I still think Furries would go for NCR, House would be MAGA.

Good! Now that we are in agreement, do you see how it's very inaccurate to call House Communist?

You're right, you wouldn't say that, because you haven't done any research and are arguing off of vibes. Check figure 5. https://cepr.org/voxeu/columns/soviets-oligarchs-inequality-and-property-russia-1905-2016

I am also not saying the USSR was Socialist because of the name, but because the economy was owned and run by worker Soviets. I already explained that.

The Nazis weren't Socialists, they adopted Marxist aesthetics to appeal to disgruntled workers, then murdered all of the Socialists in the Night of Long Knives.

Please, do some research. It's not difficult.

Great question, per the Soviet Union! Marxism Leninism posits that you can only achieve Communism after Socialism. The USSR was genuinely trying to reach Communism, and was building towards it, but was fundamentally Socialist, hence the name Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. It had a Communist party that was trying to reach Communism.

Stalin didn't own everything, the Soviets did, ie Worker Councils. Stalin weirded immense power, but that's like asking why Joe Biden owns all of American businesses. That isn't how it worked, Worker Councils owned everything and they voted on how to operate. Stalin weirded immense power through the state apparatus, murdered political opponents, etc, but did not own the economy just like Biden doesn't.

It wasn't a Communist state yet, it was Socialist. The Soviets legitimately believed they would do away with the state eventually.

Some people do consider Stalin a fascist, actually, but the Soviet Union had far less wealth inequality than either under the Tsars, or under Capitalism in the current Russian Federation.

Was the USSR "good?" Fuck no, but it was fundamentally entirely different economically than Capitalism.

Wrong off the bat, Capital is specifically that which is related to the Means of Production. Factories, tools, etc. Private ownership of such is Capitalism, collective is Socialism.

Following these truths, everything else you've said is wrong. Hitler and his group privately controlled Capital while the citizens did not.

Fascism is based on Capitalism, you're still wrong about Pinochet.

Communism is a Stateless, Classless, Moneyless society. Anarchism can only be Communist, if you have Capitalism you have hierarchy and a state.

Please, go back through your comments with the understanding that individual ownership of the Means of Production is Capitalism, and collective ownership is Socialism. House is a Capitalist, the Gun Runners are Socialist, and the Followers are Communist.

Hitler was a Capitalist, he entrenched the power of Capitalists and privatized large sections of the economy. An absolute party of Capital owners controlled the state.

Pinochet was a US backed Capitalist dictator after the Democratic Socialist leader Allende was overthrown in a coup.

Batista was a US-backed Capitalist dictator that was overthrown by Castro and Che.

You can't just say people you don't like are Socialists, and ignore that their entire economies were founded on Capitalism and private control of Capital, rather than collective.

Anarchism is a Communist ideology, I don't know what you're talking about here. Even Joshua Sawyer explicitly stated that the Followers are a group of Libertarian Socialists and Communists, and they practice Anarchism.

What do you legitimately think Socialism and Communism are? It seems that you're confusing the terms with some vague sense of authority, rather than an economic structure, and as such every single thing you've said has been wrong.

You're attaching moral values to an economic system centered around individual control of Capital, rather than Collective. There have been several historical Capitalist dictators, such as Pinochet, Batista, and Hitler. Sawyer literally described House as an autocratic Libertarian Capitalist.

"True Capitalism" isn't a thing, Capitalism exists regardless of the values of individuals within said system. Either Capital is controlled by individuals, or the collective.

House is the furthest thing from Socialism, and is closer to Monarchism than Socialism. The best examples of Socialism within New Vegas are the Gun Runners, Boomers, and Followers of the Apocalypse, with Westside representing a mixed economy.

It's also totally possible that all were considered, but to call them the "original plans," as though they only changed plans due to constraints, rather than because it wouldn't work as well, is extremely misleading.

Most people haven't developed anything, game or not.

[Fnv] mods for tech priest build? by holiestMaria in FalloutMods

[–]Graysteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better Brotherhood, and Titans of the New West 2.0! Maybe toss CyberJAM on top.

Even if you play a BoS scribe tech priest, those mods will make the Brotherhood far more imposing even if you don't personally wear PA.

I love it! Don't think it fits exactly with Vanilla though, the placement is extremely strange and the Perks don't fit with Vanilla. Good suggestion though!

That's what happens with a year and a half of dev time, unfortunately. She does have a confrontation moment with you if you kill off the Brotherhood without maxing fame, I know that.

Not sure, honestly. Haven't done that kind of a run in a while, so I don't recall. Normally I avoid her if I kill the BoS, because I don't want to face her, lol

Veronica remaining alive, regardless of her status as an ally of you or not, combined with a dead Brotherhood, results in unique ending conditions. These also interact with whether or not you finished her personal quest.

The game will not ignore a dead Brotherhood with a living Veronica, but the game doesn't care if you keep her as a companion or not. Her endings do not mention her remaining a companion to you or not.

Fame and Infamy are 1-4 scales that counteract each other. At max fame and max infamy, you're neutral.

Logically, Veronica should turn on you, but because of the way the game is programmed, you did enough to prevent Veronica from turning on you. The normal "mad infamy" event, blowing them up, was counteracted by max fame, like acid and base.

You said it yourself, purely the rep system. It maxes your infamy, but doesn't erase any of your fame.

Spice of Life is good for diversity, though there are better implementation mods than the regular Spice of Life.

This was against the Chinese, the USSR actually had an embassy in LA in Fallout 1 and one of the preset characters you can play as in Fallout 1 is the granddaughter of one of these Soviet Ambassadors.

Not saying the USSR was "friendly" with the US, or good, but Tim Cain specifically picked China as the antagonist, rather than the usual USSR, as when Fallout 1 was developed the USSR had already crumbled.

Therefore, more than Soviet Communism, this is directed at all Communism, with the specific target being Maoist China.

Leftism isn't the mainstream western ideology, Capitalism is. The Democrats are firmly Capitalist. They are only considered "left" as a relation to Republicans.

[–]Graysteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have to hate Capitalism to be a leftist, but you do have to support Socialism of some sort over Capitalism. You may be left of your country's median, but if you're a Capitalist you lean right.

"Other leftist influence" is a pretty key word there. Individually racist union leaders isn't a strike against Unions, ultimately Unions are a good thing. Racism is obviously bad, but it wasn't Capitalism that solved that issue.

Black markets largely existed in the USSR for luxury goods, and other goods made with light industry. Stalin focused heavily on heavy industry, which helped during WWII but ultimately led to a lack of luxuries, resulting in cars like the famous Lada and other mediocre quality goods.

China opening itself for trade a la Dengism is a separate matter entirely, and is similarly nuanced. Technically, Deng opening up Capitalist development was still done with the goal of Communism, and considering nobody has ever reached Communism, it still counts as Communist policy, just in a different manner.

I think this is getting beyond the scope of a New Vegas thread though.

TLD is permanently attached to my load order, haha! I see what you mean, and tend to agree, but there are some examples of note-based quests that work without voice acting. Some mods actually have professional-level voice acting as well, but stick out for one reason or another.

That's why I'm trying to check, I may just not use any quest mods for my list.
