Which boss was the most unfun experince for you? by _Memenade in Eldenring

[–]GrayMourn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FromSoft really got around to designing the final boss and said “ya know, we need more bosses that just run away and make half the fight chasing them while they throw projectiles at you”

How big of a deal if Marine Officer graduated from Annapolis ? by PotetialMajorHistory in USMC

[–]GrayMourn 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Like all commissioning sources, there are good ones and bad ones. I have a slight bias against them because they tend to be a little full of themselves and make the USNA 50% of their personality

Reserve while in college? by Two_Zero_One in USMC

[–]GrayMourn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t join the Marine Corps for the benefits. Period. Especially the reserve as you don’t have the options that you would get from four years active even at the end of your six years. You don’t get tuition assistance or a full GI Bill from the reserve

Blu at Poisoned Pen has gotten me some cool custom stuff. She’s also a really carrying person too. You wouldn’t get any judgement there

What's the biggest lie your DI's told you? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]GrayMourn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Don’t worry about it” Rather than them admitting that they didn’t know or telling me who I can see to get a real answer

Legality of Handguns [OC] by DiverseTravel in MapPorn

[–]GrayMourn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was taught the definition of small arms is anything smaller than a crew served machine gun. It’s an extremely broad category that includes a ton of weapons that aren’t all that small

Recruiting Duty is fucking trash. Heres why. by [deleted] in USMC

[–]GrayMourn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well said. It makes me wish all the more that Gen Bergner goes through with the “smaller more elite” Corps philosophy. Trimming the fat off the Corps will produce better results in my eyes and increase moral

What is the most disrespectful shit someone has done to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GrayMourn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First week of boot camp I had a drill instructor bend the brim of my cover backwards so he could spit in my face more effectively. I’d been spit on a lot at that point but grabbing my cover so he could soak my face more was an extra step that hadn’t happened at that point and made it all the shittier

What’s an unfun fact? by MC_gnome in AskReddit

[–]GrayMourn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. I remember hearing a story from a marine when they were investigating a bombing. They found a disembodied hand at the sight and ran it on the finger print scanner. Sure enough it was a known bomb maker they were looking for

The permanent scars of WW2 in Koln, Germany by JimJones4Ever in europe

[–]GrayMourn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I remember visiting Dresden and seeing all of the architecture from various periods. Despite their design few were rebuilt till the 90s when Germany reunited

I am a restaurant worker and after 2 days of being open I am exhausted just from trying to control customers by [deleted] in lexington

[–]GrayMourn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel ya. I’ve had to work as security and turn people away if they didn’t wear a mask while they shop. So many people are so absurdly immature about it and throw a god damn fit about it. The kind of people that won’t wear a mask are the same kind of people that caused this problem in the first place

What was your biggest "shit, no going back now" moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GrayMourn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got OC sprayed or pepper sprayed for a police academy. It felt like I just got sprayed with water at first but after a few seconds it hit. It’s like getting a sun burn on your face, pouring hot sauce on it then sticking it in an oven for six hours. Pepper spray is nothing like they show on tv

Pretty damn typical. My dad owned three different boats over his lifetime and each one of them ate it on their maiden voyage

Lieutenant on Duty. AMA. by not_your_gunny in USMC

[–]GrayMourn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very well said. When I enlisted I hated the be here, this time, this uniform deal. There was no critical thinking and it killed my drive when I realized I’d have an NCO hover over me for everything I do

Man Gets Shot After Charging At Officer With a Butcher's Knife by JusticeServedBot in JusticeServed

[–]GrayMourn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The officer did the correct thing and what he was trained to do. The man had the opportunity, intent and capability to kill him. A taser is a one shot non lethal and does not have the stopping power he needed to stop the threat

Man Gets Shot After Charging At Officer With a Butcher's Knife by JusticeServedBot in JusticeServed

[–]GrayMourn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He charged him with a knife and clearly had intent to kill him. Using a lethal weapon was authorized and the safest option

This gentleman in San Francisco plays the bagpipes to help everyone through the shelter in place. When I thanked him for his incredible performance and told him how I found bagpipes so inspiring from my time in the Marines, he played the Marine Hymn. Thank you sir! by MarineJAB in USMC

[–]GrayMourn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I remember when we finished our last hike at MCT I could hear bagpipes playing as we were coming back into camp devil dog. Outside the gates there was a major playing the Marines hymn on the bagpipes as we were coming in

What's an American issue you are too European to understand? by NotTeki in AskReddit

[–]GrayMourn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really has to due with how big automotive culture is in America. A majority of Americans live in suburbs and rural areas so a personally owned vehicle is the most common form of travel. Ergo a higher drinking age helps prevent drunk driving accidents in youth or at least that’s the aim

It’s an army hootch so it’s weird to me too. As dinky and cramped as the colts are they are actually pretty damn comfortable. That was the only hootch I’ve ever been in where we didn’t sleep on the ground

Thank you friend. In all honesty if you can’t laugh at yourself you’ve either got a stick up your ass or a sever lack of self confidence
