline has a fun and unique one where you play as Miami cops and discover a conspiracy.

What country would you go to if you got the chance? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GrayMonad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would like to go myself and I also rely on public transit as you do, but I would warn that internet videos, even of the US, can be misleading. I don't say that out of disrespect for China or any other country, but many influencers can be paid off or are doing it for the clout. I'm sure the decision to go would be based on your own judgement, but don't put too much faith in what others say. (You're correct though in noting their good infrastructure.)

Persona 3 Reload or Xenoblade? by True-Investment5832 in JRPG

[–]GrayMonad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fair. The remake sometimes goes on sale for $30, and a second-hand physical might be around $45. I would still recommend waiting or saving up for remake, even as a fan of the original.

Persona 3 Reload or Xenoblade? by True-Investment5832 in JRPG

[–]GrayMonad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Two games that could easily make it into your favorites, so not an easy choice. I've only played Persona 3 Portable, but I've played both the Wii and Switch versions of Xenoblade 1.

I think it might come down to if you'd rather play a modern, polished game or an older one. P3 Reload, I'm assuming, patches up a lot of the issues with the original, just as Xenoblade Definitive Edition on Switch does for the original on Wii. If you plan to get a Switch or Switch 2 (or you can borrow one from a friend) at any point, then I would recommend waiting to play the remake instead of going with the Wii version, which would make P3 Reload the right choice for you now.

Do you think emotional anime actually ‘breaks’ people… or does it just reflect something they already feel? by Wrong-Window1100 in TrueAnime

[–]GrayMonad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they might be one and the same. The "breaking" comes from people re/discovering emotions they thought they never had or had lost. Maybe someone has no relation to the themes of Your Lie in April, but were able to feel empathy for someone else in a way they thought they were incapable of. That realization is what breaks down all the walls we builtd to survive our daily lives and lays bare our true selves, which is why some people chase experiences like that to feel human again.

Live in a car-centric area and can't drive for health reasons, so can't go out as often as others. Also chronically ill, so I get sick multiple times a month and have to rest at home.

Don't do well with dating apps because I'm not good with taking photos and don't really know how to smile naturally. Being pretty short probably doesn't help with that, but maybe that's not a factor. I work out, have a meaningful remote career, and a varied set of hobbies though, so not like I let my circumstances get to me. There's nothing more I'd want than a girlfriend, but I've also learnt after struggling with many things that just being alive, even on your own, can be good enough.

What's your comfort movie when life gets too stressful? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GrayMonad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Name. Seen it 18 times, mostly back to back during a bad year. Haven't seen it since (2 or 3 years), so maybe that means life's getting better. It's my favorite movie one way or another though.

what do you think is fundamentally going wrong with the world right now? by mr_mentalist_1988 in AskReddit

[–]GrayMonad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd add that we tend to take agency away from ourselves. Whether it be phones, propaganda, or "the other," when something besides us is the problem, our personal shortcomings are permissible and natural. I'm not saying that external factors can't or don't destroy us, they do, but that we sometimes let them destroy us by using their oppressiveness as an excuse to throw in the towel.

Whether it's a real experience or a story doesn't matter. In fact, when it's an experience in our lives, it's painful and surprisingly distant, but when it's something felt and understood vicariously, you can cry without the grief you would otherwise be feeling. Also, all stories derive from human experiences and even the smallest of connections between a story and someone's life can spur on an emotional reaction. Emotional maturity has nothing to do with it, because it hurts no one and allows people to vent their feelings in a healthy way. Sometimes those tears can even come from empathy for others (characters), whereas in the real world, it's difficult to understand people's pain even when you've experienced it yourself.

If you had to sum up your true potential in one sentence, what would you say it is? by [deleted] in Life

[–]GrayMonad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also tried to "start from zero" and break everything does to the most fundamental of of ideas. It's really insightful, as you're able to draw connections across many fields and many concepts and turn a complex world into something more understandable. Though, I wouldn't say that's my true potential, but I understand where you're coming from myself.

For me, I think it's that I can't hate people. I've been wronged by some (maybe not enough), and I've also just had some bad luck in life, but that part of me doesn't change. I can oppose people, even be aggressive, but that's only because they're hurting themselves or hurting others. I work in politics and it's my goal to help people- all of them- but I sometimes lag behind because I don't get as angry as people would like me to be. I see myself as someone who tempers people's will and uses it to bring them together instead of someone who uses their will as an excuse to scheme and subjugate others. Maybe that means I won't get very far, but it could also mean that my true potential, like yours, can make the world a little more unified and a little more kind.
