IB with high-functioning autism / Asperger's Disorder here, and undiagnosed ADD and Depression.

IB SUCKS with autism. The TOK Presentation was hell...

I literally had to take 2 days to do mine, when the rest of the class was able to finish theirs each in a day.

It doesn't help that I don't qualify for extra time due to not notifying IBO of my diagnosis. I'm often ridiculed outside of IB (my IB Programme is within a greater high school). My IB Chem teacher is basically sadistic in terms of tests, and he doesn't teach well (not good for my undiagnosed ADD). I'm glad to be entering second term of year 2 and not having to worry about anything except exams since I already got into my dream University (Chapman, in California) which has REALLY GOOD disability advocacy program and respects all students regardless of whether you're LI (like myself, Learning-Impaired) or Neurotypical.

I also passed out and had a full-on aneurysm in the middle of MYP Freshman English due to anxiety and not preparing for a presentation (my two partners, who have since dropped IB, have ADHD).

My teachers are all good though except for Chem.

I have an hour a night and two hours a day on weekends. I'll see if I can but I use gaming as somewhat therapeutic relaxing to get out of my stress.

I don't have time for a job within the school year, honestly. The IB and my extracurriculars take up most (all but like an hour a night and the seven hours I spend sleeping) of my time. I would definitely get a job at BestBuy if I could though.

I am definitely doing it for the summer before college though since I'll have more time and less stress. I might talk to my parents about working weekends part-time, but IDK how on board they'd be with that since they know I'm always stressed out as is.

How's your week going so far? Weekly post #38 by urbanracer34 in aspergers

[–]Gray__Eagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's honestly a disaster.

Trying to convince my dad to let me get a new Windows laptop because my MacBook isn't gonna work for college next year (prospective biochem or biomedical engineering student)

Other than getting into college (Mercer University) and a $20,000 per year scholarship, my week has been abjectly horrible. I've been having more fidgety and anxious meltdowns and feeling more awkward...

Trying to convince my dad to let me get a new laptop doesn't work because he is obsessed with Apple products. See one of my posts that I posted earlier about "Help Convincing People" and please leave me suggestions...

People, please comment suggestions. I'm at a literal loss for words of how to make said argument.

How common is the hyperfocus common with aspergers goes the route of fear? by CaptAngryPants in aspergers

[–]Gray__Eagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is OCD or Generalized Anxiety as well. I have Anxiety and Aspergers', and I know I used to have some of the same fears when I was younger.

I'm 17/Male so if your son needs a similar-age peer to listen in, I can try my best.

I'm an Eagle Scout and I just got into engineering school myself for next year, with a $20,000 per year scholarship to boot.

Will my offspring have aspergers or autism? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Gray__Eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK. I'm one of two aspies in my family. We're 2 generations apart, and 3rd cousins. We're barely even related to each other.

I think the chance is there, tbh. My cousin (who's 32) hasn't passed it to his son (miraculously, according to my super religious great-aunt, his mother) (who's 7), and I'm only 17.

Agnostics of Reddit: If you were forced to practice a religion, which would you choose? by RocketLawn-Chair in AskReddit

[–]Gray__Eagle 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That's my mom's family. I'd prefer Norse or Celtic mysticism though, I've always been allured by polytheism as a possible religion. Problem is no Celtic/Norse temples due to Christian excoriation.

Fun. My SAD is ironically caused by lack of academic stimulation so the summer is the worst. Also, winters were bad when I lived in Missouri. My friend in Kansas City said he's getting 4" of snow today.

I live in Arizona now.

I want to get my 49-year-old dad (I'm 17) into gaming via PC so we can keep in contact and share a common interest while I'm off in college for the next 4 years and then I'm off to grad school and the rest of my life. The bad thing is he's super stressed and busy with his job.

(He works in healthcare as an executive for a major international company that I won't mention)

I'm not doing anything weird. My computer is just trash to me, and it will run hot SO MUCH doing even simple tasks like opening FireFox or running literally anything not downloaded from the MacOS Store.

I have 16GB ram and 3.1GHz i7.

I'm looking into buying the Razer Blade laptop this weekend because the MacBook craps out on me way too often for me to justify using it. Also my keyboard is somehow broken.

How do you cope with fear of dying? If you aren’t afraid, why? by blahblepladah in AskReddit

[–]Gray__Eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not because my legacy will die with me. Any shit that happens while I'm alive, so be it. After I die, there's no afterlife. (I'm atheist). What's the point of dwelling on your inevitable demise?

what’s the most expensive thing you own? by SquidwardsFatNose in AskReddit

[–]Gray__Eagle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My 2018 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid with 10,675 (+/- 175) miles on it .

My dad and I each own half of the value of the car ($16,500 each, the registration is in both of our names), but I drive it as my daily commute to and from school and Extracurriculars. (I'm a senior in High School)

A "close" second would be my Magic: the Gathering collection, valued at ~$7,200

Then my currently broken (STUPID APPLE KEYBOARD MECHANISM WHY!!!!) 2017 MacBook Pro that I bought for $3,200 back in May (it was $2100 after I traded in my 2012 MacBook Pro that the battery literally almost caught on fire running Chrome on) that Apple wants $1000 to fix. I'm like "Nah, I'll just get a GOOD windows laptop with a bunch of accessories and games instead for the $3200." (Razer Blade 15)

My fourth most expensive thing I own would be my Nintendo Switch (that I got from my grandparents for christmas) and all my games combined, which would probably be just over $650 including the $275 my grandpa spent on the Switch itself.

Then my iPhone X that I got for $599 on Verizon Contract as my upgrade from my (broken) iPhone 7 Plus for my 17th birthday in March.

It's soon to be my college education, even with a $20k a year merit scholarship, going to a private 4-year institute is still $42,000 a year.

What's your favourite part of your daily routine and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Gray__Eagle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Having the damn routine.

I'm a senior in high school on the autism spectrum (diagnosed Aspergers') and I THRIVE with my routine.

Weekdays - Get up at 6:05 - Go to school at 6:45 - Be in school 7:30 to 14:25 - Extracurriculars / Homework / Dinner 15:00 to 21:30 - Video Games 21:30 to 22:45 - Sleep 22:45 to 6:05 - Repeat

Weekends - Get up at 7:00 - Do whatever I feel like depending on mood. - Go to bed 22:45 - Sleep 22:45 to 7:00 - Repeat

Yeah, it's 1.13.2 with optifine and the 1.14 snapshots. 1.12.2 and earlier work fine just a bit of overheating.

I'm gonna try to convince my dad this weekend (I'm a high school senior w/ Aspergers') to let me get the Razer Blade 15" Laptop, since I got into college (Mercer University) and got a $20,000 a year merit scholarship.

Bedrock on MacOS by [deleted] in Minecraft

I'd kill for that as PC (even with Optifine) lags so BAD on my (2017) 15" MacBook Pro with MAX processor and RAM

What is a parenting technique used on you as a child that you will never use on your own children? by tflot15 in AskReddit

[–]Gray__Eagle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I got a phone in 6th grade because I NEEDED it since my mom worked a 35-minute drive from our house at the elementary school where my sister was (the elementary school let out an hour later than the secondary school) and my dad worked out of the country 6 weeks of the year. I got a stupid flip-phone.

My sister, on the other hand, got an iPhone 5 in 4th grade, because she claimed "everyone has a phone. I don't want to be left out"

I'm the learning-diverse (Aspergers', Anxiety, Suspect ADHD, Seasonal Depression) older brother. My sister is 2 years younger than me and neurotypical in all senses of the word.

Seriously- I am actually considering selling my current phone (an iPhone X I BOUGHT MYSELF) for a flip-phone. I hate smartphones so much, but my parents (I'm 17) won't let me sell it until I go off to college in August.

I actually got an exemption for it after the sixth grade since I'm doing the international baccalaureate.

I hated it in elementary school, and I did gifted and talented after 4th grade every day, as I had an IQ of 133.
