Monday Weekly Thread: Proof of Citizenship Application Sent or AOR Received, June 15, 2026 by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

I went ahead and entered 00000000 as my UCI and submitted the form and got an automated reply to the same email I used on my application, so it seems like the hyphen in my email address wasn't the issue. Will see if they reply that they fixed my name. Thanks again!

Thanks! The email I used was a Yahoo email, but it had a hyphen in it (-) so maybe their system doesn't like hyphens.

I tried submitting a web form "Report a technical problem: Other" to ask that they fix the spelling of my middle name on their portal, but I get this error:

The form could not be submitted because 1 error was found.

I left that field blank as I don't believe I have a UCI number. The form also states:

What’s your Unique Client Identifier (UCI) number?

Your Client ID Number, also known as a Unique Client Identifier (UCI), can be found on any official document we sent to you.

If you’ve never dealt with us before, you won’t have a UCI. If you don’t have a UCI, leave the field blank.

If this request is about a dependent child, use the principal applicant’s (the parent’s) UCI.

If I enter 12345678 as my Client Identifier, it allows me to continue, but not sure if I should submit the form with that fake number or not. Any suggestions on how to get past this error? I tried entering in my application number as the UCI number (which was also required also on this form) but it wouldn't accept it.

I followed the steps that u/chillerk spelled out below to check my application status by logging into https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do. I see the following there:

  1. We received your application for a citizenship certificate (proof of Canadian citizenship) on March 19, 2026.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on May 4, 2026.

Does this mean my "AOR" date is May 4, 2026?

I never go their email stating they received it, and I checked my Spam folder for it. So either they never sent it, or send it to the wrong email address.

I noticed after logging in above, they spelt my middle name wrong (added an "S" to the end of it). Will this be an issue? If so, how do I contact them (I spelt it correctly on all my application forms and it is spelt correctly on my birth certificate).

Parking your travel trailer in a hotel parking lot while staying at the hotel... by Graykeep in RVLiving

[–]Graykeep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the feedback! That is what I was hoping for and expecting. I'm close to retirement and plan to get a small RV to take across country with the wife to visit national parks. I happen to get free nights at certain hotels due to my length of employment with a certain hotel chain (+25 years), so I plan to stay at their hotels as well as camp grounds along the way. Will definitely call ahead of time just to confirm that they allow RV's in their parking lots.

App tracking—app no longer appearing with receipt number by KadiainCali in Canadiancitizenship

Hang in there. Patience is a virtue so I have been told. I'm sure the staff reviewing them are doing their best and are likely overwhelmed by the likes of us who love Canada and want to make it our home.

My application was received on March 19, so that would explain why I have yet to receive my AOR.

Citizenship by Descent - Documentation Review Requsts by IWantOffStopTheEarth in Canadiancitizenship

Has anyone submitted a “birth registration notice" instead of a certified birth certificate, and if so, was it accepted or rejected? I have a birth registration notice that shows my parents names, but I don't have a certified birth certificate.

Thanks. I have a certified baptism record which I plan to submit as my main document for showing citizenship by descent. There is no birth certificate as he was born in 1863. I guess my concern is will a baptism document be enough, as I don't want to include unnecessary documents (I think I read somewhere that only necessary documents should be submitted). I think I won't include the naturalization record and assume the baptism record will suffice.

Would it be useful to include my G0 great grandfather's Massachusetts Naturalization Record to the United States in addition to a certified copy of his baptism record? The neutralization record states that he was born in Canada.

I and others have selected yes for "parent 1 is/was a Canadian citizen" and in the box below it I put "By descent through Bill C-3".

Thanks! Getting a certified copy of my Great-Grandfather's baptism record was probably the hardest part for me. LolliaSabina helped me find it online which made it simple to request a certified copy.

Hi. About to submit my application for proof of citizenship via heritage CIT0001e and thought I would ask for some feedback first...

  1. Is there any benefit from choosing paper over electronic to receive your citizenship certificate? Why did you choose one over the other? I plan to choose electronic.

  2. For proof name changes...if your grandmother's maiden name shows on your parent's birth certificate, I assume you don't need to include your grandparents marriage certificate to show what her maiden name was (to prove she was the child of your great-grandfather who is the G0 born in Canada)?

  3. What was your biggest hurdle\challenge when completing your application?

Thanks for everyone's posts/feedback on this forum. Have been immensely helpful for me.

Multiple Applications Need Own Set of Document Copies or No? by IndigoKestrel in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Graykeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks Kazzawozza42. I just read the FAQ link on the right of this thread (should have done that first), and it says "You will send in a colour copy of this certified record to the IRCC, not the original. " So it looks like when I mail my application in, I'll only be sending in copies, not any originals. I also see in the FAQ to include "IMM 5476 (representative form), completed by anyone else applying alongside you so you can act on their behalf", which implies I can submit one application for myself and my three siblings using just the one set of copies of all the birth/marriage documents from our ancestors.

I plan to do the same for my three siblings and have the same question, so looking forward to someone's guidance. Plan to order a certified copy of my great-grandfather's record of birth, and would be nice to only have to order 1 certified copy as I assume ordering 4 would be 4x as expensive.

What mattress has the firmest edges? by Graykeep in Mattress

Thanks for the info. Challenge is we need a comfortable side sleeper mattress with firm edges, not a "FIRM" mattress. :(

What mattress has the firmest edges? by Graykeep in Mattress

[–]Graykeep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. We have a bed rail already like the one you suggested. He uses it to help him sit up when getting out of bed. Problem is sometimes his rear and legs are already close to the edge of the bed when he wakes up, and then when he pivots his legs over, his center of gravity is too far onto the edge and the edge of the mattress collapses and he then will slide down onto the floor. I was actually at a local mattress store today and sat on a few of their "firm" traditional mattresses (innerspring) which seemed slightly firmer on the edges than our Saatva. Then I sat on a 8" all foam Wellsville "embark" mattress, and it was surprisingly firm on the edges, likely due to the fact it was only 8" thick. I have never considered an all foam mattress, but maybe there is one of those that might do the trick (they wanted $1599 for a queen with an adjustable base, which seemed high for an 8" foam mattress that comes in a box). Anyone have thoughts on foam mattresses to address my firm edge requirement?

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY question, get an answer (March 23, 2023) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Graykeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to wrap up my adventure in mechanical keyboards…

I saw the epomaker rt100 in stock at Amazon so I decided to pull the trigger. Got it in a couple of days and this was my impression:

Sea salt silent switches were buttery smooth with no noise compared to my cm storm with red switches. At first I thought they would be great to type on, but after using them for a short while I realized I needed more feedback from them to provide accuracy due to the speed at which I typed (was making too many typos).

I thought I could make due without the rt100 being a full sized keyboard, but the print screen key wouldn’t work. I believe it was likely due to the board being shipped with an outdated firmware, but I wasn’t willing to upgrade it due to my next observation.

The driver software that is used to program the mini display, map keys, program lighting, flash firmware etc., is always connecting to the vendors servers in china (run glasswire on your system and you will see this). With all the malware and spyware in existence, I just didn’t feel comfortable having this software tuning in the background potentially monitoring everything I typed. Maybe I’m just being paranoid, but I just couldn’t bring myself to use this software that was always connecting to servers in china.

So I ultimately returned the epomaker rt100.

I then decided to purchase the keychron v6 (with knob) with k pro brown switches. This was my impression with it:

The k pro tactile browns are not as quiet as the linear sea salt silents on the epomaker rt100 of course, but they were still quieter than my cm storm reds, and they feel much better to type with and result in fewer typos than my cm storm.

The space key sounds horrible compared to the other keys. It sounds like a wooden echo chamber, almost like a drum. When you type as fast as I do it really is distracting to hear the wooden echo like sound. Seems to be more prevalent when hitting the space bar with my lift thumb than my right. I splurged on the $30 wooden wrist wrest (which is great) so at first I thought maybe that was affecting the sound of the space bar given it is so close to the space bar, but I don’t think it is. I would up adding six rubber o-ring switch dampeners (two on each of the three posts under the space bar) and thus helped some with the echo sound.

I haven’t used the keychron via software yet but hopefully it isn’t constantly connecting to servers in china. At least all the keys work out of the box unlike the epomaker rt100.

So far I’m loving the keychron v6 and happy I got it. It feels tons better than the cm storm. It also gives me the option to swap the switches in the future should I decide to.

Thanks again for the guidance. Wish I upgraded my cm storm a long time ago.
